On The Fence about Microsoft Windows XP.

Pros: friendly, reliable, supports 4 gigs of ram, runs 64 bit + 32 bit applications Cons: NOT support 16 bit and rare to find drivers
Difference between x64 and XP pro sp2? Its all about ram, x64 supports over 4 gigs of ram which is awesome if you work for Pixar. Which I dont. The 64 bit edition is based more on the server edition than Windows XP but I found it to be VERY reliable and quite friendly to work with.....untill I tried to find drivers for about half of my programs. You see, the 64 bit edition was supposed to be launched a long time ago, but due to setbacks, it wasnt fully released untill recently. Now, the problem stems from the fact that Windows Vista was scheduled to come out not too long after they finally released this x64 bit edition and most companies wouldnt front the money to create patches or .dll's for their programs when they knew they would have to turn right around and do it again with Vista that was due out soon anyway. grrr What a waste a a
