Pros: Great security updates and this will correct your crashing computer. Cons: Microsoft Defender Antispyware not included. Some system exploits not corrected.
If you are updating from Windows 98 or purchasing a new computer these first paragraphs will contain vital information. Those already familiar with XP but unable to download updates may consider scrolling down to the "Improvements in this Version" ...
Pros: Resource-efficient, stable, highly-compatible, robust, mature, polished Cons: Doesn't perform well on REALLY old hardware. Is not the cheapest OS out there.
I have been using Microsoft Operating systems since "DOS 5.0" a few years ago. Definitely, Windows XP with Service Pack 2 is the most refined desktop operating system Microsoft has ever come up with (including the newly released and quite disappointing ...
Pros: Digital Media, GUI, NTFS, NT Kernel Cons: Windows Genuine Advantage
Windows XP is Microsoft's most successful operating system ever released. Although the OS was released in 2001, it is still being updated and even sold today, making it Microsoft's longest OS on store shelves since the DOS days. Windows XP brings digital ...
Pros: User friendly, compatible, not hardware intensive, simple, long life, stable, supported Cons: Not so "shiny", not as secure as Vista
Windows XP Professional is quite simple the best Windows software that you will be able to find. Despite being older than Windows Vista, it is much better, much more stable, and much more compatible. You will run into next to no compatibility issues, and ...
Pros: Stable, efficient, lower hardware requirements than Vista Cons: Discontinued, lack of current driver support by manufacturers
Sadly sales have been discontinued as a side effect of the release of Windows Vista (mainly to boost sales of Windows Vista, of course), but Windows XP (both Pro and Home) had an excellent run. Great in both the performance and reliability ...
Pros: The feel and look of the product is so easy to work with. Cons: Connecting and LAN wise is very hard to work with and also networking.
Windows Xp is the most widely use operating system (even tho vistas out). Vista is easier to work with but more people use and know Windows Xp more. Every single game for the computer works with Xp. For online gaming XP is probably the best to have. For ...
Okay, so I have been using a cvomputer now since I was in 2nd grade. I recall getting the first computer with the Mac operating system on it. Since then, Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000....They have all been on my computers and I think that windows XP is ...
WindowsXP Compatibility issues by psycic21 ,May 15 '06
Pros: Good Graphics, nice search function, easy to use in general, and a useful help system. Cons: Distortions after prolonged use or massive resources usage.
First thing I've noticed is that the program compatibility wizard doesn't seem to work quite right. (I have a few games that are not compatible with WindowsXP and thought I would use the program compatibility wizard to make them work.) A few of the games run, but have horrible colors, severely slow game play, and/or experience crashes frequently. Another problem I noticed was that the colors are sometimes, not incredibly often but they are there, very much brightened after using a lot of system resources. One good thing though, is that it has very nice graphics and a really nice indexing system for finding files quickly. Also, you don't have to defragment it quite as often as older Windows systems.
Better than VISTA: tried and true by toolpackinmama ,May 24 '07
Pros: Solidly dependable. The most user-friendly and the most generally compatible OS available. Cons: It's not free like Linux. Your purchase will make Bill Gates even richer.
This is the one to buy. Vista is a big disappointment so far. XP Pro is IMHO the best Microsoft OS to date, and this one comes with Service Pack two for your convenience.
I have been building computers for 12 years. I am experienced with various OS alternatives, and XP Pro is the best OS I have ever installed and used. It's what I prefer for my own use, and it's what I STILL recommend for all of my customers.
Pros: simple networking,Good Graphic interface,Fun Colors,Easy for all ages,Good For Gaming,Easy Cons: Can Be Slow,Not to Stable,Defrags are a hassle,Updates take forever,Bad HID recognition
One of the Best Windows Operating systems i have used, very simple things and it all runs smoothly i would definitely recommend this.
Pros: accesories, software, its microsoft. Cons: not windows vista, will soon be out of date.
Windows XP Pro is mostly used for people who are interested in doing more of businees work, lots of schools use it and lots of multi-networked companys to keep track of there workers and such, but all in all this is a great operating system I wouldn't recomend it to just any person/ people at home.
Horrible, nothing but problems and a virus collector by envirocbr ,Jan 13 '08
Pros: None Cons: Microsoft trying to take over the world
Being in the I.T. field for as long as I have been, I have grown to hate anything Microsoft, there are so many security holes in the operating system, swiss cheese looks like a solid block!
The "Firewall" they include is an utter joke, doesn't even come with native Virus protection, and updates are handed out once per month, and they are never truly revealed to you.
This OS what the first of a string of horrible garbage from Microsoft. the last GREAT OS was NT 4.0 for the Desktop and for a little more functionality, Windows 2000.
If your intelligent about computers and yearn for something more powerful Linux is your step, Mandriva Linux is a great starting point.
For those that don't want to learn all the ins and out, Mac Laptops and Desktops are what you need. Easy to catch on, has one of THE BEST Graphical User Interfaces of ALL TIME. and to boot, it is a FreeBSD variant, therefore FREE of viruses and has a journaled file system (HFS+) that actually works compared to NTFS.
Pros: easy to customize, neat features Cons: is difficult to navigate when used to Win98,
suceptible to outside attacks with default settings
I was pleasently suurpised when XP Home SP2 rolled around.
SP1 caused a few problems and XP Home itself was a bit on the shakey side...but if you do a clean install and immedialy do all the updates, then install a good antivirus scanner and anti-spyware program, you will get a LOT of stable use out of this product! Its their best yet!
One of the best OS from Microsoft by jollin ,Aug 05 '08
Pros: Can select applications and designate specific users if more than one user is using computer. Cons: None
I have used XP and vista and if you ask me which ones better i would say XP is way better.
It runs with minimal startup memory and performs really well. I havent had any computer crashes while using XP.
The other cool thing about using XP is it automatically downloads the required updates from the microsoft website.
You can customize XP according to your needs and get rid of unwanted programs and applications that run in the background. You can give it a 98 look but still make it perform as XP.
As a developer you dont want your system to lag because of some annoying graphics and unwanted applications that hog up the system memory. And XP lets you tweak it exactly the way you want it.
Pros: Simple to use Fast response times Fast boot up Supports most multimedia device Cons: the system does start to degrade if not treated well
What can i say? I love windows XP. I have windows XP Pro installed under NTFS. It just has to be the best operating system from Microsoft yet. I cannot beleive how stable the system is. It just wont crash! And even on the rare occasion it does, only the problem application goes, not the whole system!
