Pros: Good price, great location, great security, clean rooms, good service from rest of the staff. Cons: CAA memberships not honored, unfriendly check in staff.
We stayed at the Milford Plaza mid-April, 2008, there to see a Broadway show and experience the city. PROS: We couldn't have picked a better location. It's within quick walking distance to all the Broadway shows, and any other sights you'd want ...
Pros: It is in Times Square. Cons: Absolutely, Positively Everything Else. Indifferent Staff, Dirty, Grimy, Sticky Rooms, Perma-Heat, Old Elevators and Bathrooms
Okay. Maybe I'm a little biased. I grew up vacationing in NYC twice a year. We stayed at such iconic hotels such as the Plaza, Helmsley Park Lane, Sheraton Towers, New York Hilton, etc. So it could be argued that I'm comparing the Milford to these ...
Pros: Location, price, great staff Cons: Dull view, but I don't stay in my room to look out the window!
I admit that I'm one of those people who have to worry about something at all hours of the day. And when I am preparing to travel, it gets worse. We took a cruise out of Florida in September 2004 and I tracked those hurricanes more than NOAA forecasters ...
Pros: Location, friendly staff, and safe, comfortable room. Cons: Not enough outlets and low water pressure.
After reading other reviews on this hotel, I was a little nervous about staying in this hotel. However, since I booked through Priceline, I didn't have a choice about what hotel we were assigned. Before our trip, I called the Milford Plaza to see ...
Pros: Price, clean rooms, location, near local transportation, Broadway Theaters and Tour Busses, good security. Cons: If vital utility service is malfunctioning do not expect warning nor caring from the staff.
The first time I made a reservation at the Milford Plaza I did not know what to expect. Although it's in the Theater district, the surrounding neighborhood was once a garden spot for prostitution in the pre Mayor Giuliani years. I am writing this so you ...
Pros: Location, location, location; often inexpensive relatively ($99-$119) Cons: Small rooms, bizarre security policy
First of all, let's say this is a great buy for a hotel one block off of Times Square. There's a subway entrance across the street. It's a great property, locationwise.
However, I will never stay there again, largely due to their bizarre...
Pros: Price, Times Square Location, Security Cons: Mildew Bathrooms, loose outlets, air conditioning
This is an average (2 stars) hotel at a great location and great price. The beds were comfortable, the staff was decent and the hotel has good security. However, I believe it is a gamble and if you are the type of person that does not mind a gamble and ...
Pros: Great location, safe, secure, and convenient. Cons: Old hotel, older, smaller rooms.
I am from NY, and now live in another warmer part of the country. I recently needed to visit NYC on business, and found that every single hotel in a "decent" area (meaning that a) you are IN Manhattan, not NJ or Queens, and b) you don't have to share a ...
We had a great stay at Milford Plaza Hotel in NYC! by jcanthony ,Sep 01 '06
Pros: Reasonably priced; clean; helpful staff; comfortable beds; good closet/dresser space; nice continental breakfast. Cons: Rooms a bit on the small side; no room for lounge chairs in rooms.
We booked (2 rooms)through Expedia and overall were very pleased with Milford Plaza hotel. At the time of booking, we upgraded to a Club Room, and were very happy that we did. When we checked in, they gave us two standard rooms, which were on the higher floors. We went back to the front desk and explained that we had upgraded to Club Rooms. The staff was very courteous and immediately changed the rooms. The Club rooms were actually on a lower floor, but they were more spacious, light and airy, with apparently new and very attractive carpeting and bedding. The rooms were very clean, and staff was friendly and helpful. And the Club rooms included a very nice continental breakfast.
We spent three nights there. Overall, we (two couples) were very happy with our accommodations. Our queen beds were extremely comfortable. The rooms were quiet and inviting. Although it's not as grand as other places we've stayed, we were very happy and comfortable there. We loved being within walking distance of so many of NYC's great attractions. We all agree that we would definitely choose Milford Plaza again.
ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES EVER at this 2-star (at the most) "Hotel" by xxlpickerel ,Jul 27 '04
Pros: NONE Cons: STAY AWAY. You've been warned!
BEWARE: You get a lot LESS than what you pay for at Milford Plaza!!!
My wife and I went to Milford Plaza for our 1 year anniversary. We were intrigued by what, on paper, looked like a decent deal. Milford Plaza is actually a 2-star hotel, AT MOST.
The room was the tiniest we've ever stayed in (and we have traveled all over Europe where rooms are small). Everything in the room smelled bad, of old musty furniture, the bathroom was marginally functional, the appliances old, the walls had cracks in them, the window was not closing properly, and the avenue noise from below was loud. When we approached these issues with the hotel staff they were most unhelpful, even rude. Also the two doormen we encountered were nasty and rude. A VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE! I would give this hotel an F-.
BIG on Hospitality! Loved it! Great Experience! by bamagirl08 ,Jun 17 '08
Pros: Great location, great security, Excellent service, good price, clean rooms, fast elevators Cons: Rooms are small, could use some extra electrical outlets and overall updates
Our stay at the Milford Plaza was great! From the moment we arrived the staff made sure we were taken care of. The bellstaff promptly got our luggage from the shuttle and were waiting for us at check-in. The front desk was friendly and efficient and we did not have to wait. All our requests were met above and beyond our expectations. The security guys were very helpful and friendly and I always felt very safe. The elevator system was WONDERFUL. Yes, the rooms were small and showing their age but they were clean and our view was great. We had 4 people in our room and we made it fine. The housekeeping staff was very kind and eager to make our stay comfortable. Having read many reviews of this hotel online I was overly concerned about our stay! I am a clean freak and am always concerned about the hotels we stay in. I was pleasantly surprised on all accounts. The location of the hotel is excellent. You are literally steps away from Times Square and Broadway theatres!
It's 99 bucks and walking distance to every theater by eliner ,Mar 02 '05
Pros: Great location for theatergoers, clean rooms, good security, nearby cheap eats. Cons: Water in the shower/tub came out dark brown, carpet worn out, pillows cheap and spongy.
I was just at the "Mildew Plaza" in February 2005. For the price -- a bargain in Manhattan -- I found it to be totally satisfactory. The room was small but clean. I turned on the a/c to cool off the overheating. Ask for a room on the airshaft (who needs a view of 8th ave anyway?) and it's dead quiet 24 hours.
The ice machine worked. The elevators were fast and frequent. I appreciated the tight security system (no entry to elevators w/o room key). The hotel staff was efficient and friendly. I waited no more than 5 mins in line for check-in and check-out.
Best recommendation: A lot of airline crews use this place. Best attribute for me: I was so close to the Broadway theaters that I could leave my room at 7:50 p.m. and be in my seat well before 8 o'clock curtain.
For cheap eats, there's a McDonald's half a block away, a Starbucks, a Smiler's deli. Easy to pick up breakfast and bring it back.
So what if there's no room service or mints on the pillow? With what I saved on the hotel bill, I shopped up a storm at Bergdorf's.
