Have A Safe Trip!

by mzemel Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Mar 08 '01
Pros: A quick paced card game that will soon become a favorite.
Cons: Need more than two people for the game to be fun.
The object of the card game Mille Bournes is to "drive" 1,000 miles before any of your opponents. Not an easy task since your opponents will be trying to do the same while trying to stop you by putting obstacles in your way.

Let me begin by...

I lost a lot of nights in college to this.

by HawgWyld Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Mar 08 '01
Pros: Stays fun for years, great "beer and pretzels" game.
Cons: Friends may start to hate each other after a night of this.
It would scare me if I knew how many nights I spent playing this in college. This card game is a perfect opportunity for friends to get together, drink a beer or two and just relax for a spell. Mille Bournes is a bit of a "beer and pretzels" or...

The 1000 Mile Race

by bonn8029 , Nov 17 '08
Pros: Makes a great game for game night.
Cons: Caution: may cause contention among friends.
I started playing this game at my grandparent. I love being able to play the older game they have. Mille Bourne is a card game that I can play with my parents, my roommates, or anyone that can add.  Finally, this fall I bought a copy of it so that I ...

French Driving Made Simple, Don't Stick Out Your Tongue

by rfish Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jan 20 '00
Pros: Fast Moving, Easy To Play
Cons: Addictive
Whoever would think that a card game based on driving your car would be such a hit for so long. I own one of the original games from the early 70's. I don't know when it was first created but that's when I started to play it.

We had some...

Good "family game night" choice!

by readnbead , Mar 16 '00
Pros: Lots of fun; inexpensive
Cons: was hard for me to find locally
I first started playing Milles Bornes with friends, as an adult. I had inherited an old family set, in a beat up, mildewy box from the basement. My husband and I taught friends how to play, and we (very competitively!) "Coup Fourré-d" our way...

Les meilleurs voyages de famille ont commencé à la table de cuisine (Epinion in English)

by bubbly1 , Mar 14 '01
Pros: Quality time for the family, good old-fashioned fun, no batteries required
Cons: a little complicated at first, but you can skip some of the rules
Oh, the memories ...

Our family was a close-knit unit. Many an evening would find us gathered around my grandparents' kitchen table playing games.

By the time dinner was cleared, and the dishes washed, someone had already set up...

Zee--'ow do you say?--card game superieur....

by expono , Nov 28 '99
Pros: Family card game, some strategy, some luck, enough intricacy to give it zip.
Cons: Jumps as readily to mind as "Gin Rummy!" when you ask people what game they feel like playing.
Recently, my sister got all teary-eyed at our Thanksgiving feast: "We didn't like each other as kids. It was horrible. But now we love each other. Sob."

Ah, ma soeur, ma soeur ... I always loved you and always will. But now that we...

by luckyluke7 , Nov 21 '00
Pros: simple to play, inexpensive, fun
Cons: probably won't play very often
Milles Bornes...it's great!! is my title, and I owe my senior year French teacher thanks for introducing me to the game. The cards that we had were printed in English as well as Francais. It was the perfect game to play on the day before vacation,...

Better Than Uno!

by edmayer420 , Dec 20 '99
Pros: Never Boring
Cons: Reccommended play sometimes too short
I was first introduced to Mille Bornes about 12 years ago by my mother, when I was about eight. We played it with my grandparents every time I went there for years. My little brother was very just born at this time and didn't remember the game at all,...

Le' Poof !!!

by ar_c , Apr 16 '01
Pros: cheap, fun card game
Cons: none
"Le' Poof!" - always said with a phony, horrible French accent was frequently heard around the table when we got together with our friends for a game of Mille Bournes.

The object of Mille Bournes is to travel 1000 miles before...

Great Classic!!!!!

by XXJANEXX , Dec 22 '00
Pros: Fun and easy.
Cons: none
I am 21 and have been playing this game for at least the past 10 years. As a child my mom left me with a babysitter a lot and she used to leave a lot of games for my brother and I to play. Well this was probably one of the most fun games I would...

Car Racing Game

by Anyone , Dec 06 '00
Pros: Fun for all
Cons: Can be played with two, but better with more
Mille Bournes is a car racing game from France. The point of the game is to reach a thousand miles before anyone else. Sounds like an easy laid back game of cards...or is it? In this game reaching the goal is a lot more realistic and interesting...

Mille Bournes.... Best Card Game

by honeypigg , Feb 03 '00
Pros: If your kids play it teaches them to count
Cons: None
I learned how to play this game as a child and I truly loved it then and still do. As an adult it is one of my favorite card games to play. You can play this great card game with two or more people, more fun with a lot of people.

In order to...

This is a french game!

by ByronFoxx , Dec 16 '00
Pros: fun game
Cons: learn french terms
Our family has completely enjoyed this fun card game. In particular my wife likes it!

It is somewhat complex to understand when first learning the rules, therefore your younger children will not enjoy it. After you understand the rules though...

I thought mine was the only family that played this game.

by pboy Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Dec 14 '99
Pros: oh la la... a card game that lets you speed through France in a cross-country race
Cons: game of chance
My family has been playing this game off and on for the past 15 years. When ever I mention the game outside of my family, I simply get stare or strange looks. But, quite simply, this is one of the great card games. Its up there with another favorite...
