Don't Drink the Yellow Water!

by Bryan_Carey Bryan_Carey is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Restaurants & Gourmet, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Aug 20 '02
Pros: Low Price; Makes a good tranquilizer
Cons: Watery, thin body; too grainy
Hello, fellow Epinionators! This is my first entry in a six- part series, titled “For the Love of Bad Brew”. I have selected six horrible malt beverages for the purpose of this solo write- off, which I will present, one miserable brew at a time, over...

Pros: Malty, drinkable, inexpensive.
Cons: Slight adjunct character
Ready for a surprise? This is actually a darned good beer. Of late, I have been struck by the urge to review beers that are a bit more mainstream than what I usually drink. Hey, not everyone who comes to Epinions for advice is a beer connoisseur, and I...

Pros: Easy Drinkability; Low Price
Cons: Ordinary American Lager Taste
Miller High Life has been around for a long time. The Miller Brewing Co. was founded in 1855 and is now a wholly- owned subsidiary of the Phillip Morris Company and the second largest brewer in the United States. From the early days, all the way to the...

Miller High Life - College Beer - Kind of "low life" tasting

by CyndiA Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Feb 25 '06
Pros: It's cheap.
Cons: Smells bad. Lacks taste. Then, hits you with a bad aftertaste.
Thinking of Miller High Life brings back memories of high school and college. This was back when the drinking age was 18, Miller High Life was one of the top picks for the younger set—mainly due to the low price. Miller (in various forms) is still a ...

The Stolen Beer Adventures - Miller High Life Light

by teamfreak16 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 26 '07
Pros: Cheap and effective
Cons: Very, very bland
Fall has definitely set in tonight in Colorado Springs. As I type this, it's a chilly 43 degrees out - even colder when one is speeding through darkened streets on a mountain bike, as I just was. As I rode, I found myself in a run-down neighborhood ...

Pros: Smooth and Cheap

No Carriage Horses, No Low Carb Hype, Is Miller Time Finally Over?

by kirsib , Jan 06 '07
Pros: good simple well made lager
Cons: totally outdated image
I have in front of me a glass of Miller. It is not the prettiest color, looks like very pale lager, and it does foam tad too much for my liking. I'm reading the bottle and it says "The Champagne of Beer". Frankly that sounds awful to me. Why would I want ...

I'd Rather Impale Myself On An Icicle...

by caconti Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Mar 29 '01
Pros: Without a single redemptive quality.
Cons: Over-powered and under-flavored.
In my adventures around the world, where the many of my nights were spent pickling myself with local beers and spirits, I've come across a lot of noxious concoctions.

But when it comes to popular and pathetic beer, no one can hold a candle...

Man beer (revised on 2/17/01)

by HawgWyld Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Aug 03 '00
Pros: Cheap; tastes okay; good to have at parties
Cons: A lot of beers taste about like this one does.
The folks at Miller are pretty bright. They've managed to put together an advertising campaign that markets Miller High Life as a beer for red-blooded, American males. Everyone's seen those television commercials, I'm sure. Some make fun of soccer...

Best of the Bad Bunch

by Wisdom , Jun 19 '07
Pros: Refreshing, light, crisp, great for BBQ's and hot days at the beach or pool.
Cons: Lacking flavor.

Classic Beer, Great Price

by lpteague , Apr 09 '03
Pros: Nice, mellow flavor for a macro-brewed domestic; Very cheap!
Cons: No distinguishing characteristics, skimps on hops

Pros: Cheap, effective, surprisingly not that bad
Cons: Although it's not quite Sam Adams, either

by 4-1-1 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Oct 17 '00
Pros: good quality, inexpensive, easy to find
Cons: tastes best when very cold; this is not a sipping beer

Pros: Taste Great
Cons: More Filling
I think Miller High Life beer is the best beer on the market. The reason I feel this way is because I've drank several kinds of beer from all the green bottled beer to several dark beers.Beers from all around the world. The Miller High Life family of beers...

A True Work of ART!

by borntorideatvs , Dec 12 '00
Pros: Has a GOLD Label. Let's you know you are buying a winner!
Cons: Not enough hours in a day to drink this wonderful beer.
Miller High Life has to be the most eccentric beer ever created. Why its the Champagne of Beers! You still are not convinced. Miller must use only the most qualified barley and hops. THEY DO! If they didn't use the best ingredients you would be...

The wizard of Oz.

by InTheWire , Jun 17 '00
Pros: Inexpensive, container can be recycled, patriotic
Cons: Absolutely revolting flavor
Miller High Life. The brewer seems proud of the product, and should be. No, it is not a complex and delicious brew. No, it is not fit for savoring.
What it is good for is getting drunk. Pure and simple. It may make a bold claim on the label,...

I don't think that it's beer in this bottle.

by 1360 , May 25 '00
Pros: cost
Cons: you need to put a brown paper bag around it to not be embarrassed
I'm not an expert on beer or anything, and I am on a budget, but it'll be a cold day in hell when you can get me to drink a whole Miller High Life. Sorry guys, this beer sucks. It's so watered down and has no flavor. If you're on this small of a budget...

The common man's beer.

by snowman385 , Feb 09 '02
Pros: One of the best out there.
Cons: none.
Miller High Life is a great beer for the common beer drinker. I like the plain commercials they have, no talking frogs and no catchy stupid slogans ( Whazzz Up ). Miller is a good everyday beer to take fishing or to cookouts. It has been around longer...

Yes, the Champagne of Beers.

by deltogre , Dec 28 '99
Pros: Cheap.
Cons: Your breath could melt iron.
High Life is another on the long list of my favorite beers. For the price of this stuff, you just can't beat it. However, it has a bit stronger of a flavor to it than other cheap beers, and the after taste can be deadly until you have 3 or 4. This...

Best beer

by brocket7500 , Jun 28 '01
Pros: good price. Great taste
Cons: has to overcome bad reputation associated with cheap beers
This is hands down the best beer to have on a hot summer day. Nothing tastes finer than an ice cold High Life.
There's nothing pretentious about the beer or the people that drink it. Real beer for real men. That's my observation .
I have drank...

The Working Man's Beer

by bfc82 , Mar 21 '06
Pros: Smooth taste, cheap price
Cons: maybe not the beer to buy to impress friends
Miller High Life Light tastes a lot like it's older brother,Miller High Life, with fewer carbohydrates. It ranks as one of the cheaper beers on the market. Instead of a 24 pack, this beer is popular for the 30 can pack. More beer for the buck. Like I ...

Thomas Hobbs and Miller Brewing Co.

by LanceVanSaM , Mar 01 '01
Pros: Classic Packaging, golden hue, quaint six packs, this beer just carries some fine style.
Cons: umm..., uhhh ...
Enough of all you psuedo-intellectuals of the world, turning your well-shaped patrician noses up at the sight of the Miller High Life, mocking those working class heros, sixteen year olds and people such as myself who appreciate a tasty brew at a kind...

The Worst Beer in the World

by Phenoik , May 23 '00
Pros: Cheap, available anywhere.
Cons: It tastes really, really bad and hurts your stomach A LOT.
As a poor college student, I have sampled many a terrible beer, mostly under such renowned labels as Natural, Genny, Milwaukee's Best, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Golden Anniversary... The list goes on. I first sampled High Life by accident after requesting that...

Pros: the perfect taste after a hard days work

Living The High Life

Pros: Decent body, decent flavor
Cons: Friends might laugh if they see you drinking it
Miller High Life has been around the block and back. Yes, I'll admit....I've had a few here and there. Miller High Life isn't all that bad. In fact, it is a decent beer (especially for the price). You could dump them into a pitcher and pass it off as...

Pros: THIS BEER IS THE BEST BEER I'VE HAD SINCE I STARTED DRINKING! EXCEPT HIGH LIFE!
Cons: SOME PLACES DON'T CARRY IT!
I DRANK HIGH LIFE FOR 30 YEARS. WHAT A BEER! BUT NOW LIFE HAS CHANGED A FEW OF MY BODY FEATURES, SO I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY THE HIGH LIFE LIGHT. WOW! REALLY SURPISED BY THE TASTE. I DIDN'T CARE FOR LIGHT BEERS UNTIL THE NEW HIGH LIFE LIGHT. THAT'S ALL I ...

Good for what it is
by beerlover82 ,Dec 09 '03
Pros: cheap, available anywhere, better taste than Bud and Coors products. Very good cold.
Cons: Just an average Mega-brew.Clear bottles which doesn't protect from light and heat.
OK, I'm changing this review. I was too harsh the first time I had this. I now know I bought an old, past-pull-date case the first time. This time, I decided to try it again, knowing that I figured out how to read the pull-date and I couldn't afford the better stuff. The color is pale yellow yes, aroma is of the adjuncts but some good maltiness here folks. Of course, hops are nowhere to be found here. Taste is sweet, with good malts and adjuncts (corn and/or rice) and the carbonation makes this a decent cheap mega-swill.Body is average, pretty thin but this is still pretty good for being mass-produced beer. It's no craft micro, that's for sure, but it's what it is: a decent, cheap American Standard mass-produced beer.It beats any Bud product by a long shot, and more kick to it than Coors Light.

Smooth Gold
by rydaldude ,Aug 09 '07
Pros: Inexpensive and smooth.
Cons: Not so easy to find in bottles.
An easy drinking light beer at the right price. I prefer my beers smooth and golden, not dark and heavy and without any funky aftertaste.(see Heinkien Light)
When cold, it is very refreshing and goes down easy. If you like Miller Lite and short on cash, this beer is a good substitute.

Excellent cheap light beer
by rymillert ,May 27 '06
Pros: Cheap, smooth, more flavorful than other light beers.
Cons: Hard to find.
I was a miller lite drinker for a long time. My beverage center started to carry this brew in 12 pack bottles for $4.99. I tried it and really enjoyed it.

Surprisingly, 4 out of 6 beverage centers in my area do not carry it or ever heard of it! I have a home tap system and have been unable to find a distributor who has half kegs.

It is very light and smooth. I highly recommend it over miller light

I think it's just great
by jlt1961 ,Mar 29 '07
Pros: Original taste, less calories
Cons: Not in bars yet, calories and carbs aren't as low as regular Miller Lite.
Well, I am what I consider a plain old, no frills, no "airs", VOLUME beer drinker. And I have discovered that my opinions of beer and those snooty so called beer conesuirs (see i can't even spell it) are polar opposites. I don't want a beer that bites back, or I can taste after eating anchovies, or that tastes like steeped pine bark. The lighter and smoother the better. I am not interested in a beer so heavy and full of "flavor" that I've had enough after one. No, a case is more my speed and I knocked out a case of Miller High Life Light last Saturday, got up Sunday morning and had a couple more. Now, without discussing my drinking habits, I can tell you that it is my new favorite light beer. I assume everyone has had a Miller High Life at one time in their life. If you like them, get the Light version because it is almost identical. Closer to the original than any other Light beer out there.

Good for the Price, but...
by tsured ,May 27 '04
Pros: cheap, smooth, very drinkable
Cons: lackluster flavor, extremely carbonated, get what you pay for
The main problem I have with High Life and its light version is the carbonation. At the first sip I had it figured out, it's the "champagne" of beers because it so freaking fizzy. Beer should not be as carbonated as this. Other than that the beer went down real smooth and a taste reflective of the price range, 7 or 8 bucks for a 12-pack of bottles. If you want a cheap beer for tailgating, partying, etc. this would be a decent choice. This is not a beer for a European or expensive beer drinker. That carbonation problem I mentioned will bite you in the tail if you drink this beer too fast. I think it explains people having stomach problems and worse hangovers myself.

I loved Miller so much I married one!
by grannypeanut ,May 19 '06
Pros: Pulling that clear bottle from the cooler after a hard days work. Beautifully refreshing!!!
Cons: I must hide a few, once I pull out a cold Miller, my co-workers drool!
In my childhood, I'd sit with my Daddy in his recliner as he watched a football game, and I'd take a sip of Miller High Life.(Mother never approved). When I was old enough legally, of course I tried whatever everyone else was having. I found myself more than a few times going back to what I knew and loved- Miller High Life. I met and fell in love with a man with the last name of Miller, so now, I'm like that other commercial, "I liked it so much I bought the company". Well, I can't do that, but I did take his name proudly and had 5 little Millers, now all over the age of 28, that keep it in their refrigerators. The boys have Miller on tap in their beer misers with of course, a Miller tap handle. MAMA'S SO PROUD!!!
