Pros: It looks and feels like a 35mm camera with excellent photo quality. Cons: Only a 16MB CompactFlash card is included.
The DiMAGE 7Hi is a digital camera made for the professional but can easily be used for an amateur who thinks he or she may need all the added features found on this beauty. It has a 2/3-inch CCD image sensor with 5-Megapixel effective resolution.

Pros: Best response and feel in its class; wide angle lens; mechanically linked zoom ring Cons: Average battery performance, image "noise" not quite as low as on best in this class
Minolta DiMAGE 7Hi is in a digital SLR with 5 megapixel 2/3" CCD sensor class, currently also populated by Nikon's Coolpix 5700, Sony's DSC-F717, and Minolta's own DiMAGE 7i. Besides the high pixel count, these cameras' larger, better sensors and lenses...
Pros: QUALITY PHOTOS!! 64mb buffer allows up to 7 frames per second. Awesome! Cons: Date/Text feature disappointing. Potential manufacturing defect to BEWARE of!
After doing a LOT of research and looking around, I bought the Dimage 7Hi about a month ago... and I couldn't be happier. I considered the Nikon 5700. But, after seeing it in person and trying it out, I was unimpressed. One thing that really bothered me...
Pros: It has all the desired capabilities.
Lightweight package.
Optics are well matched for the resolution. Cons: Electronic viewfinder.
Plastic body might not be rugged enough.
Before buying this camera, I had a small point and shoot digital for snapshots and a 20 year old 35 mm system with several lenses for my hobby photography. I always wanted the freedom to create my own prints, but I never had the motivation to set up my ...
Pros: Please read my previous review under 'Carlos" Cons: Poor Minolta service and attitude.
This is an excellent camera technically, however recent experiences I have encountered have led me to change my mind. The only problem is that there are only a few models available in the market in this category. Please see my previous review.

Pros: Great body and feature set.
Photo quality of digitals is very good. Cons: It is a bit bulky for briefcase carrying.
Battery consumption is high.
I am very pleased with the quality and digital output of this camera. The 28mm to 200mm (35mm equiv.) lens is excellent. The feature set is more than enough for the advanced photographer. Have taken over 2500 shots and most are good and certainly make a g ...
I have now had my 7HI for a year. I purchased this camera when we realized we were having our second child. The camera is amazing, and quite impressive. I cannot take it out without getting a comment like "wow, nice camera". This is party due to one of ...
Pros: excellent feature set
great lens Cons: not durable
poor auto focus
The features of the 7Hi have been extolled on other reviews here, and I agree it is a wonderfully full-featured camera. There is still no other camera that offers its combination of wide angle zoom lens, pc sync, imbedded profiles, etc, etc other than ...
Pros: Excellent specifications all the way around, especially 28mm widest angle equivalent. Cons: Has internal battery for clock, which must be replaced by Minolta.

Pros: Has features only found on a professional grade camera at a fraction of the price. Cons: Digital viewfinder takes some getting use to.
I bought the 7 Hi so that I could have a digital that resembled my Minolta 7xi 35mm. The 7Hi has not only incorporated all of the expansion card options that are available for the 7xi but have added many more. I am particularly pleased with the metering and filtering capabilities, including the adjustment to compensate for off-white (under fluorescent light or tungsten) and the convenience of having a spot meter override conveniently placed near the shutter button. In all, there are so many creative features in this camera I'd have to write several pages to list them all. In addition, I can use my Minolta 5600HS flash (one of the most powerful on-camera units available anywhere) with its automatic features on both cameras. After using the 7Hi I could never go back to a point and shoot digital camera again.
Pros: excellent quality of pictures. Cons: quality of the resolution for movies made with the camera.
I read the reviews for different cameras and finally settled on the Minolta 7HI. I purchased one on Ebay and have been extremely happy with it. I also purchased extra rechargeable batteries because of the different reviews saying that camera ate up batteries. I have found that by buying a higher quality battery I am getting more pictures on the batteries than I expected. I took the camera on a trip to South America and had no problems with taking pictures. I am somewhat disappointed in the quality of the 60 seconds of movie making. The resolution is fine for a small screen but not so good on a few screen viewing. Otherwise I am happy with my selection.

Pros: wide angle lens, 7x optical zoom, stable shots at low light. Cons: battery life too short, only comes with a 16 Mb card
A great camera for a great price especially with a wide angle lens (equivalent of 28mm) a feature rarely found on other digital cameras along with a nice 7x Optical zoom. If a U.S. based warranty is not that important to you then you can find the same camera for about another $100 cheaper. Minolta stays consistent with their controls so if you use a Minolta or have used one you will have no problems at all.
