only P&S to feedback focus to you
by litesong ,Dec 02 '04
Pros: Sharp lens takes advantage of sharp focus feedback. Cons: Could use similar feedback info about eminent blurring from camera shake.
Recently returned to photography & discovered the delites of P&S zoom cameras...& this Minolta extends my pleasures beyond the others. The other P&S cameras auto index, auto advance, auto-expose, & auto focus with superb results(8 by 10 inch prints are sharply easy). But this Minolta does all that & feeds back to you where its sharply focused...& gives you alternatives! You can see its computer brain working to do your bidding as Light Emitting Diode focus lines frame different subjects in your view field. If the focus isn't quite right, then you can fine tune it. When the subject you want sharp is framed by the LED focus lines, take your pic. Within the limits of subject motion, light levels, & lense-film speed this Minolta camera does more than the others to assure sharpness. Only a longer zoom range(beyond 5X?) could be nicer. But the advancements in that arena will be left to the sweeping tide of digital cameras. But enjoy now the high watermark of P&S film cameras with the Minolta Freedom AF-AREA 160 camera.

I Love this Camera!
by bdestefano ,Jan 02 '04
Pros: Love the ease with which you can switch from wide angle to up close. Cons: The camera does seem to go through batteries often.
The Minolta Freedom Zone 160 is a great camera! I am the primary photo taker in my family and have used this camera to record our two-years spent traveling across the country in an RV - our photo albums are filled with crisp, clear photos that will forever memorialize those unique moments. With a click of a button, you can take a wide angle shot, then quickly zoom in for an up close and personal individual shot. I love the first flash that generally signals the shot is taken, quickly followed by the second flash when your subject has relaxed thinking the shot has been taken, and voila! the perfect photo! I would recommend this camera to anyone interested in capturing what they love on film.
