Pros: Easy to use Cons: Won't always take the photos you want
I realized my beloved German-made Balda SLR 35mm camera had its limitations so I began to shop around for a new 35mm camera in the early 90s. I came upon the Minolta Maxxum 3xi which is much like the 300si. I was ready to explore the possibility of...
I purchased my Minolta Maxxum300s1 camera about two years ago. I paid considerably more for it than the current price. I don't regret a penny I paid for it!
For years I had dreamed of having a camera I could use to take close up and portrait...
Pros: easy to use, great photo quality, subject selection modes for better pictures, timer Cons: had a problem with the flash on ours
We purchased this camera because we love taking pictures, especially of our children and waterfalls ! Our 1st son was only a few months old when we decided we needed a better camera than what we already had. Our pictures were not the quality we...
Pros: Simple To Use, Good Interface, Good Quality Photos, Inexpensive entry to SLR cameras Cons: Lack of manual overrides on exposure settings
I have had the 300si for about several years now and have found it to be a very reliable camera. I have taken the camera hiking, skiing, canoeing and practically all over the place and have not had any problems with it on those trips. Additionally it ...
Pros: Great pictures right out of the box for the beginning to intermediate photographer. Cons: Automatic settings not easily overridden for the more experienced.
I have used my Minolta Maxxum 300si for the last three years and have been extremely satisfied with it. When I first bought it I had a very limited knowledge of using 35mm cameras and didn’t know anything about f-stops, shutter speeds, film types or...
I have owned other cameras but none are as great as my minolta! If you're looking to take pictures that can pass as professional without spending lots and lots of money.. then this is the camera for you!
Pros: Easy to use, loads of features Cons: Not a one
I take 15-48 pictures in an average month. You'd be right in saying I love to take pictures. One of the reasons I love taking so many pictures is my camera; the Minolta Maxxum 300si. I bought it several years ago as a replacement to another Minolta...
Pros: Marvelous "Beginner" Camera. 5 preset modes to help you get started. Cons: At this price, no cons worth mentioning.
An "entry level" beginner/amateur camera, it does what its' supposed to do well, make taking pictures fun and easy. I recommend this to anyone who wants to start someone else off in photography, and not scare the daylights out of them with an extremely...
I personally own a Minolta Maxxum 300si and love it. This was in my opinion my real first 35mm camera. The lens that usually come with it is a 35mm - 75mm zoom lens. The lens is detachable and interchangeable with other Minolta lenses such as the 75mm...
Pros: Easy use, price, solid construction Cons: Limits creativity
The Minolta 300si single lens reflex camera at first glance seems an excellent value. It is of much more solid construction in comparison with the Cannon equivalent Rebel series and is usually packaged with a quality 30-80mm lens, well suited for...
Works like an advanced Point and Shoot by nineinchfoo ,Nov 18 '03
Pros: Extremely easy to use; everything's automatic, sturdy construction and feel, long battery life. Cons: No manual settings
This was my first SLR and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to use camera.
As others have stated before, it does not have any manual overrides and that is quite a drawback for serious photographers. However, for casual photographers, it's much better to get this than a regular 35mm point and shoot since you can use the manual focus and make sure the shot comes out the way you want it to.
It features a powerful flash, various automatic settings (portrait, action, landscape, close up, flash), red eye reduction and a timer. You can also set the camera to full automatic and it will adjust to the situation.
On manual focus you can get a crisp image at about 10 inches or above and that was well enough for me to take some artistic close ups.
The battery life is great too, lasted me through about 40 rolls.
The bottom line is; this camera is as simple as can be and basically does all the work for you. It's great as a point and shoot and since it's an SLR, you never get out of focus photos.
