Pros: Yearning to get-away from it all? Remote, beautiful, and casually glamorous... Moorea beckons you! Cons: Paradise comes with a hefty price tag!
The French Polynesian Island of Moorea is pure enchantment: volcanic peaks rise majestically above lush and rugged rich valleys where tropical fruits and flowers grow in abundance. The skies are brilliant blue, the beaches have the finest white sand, the ...

Pros: Stunning beauty, ultra-friendly locals, modern conveniences, potable tap water, fascinating culture Cons: Expensive, 'resort life' will shelter you from experiencing local culture
The other reviews will tell you how to get to Moorea and cover some of the beautiful resorts where you can spend a whole lotta money. If a nice beach is all you're after, save some money and go to Hawaii. Since you're traveling to Polynesia though, make ...

Pros: As pretty as any Hawaiian Island. Cons: The natives are friendly-The French are-well, the French.
I just returned from Polynesia on a singles tour. There were 24 people on the trip, covering all ages. Eighteen of the group were female. Since I'm a sixty year old male fool, this was just right. First of all, let me state that we only visited the ...

Pros: Favorite island in the South Pacific (we visited 7 this summer). Cons: none
This is a rather long, but comprehensive, travelogue of my wife’s and my trip to the South Pacific in the summer of 2004. We spent 3 weeks on 7 islands (Bora Bora, Moorea, Rangiroa, Aitutaki, Rarotonga, and Fiji). The review for each set of islands are ...

Pros: Everything is so breathtaking and beautiful! Cons: NONE!
I was fortunate enough to visit this island on my honeymoon cruise through the Society Islands of the French Polynesian islands. Let me begin by saying that we started in Tahiti and although it was nice, much of it was very third world to me ...

Pros: Grogeous views, tropical climate Cons: Expensive, unfriendly locals, not much to do
Let me start off with saying that Tahiti and it's islands are beautiful. All that you heard about them is true. The island smells like flowers and the water is warm and clear. The mountains take your breath away and the dramatic climate makes you feel ...

Moorea
by johnjodi ,Oct 04 '05
Pros: Easy to get to on Air Moorea Cons: Limited Car rental
As my wife and I had a 12 hour layover on our last day in French Polynesia we decided to spend the time on Moorea. After taking the 6 minute flight from Papeete airport to Moorea, we spent a day driving completely around Moorea's coastal road in a bugster (a modified go cart with a roll cage). The scenery of the island is absolutely beautiful. Dramatic mountain peaks that seem to spring up from the ocean. Outside of the resort areas on the east coast, there were a number of small pensions, though not a lot of restaurants other than the side of the road variety. As we spent a limited amount of time on the island we only got a quick look at the main sites. Six hours is more than enough time to circle the island, get lunch and see the scenery. Make sure to book a car ahead of time, we were fortunate to get our bugster, all other rental cars were unavailable as there was a cruise ship in port. The island like the rest of French Polynesia is expensive but well worth visiting.
