Pros: Still silly and humorous Cons: Weird, abrupt ending, confusing at times
Summary: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has been taken over by a company called InfiniDim and has therefore gone corporate. This bit of news doesn’t sit well with Ford Prefect, a field researcher/contributing editor for the Guide, ... read more

Pros: Some bits are full of brilliant comedic riffs Cons: It has a dark undercurrent that's too much to bear
Summary: Depression, it’s been claimed, sometimes triggers spurts of creativity, particularly in writers and musical artists. Either that or it inspires creative people later on to give the world memorable songs or poems – such as Jerome Kerns’ “Smoke Gets in ... read more

Pros: Needs to be read for the sake of completion. One or two exceedingly funny passages. Cons: Not as good as his earlier, so in that sense kind of tragic.
Summary: I wasn’t alive to see Muhammed Ali’s last fights, but I imagine that it was awfully similar to reading ‘Mostly Harmless.’ ‘Mostly Harmless’ is a fine book in the same way that Ali circa 1977 was a fine fighter, its just reading it you know that the ... read more

Pros: Funny at times Cons: Missing characters, poor ending
Summary: For Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect and all the other wonderful characters Douglas Adams created in his hilarious Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series, it’s time to take a bow. Mostly Harmless is the fifth and final book in the (as Adams calls ... read more

Pros: Usual Adams wit. Cons: A joke whose time is past.
Summary: Mostly Harmless, the fifth book in Douglas Adams’ “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” “trilogy,” has all the elements that made previous Adams’ books both hilarious and meaningful explorations of the human condition.
For one thing, there is ... read more

Pros: See how The Hitchhiker's Guide series comes to a close Cons: The only reason to write this book was to draw the series to a close
Summary: I should probably start out by saying that this is not a bad book. In fact, it's a rather enjoyable one that, like all of the other novels by Douglas Adams, I polished off in a couple of evenings.
However, just be warned that this book, ... read more

Pros: You don't have to read it Cons: Not interesting. Bad. Lousy. Crummy. Poor. Not good.
Summary: Did you know there was a 5th book to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series? If you didn't, there is a very good reason. The book is bad. A bad plot, bad writing, bad jokes, just plain bad.
Did you like the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy? ... read more

Pros: By Douglas Adams Cons: Gets a bit much in the end
Summary: Douglas Adams - Mostly Harmless. ("Part five in the increasingly inaccurately named trilogy of four.") Funny (of course no book by DA can be really bad), but not nearly as good as especially the first two parts. I found that the Dirk Gently ... read more

Pros: funny, keeps you interested, just generally weird Cons: a few unexplained phenomena
Summary: Mostly Harmless is the fifth book in Douglas Adams' "trilogy." It is a very funny book, but if you haven't read the first four, you probably won't get as much out of it as you could after reading them. I would suggest reading the series in ... read more

Pros: Darker, more sarcastic then the other four books Cons: As always plot is nothing spectacular. If you are looking for more of the first 4 books, might be disappointed
Summary: Mostly Harmless, the 5th book in the Hitchhiker's series, is certainly a departure from the other four. While the first four are more of a lighthearted humor, Mostly Harmless is more dark and sarcastic. I think most previous fans of the series hated the ... read more

Pros: Hilarity at its best. Cons: None.
Summary: "It's very easy to get a little disheartened when your planet has been blown up, the woman you love has vanished in a misunderstanding about the nature of space-time, the spaceship you are on crashes in flames on a remote and Bob-fearing planet and ... read more
