Pros: Super simple installation, solid reliable connection. Cons: External device - additional unit that need AC plug-in and extra wires and cables.
Summary: We recently made the long debated move off dial-up Internet service to a connection through our local cable company. I purchased the Motorola SURFboard SB5120 Cable Modem which was the suggested modem for connection to Charter Communications ...

Pros: Good when it works Cons: Not Reliable. Poor customer support
Summary: I've had two of these modems in the last 9 months. Both of them have failed. Both became intermittent, the worst kind of problem to debug. With the most recent one, it took me over three hours to deal with the problem because Motorola customer ...

Pros: Easy to set up, small, compact, and, hey, it's a Motorola Cons: All the lights are on when connected and possibly mine has a heat sensitivity.
Summary: My high speed ISP seems to be working in the area a lot and recently my old trusty Toshiba modem crashed. However, the ISP tech mentioned the outside box was in serious need of replacement...as was the cable coming into the home. OK... I needed a ...

Pros: Fast downloads, simple setup, "stand-by" switch, easy to read status indicator lights Cons: At $79 sticker price, this unit is not cheap.
Summary: My old faithful Com21 cable modem croaked; after more than six years of reliable service, it suddenly did not have the ability to connect any more. I didn't suspect my modem, instead I just *knew* that the cable company was having a line problem, so I ...

Pros: works right out of the box, easy to set up, space saver, works great Cons: none
Summary: Getting ready to set up internet for ourselves, it was necessary to purchase a cable modem to extend from the computer to the cable hook-up. Being a Comcast customer, it just made sense to get our high-speed internet through the same company that ...

Pros: easy installation, better connectivity, looks good in black Cons: none so far
Summary: Up until about 2 months ago I was using an ancient (about 7 years old) Best Data cable modem with my newly acquired Vonage VOIP telephone service. At first I was having problems with dropped calls and poor sound quality so I contacted Vonage to ...

Pros: If you have a Docsis 1.1 modem, pitch it in favor of this. Cons: $60 cost beyond the crazy cable modem monthly fee!
Summary: I was having some unrelated problems and decided to see if a new cable modem would fix things. I've been running with a Toshiba PCX2200 (Docsis 1.1) for a few years, has worked fine. I got the Motorola 5120 from Circuit City with a $20 rebate, was ...

Pros: Works perfectly! Sensible light configuration and Manual Pause button. Cons: I have yet to encounter one.
Summary: Cable modems DO age. I am sure I knew this, but it simply did not occur to me that when my broadband (cable) internet connection began behaving erratically, that a worn, old and obsolete cable modem was at the cause. I had been using a (very good) Best ...

Pros: DOCSIS 2.0 compatible. As reliable as cable modems can be. Cons: Two year warranty (when purchased retail). Issues with USB on older computers.
Summary: Motorola is one of the industry leaders for makers of cable modems. One of their newest, the SB5120 is no exception. Building upon their work in the successful surfboard series, the 5120 adds DOCSIS 2.0 compatibility in a smaller package. This is the ...

Pros: Sleek design. Ha!!! It has good speed if it finally gets going. Cons: Unreliable. Poor quality. Breaks easily and often. Don't expect it to last.
Summary: I'm on my third one personally. My brother has been through two as well. The only reason we use them is because that's what time warner gives us. I would never buy this. It is very unreliable and prone to failure. I am typing this review while mooching

Pros: NONE Cons: MANY
Summary: True story: Comcast comes out to install cable line and modem at my new house. The Comcast tech tried 5 Motorola 5120 modems and none worked. He then gave me one of the sales reps modems which was also a 5120. We tested it and were able to get online.

Pros: 2+x faster then my old modem. Much better troubleshooting and diagnostic information. Easy setup. Cons: Package not great for wall mounting.
Summary: I had used an RCA Cablemodem with Comcast service for several years. Comcast recently upgraded their service in the Seattle area to 6 megabit, so I was curious to find my speed. I tried DSL reports several times and followed instructions for improving my
