The Motorola V2282 Cell Phone: Three! Three! Three Gizmos in One!

by madtheory Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Apr 17 '01
Pros: Stylish, sturdy, light, good features.
Cons: Battery life, difficult navigation, no clock.
It seems that nowadays every electronic device must be designed so that it has a secondary function that replaces another device. We have MP3 players that double as voice recorders, watches that double as MP3 players, and Palm Pilots that double as...

Pathetic.

by wiccyblackcat , Apr 01 '02
Pros: Umm. It rings. Pathetic FM radio requiring headphones.
Cons: Everything.
This is the most pathetic, pitiful excuses for a phone i've seen for a long while. Do NOT buy it unless you enjoy being constantly frustrated, let down, and annoyed.
First of all, this phone does not have a clock. I am not joking - this phone has no...

Why NOT to get this phone

by mmbianco , Dec 07 '00
Pros: design
Cons: everything: Navigation, Battery Life, LACK OF CLOCK
The Motorola V2282 is most likely the worst phone I've owned to date. I won't refer to the service quality, because it is likely to vary from place to place however, the phone itself leaves much to be desired.

Firstly, Motorola thought that...

Sufficient, but there are much better substitutes

by cptsulu , Feb 12 '01
Pros: nice design, comfortable, built-in radio, wireless internet
Cons: cannot download rings or logos, no vibrate, no clock, inaccurate gauges, convuluted menus.
Reluctantly, I'm going to recommend this phone because it really isn't that bad. The thing is, it really isn't that great either. But it suits to purpose will sufficient enough that I'd have to recommend it. There are just other phones, in the same price...

Updated Review - From 4 star to 2 star (Not a good phone)

by DCannon Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 04 '02
Pros: Styling, comfort, talk time (when you can stay connected)
Cons: No clock, menus are a pain, no vibrate, consistent dropped calls
After 6 months with the v2282, I've updated (or should I say "downgraded") this review from 4 stars to 2 stars. I'm leaving the basic introduction paragraph, afterwhich my review is quite different from the original.

After many years of doing...

The V2282 - V. Sexy

by Mariannon , Mar 08 '01
Pros: Nice curvy design, wide selection of hard and rubber covers, durable
Cons: Quite large, no clock function, radio only available through hands free kit
I wanted a V2282 from the minute I saw it advertised. The curvy design and choice of hard or soft rubber covers in a variety of colours appealed to me, as I suppose I'm somewhat a poser, and would never choose an "ugly" phone.

When I finally...

Functional, easy-to-use.

by piddy , Jun 27 '01
Pros: Relatively inexpensive, good battery life, lightweight, looks good, has a radio.
Cons: No clock (what were they thinking?)
I bought this phone with a Pac Bell Wireless plan when it was new on the market. There may be other Motorola phones that are better now but this phone has been great--and easy--to use. Problems with the service provider are another matter; below I've...

Good price for good features

by ajdajani1 , Oct 12 '01
Pros: Great design, FM radio, "PhoneWrap" compatible, good signal strength, cheap price.
Cons: Awful WAP browser, sensitive screen, no vibration, no logos/picture messages, slow processor, short battery life.
My handset has an upgraded software system, so it has a clock and some other features not available in older handsets. You can easily upgrade yours at your service provider without any hardware upgrades.

This phone has a distinguished design,...

Pros: radio included
Cons: none
This cell phone has several other features besides being a phone. It has 1,900 MHz GSM voice calling digital data capability with WAP compliant internet access. It also has an FM radio. However, you can't converse on the telephone or use the...

A phone based on a gimmick

by Shane_B , Nov 03 '02
Pros: FM Radio built in, included headset and belt clip
Cons: No clock, large size, SIM card displaces easily.
The Motorola V2292 was my first cell phone through the (at the time) Voicestream service. I was excited to get it, and excited about the prospects of a GSM phone. After using the phone for over a year, and switching to others, I ended up coming back to...

what!, no clock gimme a break

by davion15 , Sep 09 '01
Pros: cool shape, radio, different face plates, multiple ring tones
Cons: no clock
The motorola v2282 is a great phone, i can't say to many bad things about it. Although theres one thing the thing doesn't have a CLOCK! Guess what they put in there instead,a radio. I not saying the F.M. radio is bad or anything, it has really good sound...

A Mixed Bag

by bonka , Jul 01 '01
Pros: egronomic shape, inexpensive, loud ringer, several accessories included, fm tuner, minibrowser
Cons: pointless phone wraps, horrible keypad, no clock, subpar audio quality
I myself do not own this phone, but I have had access to this model from several of my friends and can make a pretty sound opinion about the v2282.

Phone:
Well in Canada, this model is offered by Fido, and at this time, there is a...

Functional, easy-to-use...but won't last forever (update)

by piddy , Aug 04 '02
Pros: Relatively inexpensive, good battery life, lightweight, looks good, has a radio.
Cons: No clock (what were they thinking?)
UPDATE, August 2002: After around two years this phone has slowly started to give out. The connection from the phome to the recharge is now so poor I need to jam the plugged in phone between several books to hold the charger in place and keep it active....

I have many voicestream phones, and becuase of the smart card technology, I now switch my phones day by day depending on my mood. I own a Nokia 3390, Ericsson T28W, Nokia 5190, and the Motorola v2282.

the motorola flop phone...

by lydia07013 , Dec 11 '01
Pros: lightweight, looks nice, changeable rubber and plastic faces...
Cons: no clock, no ringtones, poor navigation, no games, etc...
Well, I actually have a phone that has become my worst enemy. To all the ladies out there, especially if you get your nails done... this one is NOT for you. With the face plates on, the buttons become harder to access. With nails, impossible!!! Unlike...

My Cell Phone

by phie8620 , Nov 28 '01
Pros: It works!
Cons: Not the best of the best!
Unlike many of my colleagues and friends, I didn’t purchase my Motorola V2282 phone. About two months ago, I decided to head to the mall to find a new cell phone. Being a broke college student, I was not about to pay a 100 bucks for the phone I really...

basic phone with lots of functions

by dmgk , Sep 30 '01
Pros: Inexpensive, looks good, simple to use
Cons: display is small, no clock
I don't know much about all the technical features on cell phones and haven't used many of the bells and whistles on this one, like the radio and the internet access and the downloads for ring tones. I do like some of the simple features, like the...

A radio with a phone

by steveelma , Jan 20 '01
Pros: Nice design, radio function
Cons: No clock or alarm. Complicated menu.
It's an OK phone, i'm not wild about it. My wife's 2 year old Nokia is better though. I bought it mainly for the radio for those long commutes on the bus and train. The menu is too complicated compared to other phones. The price was right since they can...

NO CLOCK

by je2173 , Jan 06 '01
Pros: Cool overall
Cons: no clock
Well i must admit its a pretty narley phone, but its biggest downfall must be its lack of a clock. Thats a bummer. Can you believe that? It tells you what time people call and leave messages, but thats about it. You'll know when they left a message,...

Where do i begin about this phone...
by npgolfer ,Oct 30 '03
Pros: still searching...
Cons: no clock, bad menu screens, bad radio, connection, those rubber covers.
I had never had a cell phone before and this was my first phone. i got it with the Voicestream prepay kit and for a while it was nice. It worked well and rang but after about two months all that could go wrong went wrong. It disconnected constantly, i was sick of having to go out and buy minute cards every month, no clock, those stupid rubber covers and it had no games and an awful setup. Despite the box reading "100% digital, i knew it was not. i was also constantly asked by my friends why i had a toy phone because the rubber covers made it look fake. So i dumped it and got a Kyocera 2325 phone and it was the best choice i ever made.
