I bought the V635 from an e-Bay merchant in order to have an unlocked GSM phone for use on European travel. Before a trip, all one has to do is purchase one of several SIM cards (the memory & Operating System "tuned" to a cell phone service in the destination country) offered by US suppliers on the internet.
I used the phone on travels to Australia, Russia, England, Ireland and continental Europe since 2006. Each trip, I bought a different SIM card. It worked without failure on those travels. It sufficed for voice & text, and for e-mails. I never used the now-antiquated web browsing, since the SIM cards I bought did not include that service. I needed a reliable phone, and this one worked from Volgograd to Moscow, all along the Volga River in some very rural places.
Rarely used the camera, but it seemed to produce adequate images without much fuss.
I am retired and have no passion for digital electronics, so I am both easy to please (as to my limited demand for features) and hard to please (things must be intuitively easy to use). I liked this phone.
