Pros: Nice style, brews quickly, some great features Cons: pause and serve is emotional, sediment when using permanent filter, messy water pour system
We recently bought a house...so what does that have to do with a coffee maker? My old Krups was critically injured(the noises it was making when brewing seemed to say--please put me out of my misery) so we needed to get a new coffee maker. Since we ...
Pros: Features by the bagful, impressive style, nice materials, 12 cup capacity and reasonable price. Cons: Well, darn thing broke after 3 months, hard to pour water, broke after 3 months.
I'm quite the coffee drinker. I really need my coffee. So naturally, when I purchased a three level townhouse from a smallish 2-bedroom apartment, it was time to stop with the stairs and start my mornings with a piping hot cup of java waiting for me. ...
Pros: Great style, brews great coffee flawlessly... Cons: C'mon... NOFING'S perthect!
What a GREAT Coffee-Maker this is... an asset to our mornings and our home! When our five-year-old Black&Decker Smart-Brew recently gave out (began routinely unloading coffee down the sides of its housing instead of into its carafe), Baby - that's my ...
Pros: Great style and looks. Sturdy pot, lots of bells and whistles. Cons: The beeper. Pouring water into the machine.
It was surprising to find so many displeased souls on this site. We have had our maker for over 3 months and have not had a problem. While there are a few minor things that annoy me, this is one of the best coffee makers we've ever owned. It's a ...
Pros: Adjustable warming plate temp and brew strength/timer is nice; Cons: "Lip" in pot makes cleaning/pouring a hassle.
Saw a Target advertisement for this particular coffee maker and decided i needed it - from looks alone. I love the black/aluminum combo. It seemed like it had decent features so the wife got it for me. I haven't had it for 3 months yet, so i'll ...
Pros: stylish, lots of features Cons: big trouble with the most basic feature, brewing coffee
We bought this coffee maker without doing our usual research, because it fit the color scheme of our other appliances. And it does look very stylish. It also had a lot of features. And for the first couple of months of use, it was fine. All design and ...
Pros: Great looks, stainless steel, digital clock/analog display, Cons: Pause and pour mechanism caused coffee to drip outside of carafe and onto burner/counter.
Bought at BedBathBeyond (w/ coupon for 20% off and you can still get it cheaper elsewhere, but that is another story). The coffee maker looks great and seemed to be made better than the stainless steel Cuisinart (steel water diffuser on the Mr. C vs. ...
Pros: Great tasting coffee, Looks great, very sturdy Cons: Nothing
Well I received this coffee maker for Christmas of 2004, now as of 7 months later, this maker was laid to rest. I loved this coffee pot it looked very nice in my kitchen and didn't take up much space. It DID make a good cup of coffee. I have ready a ...
Pros: Looks nice when not in use. Cons: Leaks all over the place all the time; takes 30 minutes to brew a pot.
This is the worst coffee maker ever. I have owned many Mr Coffees over the years with no problems and considered this to be a good brand. I've owned an ftx25 for about nine months. It was fine for about three months but since then has leaked coffee all ...
Pros: Many features for the price, worth the gamble if price is an issue. Cons: Stainless steel parts, especially sides, do get hot to the touch, not burning, but close.
My hubby and I received this pot from my mother-in-law as a gift. I LOVE it's style. As an interior design artist, that is a BIG plus, especially if you have looked at the competition in this price range. That aside, functionality is still the most ...
Makes a very good cup of coffee, but.... by auntjuju01 ,Feb 16 '05
Pros: Very nice, modern appearance, with all the features you could expect. Makes excellent coffee. Cons: Functionality of the carafe questionable. A source of aggravation when cleaning or pouring from it.
We received this coffeemaker as a Christmas present, and although it makes a very good cup of coffee, and comes with all the bells and whistles, a simple thing like the carafe design has, in my opinion, been overlooked. It is hard for me to believe anyone at the manufacturer actually tested the carafe in normal use conditions.
This carafe is very hard to clean. It has a crevice where the glass attaches to the plastic top/handle. This crevice fills up when the carafe is tipped up, whether you are pouring coffee, or trying to clean it. The liquid never quite drains all out of the crevice. God forbid you should ever get soapy water in it. Also, since there is a lip, all the liquid can never quite be poured out of the carafe.
In addition, if you try to pour out the last cup of coffee, the steam from the hot liquid escapes through an opening in the top and scalds your hand.
Another thing, I still must use paper filters along with the permanent filter in order to keep the sediment out, and have not been able to find the water filters locally.
I’ll take my coffee in the pot thank you! by bunnykat ,Mar 22 '05
Pros: Looks great, love the digital analog clock. Goes well with my kitchen. Cons: Beeping is very annoying. Coffee leaks, water is hard to poor.
Everybody here has explained all the flaws of this unit very well so I'm not going to repeat them. I'm just going to write about the flaw that REALLY bothers me.
Well, everything was going great for the first three months and then it started leaking coffee. The coffee appears to stream down from the pause 'n serve lever to the lip of the pot and the down the back of the pot. Ive tried cleaning it, repositioning the filter basket, taking the pause n serve lever off completely (the coffee still manages to drip down the pot!) nothing works. I just dont see how it could work fine for three months and now it leaks, there is no explanation for it.
We purchased this coffee maker because it looked good, matched our new kitchen and appeared to have ALL the things we wanted in capabilities. Well, almost from the beginning I noticed that it was hard to fill with water without spilling. When I noticed water around the bottom I thought I was just sloppy at pouring and I mopped the water up. Well, needless to say, I now know it was not me! It was the machine all along and that though we paid a good deal of money for it, it is little more than a piece of junk. I am sorry we ever bought it. The $25.00 coffee maker I had, that did not match my kitchen was a far superior machine. At least it worked....and for 7 years I might add.
Pros: Looked nice when I pulled it out of the box Cons: reliability
Bought new lasted 7 months, replaced at no charge. Replacement lasted 4 months, the clock area started filling with condensation, then the area turned black and the buttons wouldn't respond. Now the unit is out of warranty. Found out the warranty started from the original purchase date. What a crappy way to warranty a unit with such a bad history.
Pros: Easy to deal with, looks great, brews quickly. Delay brew feature works well for us. Cons: Takes time to "season" the pot. Frequent water filter changing is a pain.
So far we've had great luck with this appliance. After reading the negative reviews, I feel lucky! At the time I purchased it there were no reviews posted and it was recommended by someone else. We've had it almost 4 months and have had no problems at all. Seems the early stopping problem is sporadic. I love the delay feature and, although we often decant into a thermos, it keeps the coffee warm for 2 hours, then turns it off. I would say that if you can get one that works, you've got a great little machine.
