Easy to set up, ultra light weight, Sadly, not worth the condensation by squee_monkee ,Jun 12 '07
Pros: Spacious, light weight, easy to set up Cons: Horrible condensation under any conditions
I was super excited about my new Missing Link Tent. I loved the shape, style, spaciousness and most of all I LOVED how lightweight and compact it was!
That was, until I slept in it.
The condensation was so bad that everything in our tent ended up being soaking wet by morning even after waking up several times throughout the night to towel dry the walls.
We set it up on a very level spot to ensure the best possible ventilation and it wasn't even that humid out, yet we still woke up three nights in a row soaking wet and were forced to hang up all of our clothing, pillows, blankets etc. outside during the day to dry out.
Needless to say, we returned our tent to where it was purchased and I am now doing more extensive research to find a tent that will keep me dry throughout the night.
MSR Missing Link is an ultra light, single wall, two-person tent: almost sorta perfect! by airbonesjones ,Jan 25 '06
Pros: lots of space, little weight, big vestibule, doesn't leak, zippers perfect, sturdy floor, packs small Cons: too big for tent sites, bright orange, long guylines, flaps in wind, condensation bummer
Having used this tent to hike the Appalachian Trail, I will attest to it's durability and weightlessness, only 3lbs. People were always commenting on how huge it was. Once there were 3 people in it. I'm 5'7" and I had room at my head and feet for my backpack. Can sit up in it. Sets up with hiking poles. I loved it. The space for the weight can't be beat. In the rain I could cook under the vestibule, leave shoes outside and they wouldn't get wet. The orange color is cheerful, but not stealth.
Cons: size makes choosing a campsite more difficutlt, condensation builds up in rainstorms, when tenting near a river, when on grass, and when it snows--it snows inside!! kind of fun, j/k. Also, the guylines extend out forever in order for the tent to be taut, so people (myself included) tripped over them all the time.
