Pros: Light
Bullet proof
Simmers as well as goes on "blowtorch" mode Cons: Expensive
Doesn't carry my pack for me
I bought this to replace an MSR Whisperlite that functioned flawlessly in all regards, even creating the wonderful flameburst effect if you fill the bowl to high when you prime it. What I noticed first was that it was just as kooky looking as ...

Pros: Small, compact, boils water quickly. Cons: Difficult to light on uneven surfaces or in wind. Doesn't simmer.
I purchased this stove thinking it would be a light weight alternative to my MSR Dragonfly. While the Simmerlite is indeed lighter, its actual weight with pump, windscreen, cleaning tool, and stuff sack is about 12.25 ounces, a mere 6 ounces less than a ...

Nice Stove
by wekees ,Dec 17 '04
Pros: Light weight. Hot, even quite flame, not loud. Cons: Too light. Other campers wondered if the stove was capable.
Light, efficient, works very well. I bought this stove after reading several reviews, wondering if I would have the same problems. I used the windscreen one morning and the stove lit perfectly. That evening, it wasn't windy, the stove lit perfectly again. I followed the instructions for lighting the stove and perfect again. I was able to produce the "fireball" on this stove, just as I was able to on my old Dragonfly... just need to follow the directions and the stove works perfectly. As long as you realize that there is residual pressure in the line, you will be able to adjust the valve to simmer without any problems. I love this stove, it works.

Doesn't simmer, consumes a lot of fuel.
by michaeldaly ,Jun 20 '05
Pros: Small, light Cons: Doesn't simmer, uses a lot of fuel.
It's nice and light, packs compactly, but if you like cooking (as opposed to just boiling water) it's an inferior product.
I usually get away with a 375ml fuel bottle for a weekend, but this stove drained it dry. It was impossible to get it to simmer.
Having used the DragonFly for years, I found this stove to be a pathetic replacement. I'm going back to the DragonFly.
