Pros: Easy to prepare, good concept Cons: Didn't like mesh or cleaning
I never thought to try this product with my first child - honestly, I was too afraid to feed him fresh fruit in the first place. But I eagerly purchased it for my second child, knowing that I wanted to expose her to a wide variety of foods at a young ...
Pros: fresh food, no choking hazard Cons: Cleaning it
We were at some store the other day- Target- Wal*Mart- one of those places- and we came across the Munchkin Food Feeder. I had seen these contraptions before- the baby I took care of before I had my daughter had one of these feeders. And when I saw it, ...
Pros: helps baby learn biting and chewing; easy food prep Cons: clean-up is a struggle
My eleven-month-old has food issues, as in "has no teeth but won't eat mashed food" issues. He's just now starting to get a couple of teeth, but in the meantime, we've been chopping up food into tiny pieces and cooking food to death to make it easier to ...
Pros: easy to use, great for ice, dishwasher safe Cons: food can get caught in the mesh
Getting my son to eat has been a struggle. Even at 13 months old, he is a picky eater and often doesn't eat more than a few cheerios and pieces of cheese. But back when we were still doing the pureed food, we were constantly trying to think of new ways ...
Pros: Provides a way to feed baby fresh, healthy food with little effort. Inexpensive. Cons: Younger baby may have hard time gripping handle.
Right at this very moment my 6 month old son is munching on fresh unpeeled grapes. "What is that crazy lady doing?" you say. Relax! Don't worry! This modern miracle is all thanks to Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder. As a working mother with two ...
Pros: Great invention, helps mommy. Cons: Kind of hard to clean, slightly heavy for new eaters.
I bought one of these with my third baby, and recently bought a new one for my fourth. I really like the idea of this, and the mild downfalls that come with it do not override the helpfulness of the product. At only about $5, it is worth trying it out ...
Pros: Eliminates the risk of choking! Almost any semi solid food can be used in here! Cons: One of the messier eating methods for babies.
One day, shortly after baby Greg turned 6 months, I was perusing the isles of Walmart, looking for some new feeding stuff. I was greatly surprised to find this interesting Feeder. What an interesting concept…a nice, sturdy handle for baby to hold onto ...
Pros: Great for pretty much any food, Cons: Can be messy, hard to clean food out of the mesh, top can come off
We absolutely LOVE our Munchkin Fresh Food Feeders! We received 2 of them from my mother-in-law when my daughter was about 6 months old and we were just starting her on fresh solid foods. They turned out to have a double benefit- not only were they a ...
Pros:Easy to hold Able to introduce foods I wouldn't otherwise. Great for teething! Keeps baby occupied Peace of mind! Cons: Takes a few minutes to get completely clean. A little messy.
My 6 month old loves to eat! He'll try (and usually love) anything we give him, but we're limited because of the choking hazard. I spotted the Fresh Food Feeder at Walmart and thought 'what the heck?' Best $3 I ever spent! I put anything from bananas to avocado to chicken in it and he goes to town! One suggestion: let baby go at it in just a diaper, as the food does end up all over him; however, he loves it so much, it's totally worth the clean up.
This leads me to cleaning the mesh bag. Not easy, but I find that if I soak it in a bowl of soapy water before the dishwasher, the food stuck in the seams comes right out.
I only have one, but on my next trip to the store I'm going to buy a few more -- great product!!
Pros: Promotes introduction to table foods, convenient, and fun! Cons: Makes things a bit messy, but that's expected!
We love this product! My 7 month old daughter loves to eat, and cries whenever we won't share with her. Now we just put fruit, or some veggies in this, and she is happy sucking away at it. She loves it! I only wish that I had thought of this first..... what a great idea! A good friend recommended this product to us, and I'm glad she did.

Pros: Safely feed fresh foods Cons: Can not get bag clean
This is an awesome idea with one big flaw. I was so excited when I found this product, because after tasting Gerber bananas baby food(tastes sour and bitter like unripe banana) I wanted to give my daughter real banana without the risk. Well, I bought the Munchkin, washed it for first use safety , put the banana in and she absolutely loved it! Afterwards, I went to wash it out and could not get it clean. Washed it over and over trying everything including a bottle brush and soaking in boiling water. I could not get all the little bits of food out of the nooks and crannies of the mesh. I called the company and they said they started out with disposable bags, but those didn't work...my guess is people bought it and tried to reuse the bags which couldn't hold up to multiple uses and then complained. I dearly wish they would make a disposable system available again because it was a wonderful feeling being able to give my daughter fresh foods without fear of choking, but I cannot use their product because it can not be sufficiently cleaned. Bummer!
Baby Likes Her Lil' Net! by alisons-mom ,Aug 17 '08
Pros: Baby gets to try fruits & veggies - and gets teething relief!! Cons: None!
Our five-month old has "eaten" a few fruits & veggies using the Munchkin net feeder. We love it! She can sit at the table with us and enjoy a taste of what Mommy and Daddy are eating. It keeps her busy and it is preparing her to begin eating solid foods.
I'm not sure that we will use this item to "feed" our baby once she is old enough for solid foods, but we have found a great use for babies her age (5-6 months) - soothing relief for teething by allowing her to bite on frozen fruit through her Munchkin net.
This product is easy to open or close and easy to clean, especially for those of us who wash our babies' feeding items soon after our babies finish eating. I have never seen a parcel of food get caught in the net.
I am surprised that this product would fray, as one user described, since the seam is completely concealed. Perhaps that was a knock-off brand or one of the feeders with disposable nets.
Pros: Very safe, and fun for baby. Cons: Hard to clean, and hard to snap open.
We have used this with banana's, mango, frozen grapes, and frozen breast milk. My baby loves it, and my older kids get a kick out of watching him munch down on the blue mesh.
Pros: Tasty teething relief! Cons: Mango is messy!
We never used this product to "feed" our twins, but it was great for teething relief. We put chunks of frozen bananas and other fruit inside to soothe their sore gums.
Pros: Great idea Cons: Poor product design; seam frays after first use!
Great idea - very poor product design. The seam on the inside of the pouch frays and leaves behind little fragments of colored cloth that the baby can swallow, after FIRST use!
Allows baby to enjoy great flavor & nutrition of whole food while reducing the risk of choking. Colored mesh reduces staining. Simple & easy to use. P...More at eCOST.com
