Murad's Acne Kit is AMAZING! by marisanicole ,Oct 04 '04
Pros: It's absolutely amazing. After one use, I could already see the results. Cons: NONE!
Murad's Acne Skin Care line is amazing! You have to go out and buy it. The cleanser is refreshing and tingly. The exfoliating gel is soothing and has helped reduce the oiliness of my skin. I love the acne spot treatment. It promises to immediately reduce redness and it does exactly that. My favorite is the Skin Perfecting Lotion. Its very light and has improved my skin tone tremendously. It has completely rid me of blotchiness. I highly recommend it!
Takes a while but it WORKS!!! by kygirl401 ,Feb 15 '05
Pros: Attractive packaging, and the product works! Cons: Price
I have had persistent moderate acne for almost 10 years and I tried everything-- I even took Accutane for 5 months but it didn't get rid of my acne. This system is the only, I repeat ONLY, thing that has worked for me! The instructions indicate your skin will purge for anywhere up to 2 months. Well... my skin ended up purging for almost 4 months which was very discouraging at the time but it was definitely worth it! My skin is completely smooth all over and I have no blotchiness or breakouts! I love it!!! If you are on this product and your skin is purging, keep at it! It will get better-- take it from someone who had acne that no other product would help!!
The Perfect Introductory Kit by jacoby1 ,Aug 23 '04
Pros: clears up blemishes without excess drying Cons: none
Murad Acne Complex Starter Kit is perfect for sampling the Murad Acne line to find out what product works best on your skin. I was experiencing terrible and painful blemishes, but I really wasn't sure if Murad skin care would clear up my skin. I decided to try the kit, before I purchased the larger size products. Within five days of using the kit, I noticed a positive difference in my skin. The blemishes on my forehead disappeared, my skin was not so inflamed looking nor was there excessive drying. Within four weeks, I had finished the kit as well as saw a major decrease in my facial breakouts. It has been two months, and to this date, the Murad Acne Complex Starter Kit has been the only product to clear up my skin.
Murad Acne Complex Starter Kit by daria78 ,Oct 09 '04
Pros: clears blemishes faster Cons: the smell is annoying/unpleasant!
I just purchased the Murad Acne Complex Starter Kit about 5 weeks ago. I've tried everything else and nothing worked...I have mild to moderate acne (consisently 2-3 pimples on my face) I've actually started breaking out more after using the product, however I believe that it brings all the blemishes out "to the surface " in order to clear it up. I have noticed they disappear faster...I've also consulted the Murad website & they are extremely helpful with questions. I'm continuing to use the product in hopes that eventually my skin will completely stop breaking out. I do not like the salicylic acid smell.YUCK
Murad Acne Complex works miracles! by sjincali ,Feb 18 '05
Pros: It works! And it's affordable! Cons: None!
After trying everything from drugstore brands to prescriptions from my dermatologist, I finally found a product that works! I'm 22 and I've have stubborn acne with combination skin for the past 4 years. I thought it would never go away! Then a salesgirl at Sephora recommended Murad Acne Complex so I gave it a shot. Within a week my face was much smoother and my acne felt less irritating. It's been only 3 weeks now and my acne is almost completely gone! I've been getting so many compliments--I never thought the day would come that I would have clear skin again. It's a miracle and I recommend it to everyone!
Takes time to work, but pretty successful by michelle13 ,Sep 02 '06
Pros: ingredients didn't burn my skin off like proactiv did, one $60 kit lasts 3-5 months Cons: price may or may not justify how long it takes to see results; "purging" sucks.
I've been using this pretty consistently for about 6 mos, and it took maybe half that time for the purging process to finish up, and I have mild to moderate acne, so I was a little frustrated a/b that, but now when I break out around my period, instead of a crop of pimples, it's like one or two, and then I'll just use the spot treatment and it's gone in 2 days or so. Not sure if the price justifies the outcome, b/c if I remember correctly Neutrogena was almost as effective in less time and $$ (if I stuck w/the regimen consistently), so I'm not sure if I will buy another kit (this is the $60 kit I'm talking a/b). I only tried it b/c the commercial said it'd be a great alternative to Proactiv, which I had an adverse reaction to (after 2 wks of using proactiv, it hurt to simply wet my face with WATER!). So it's good/ok overall, but the moisturizer isn't critical to use. Faves are the cleanser, gel and the spot treatment. Mask is okay.
Works....For a little while by stepmomandmom ,Jul 27 '06
Pros: Worked for a little while Cons: stopped working after a years worth of continuous use.
I used this kit a couple of years ago. The salicyclic acid in it really helped to begin clearing my skin and preventing new break outs, but I hit a plateau. It stopped working after about one year of using this product. Bummer.
It was however very easy to use, smelled okay, and didn't burn my already sensitive skin.
I'm going to be a beautiful bride! by philyra ,Feb 10 '05
Pros: Doesn't burn or sting. Formulas are refreshing. No redness! Cons: Pricey, but worth every penny!
I have struggled with acne for over 13 years. Not just a pimple or two here and there. It was severe, painful, social life-wrecking acne! I've been to dermatologists, tried the prescriptions, ordered stuff from infommercials, tried the OTC junk, and nothing ever worked. I tried the Murad system thinking it wasn't going to work either. However, to my surprise and delight I began to notice a difference. I supposed the results wouldn't last. Again, I was surprised. Not only did the results last, my skin continued to improve! The greatest day for me was the day I was able to go out wearing only tinted moisturizer on my face! No more cakey foundations or gloppy concealers! I'm going to look great on my wedding day! I recommend this to anyone who is about to give up. Give it a try. What it promises, it delivers!
I can't believe all the positive reviews by honeymarie ,Dec 09 '06
Pros: Customer Service Department is Helpful Cons: IT DOES NOT WORK! MAKES YOUR FACE WORSE!
This product made my face 10 times worse than before I ever started using ANY acne products.
I spent way to much money to torture myself and my skin to the point where I don't feel like leaving my house.
Normally you would take before and after pictures to see the improvement - trust me, if you were to see the before and after pictures of when I started using Murad - you would NOT buy this product.
Proactiv worked for me, but I never got my stuff in time, so I switched to Murad and then back to Proactiv.
Proactiv is now healing the MESS Murad left on my face.
I used Murad for a 3 full months in which the entire time I was told it would get better and hey, buy some MORE expensive products to help with the purging process - but what they don't tell you is that for EVERY new item to add to the process to help speed up/improve your skin - it would make you purge AGAIN. I guess this is how they stay in business!
MURAD ACNE COMPLEX- BUYER BEWARE by danieljpogue ,Jan 13 '05
Pros: NONE Cons: Worsens skin, Just Does not work!
I'm not here to write a well formatted review to be approved of by epinions weirdos. I just want to say that I could not be more disappointed with the murad acne complex kit.
Results in 4 weeks? I used it for 3 months. At first there was no change, so it was not good or bad. Then I started breaking out with little bumps on my temples that had never happened before in my life. They just don't go away. I stopped using it today. I have about 3 times more pimples than I did before. Compared to 3 or 4 I would usually have, this is just not acceptable.
If you're a pretty boy/girl who whines when you get a pimple, this will probably work for you. But if you actually have skin that has required a dermatologist (who probably failed you as well), then I would keep looking. I wish I would have believed the negative reviews I found before I wasted $100 for 3 months of this garbage. We can put man on the moon, but can't clear up acne. Go Science!
Pros: no pros Cons: it caused more breakouts and gave me headaches
I used this product for a little more than a week and broke out all over and had headaches.. it was just terrible.i will never go back to acne murad. Just a horrible experience.
Pros: We'll see... if it works, that will be a pro. Cons: So far, break outs are worse. BURNS zits too.
I have been using Murad Acne (the whole kit) for about 3 weeks now. My skin is HORRIBLE (worse than before)!!! I will give it the benefit of the doubt for a while longer though because I just started my period which is my normal breakout time and the product info says my skin will "purge"... so maybe I will give it one more month to see... but so far, NOT so good! I have more zits, bigger zits, and more painful zits. And the spot treatment (which I am trying a new way of applying) BURNS and FRIES my zit leaving a burned crater. We'll see.
Pros: Moisturizer does help dried out skin. Cons: Dries out skin, BURNS
I used Murad this year, and bought the starters kit for $35. I'm glad i didn't buy the $60 one, because it really wasn't worth it. I have normal skin with an oily t-zone. and it REALLY dried out my skin. I still have breakouts, and am not pleased with the product. It's a little better than Pro Activ (which is awful) but i still have breakouts and red bumps. The Acne Spot Treatment stuff doesn't work at all, my acne was still there. If i were you, I wouldnt buy this product. I would recommend Noxzema, which you can buy at a drugstore. It's much CHEAPER.. ($7) and actually clears up your skin. Pretty Pathetic that this works better than a $60 set.
Only thing that would work for me! by jaimsy117 ,Feb 08 '07
Pros: No irritating fragrances, feels cool and clean, and it works! Cons: A little more pricey than drugstore products.
I had tried everything from drugstore products to proactiv. Murad was the only thing that would work for me. I absolutley love it and don't know what i would do without it. I love the way the cleanser feels, cool and clean. The lotion is light but yet moisturizing enough for my combination skin. I also love the clarifying mask which i use once or twice a week. The gel is probably my most helpful product though. I use it every night or if it becomes too much during the winter, I use it every other night. I cannot even express to you how much this product worked for me. At least try it, you may be suprised!
I purchased this kit for my 13 year old daughter who has tried just about everything else. After 11 days of worse breakouts (huge, painful cystic acne), she went off of this and her dermatologist had to prescribe prednisone to get the swelling to come down. I emailed Murad and they claimed that it is either the purging process (could take up to 4 weeks) or she was allergic to the exfoliator. Since she was starting school in 2 weeks, we chose to stop it all. It is now 2 weeks later and she's still having to deal with the after effects.
Don't know if it would have ever stopped purging....wasn't worth trying at this point. Made her skin a mess for school.
Pros: Face feels clean. Huge acne spots gone with one treatment of spot treatment Cons: NONE
I got my package in the mail. After reading the reviews, I was a little worried about using it, but went ahead anyway. I LOVE the smell - it smells so clean. My face feels great also. I used ProActive for about two years a while back and my face never felt clean. But, with Acne Complex, my face feels clean. I had a few huge mountains about to creap up on my face. So, I used the acne spot treatment. The next morning, no mountains!!!! I've only used this product for about a week, but I'm sold. I will never use any other product on my face - ever.
Pros: NONE! Cons: Too expensive, doesnt work, makes your face irritated and red.
This product was just awful for me! The package claimed skin would be clear in four weeks. After only 3 weeks I had to stop using it because it made my entire face red,raw and irritated. It also made my acne worse. The product has ingredients known for irritating skin like peppermint. The lotion was way too greasy, and the gel was too drying.
I would never use this product again.I think their infomercial is completely bogus saying it treats other conditons such as Roseaca or dermatitis, when a dermatologist is usually needed for those types of skin issues and this product would surely just aggravate them more!
If this product doesnt work for you, dont feel discouraged because they promise perfection.Do like me,take that sixty bucks you spent on this horrible product and go to a dermatologist who specializes in acne and get a treatment that acually works!
I have been using the Murad Acne Kit for a month now.I saw a difference within 2 weeks of using this.I am 27 and never had acne before untill 2 years ago.I have used Proactive which made me break out more and didnt clear my skin.I saw Murad on TV and thought I would try it.I am glad I did.I am having a few breakouts right now, which are not bad at all.I still have blackheads and hoping they will too go away with time.I do get dryness around my nose and mouth. But when I use extra lotion it helps.Anyone who is thinking about trying this should. You have 60 days to return it and get your money back. Why not try it!My second shipment has just been sent and I will continue to use this product as long as I still see improvement.
I've used Murad Acne Complex Kit for Years..... by tgcar ,May 23 '06
Pros: simple to use, no chemical smell, cleared acne quickly Cons: NONE!!!!
I discovered the Murad Acne Complex Kit about six years ago and have been using it since... It cleared my acne up within weeks and has kept the acne away. Some products I tried dried my skin out but Murad Acne Complex leaves it feeling clean and hydrated without all the chemical smells. I recommend anyone with acne try Murad Acne Complex to see if it will work as well for you.
Need Answers from Users by scoleman2132 ,Jun 18 '08
Pros: Need answers. Cons: Break-out where I never did, but I need answers.
I just bought Murad this past weekend. I've been using it for 3 days, and it seems to be getting worse. Im starting to get acne where I never had it and some are scabby. Am I getting acne because it is taking out all the gunk in my skin, or is it just not the right brand of cleanser for me?
My husband heard a radio commercial regarding the Murad solution and ordered if for me. I've been using it for 4 days now and can see the difference. I suffer from mild to moderate acne and have not tried may things except over the counter creams and Proactive. So far I am pleased with the results. I love the way the product feels on my face. My husband also purchased the post acne spot lightning gel which has already lightened scars caused by prior breakouts. I love it!! After reading some of the other review, I am nervous about possibly going through the purging process. I am hoping this will not happen. I will write another review in a month or so to advise of my results!!
After two weeks of use... by billowbay ,Mar 06 '08
Pros: fast acting, cleans off makeup (including eye makeup) Cons: starter kit comes with very small samples, smells like medicine, dries skin out first
After two weeks of use, I've noticed clearer skin and much smaller pimples. I got this product because it emphasized not just acne, but other skin conditions like Rosacea, which I believe is my condition. I'm 27 and never had skin problems until two years ago. The dermatologist gave several medications that REALLY irritated my skin, so it was a waste of money. Murad seems to be working but I'm still concerned about the redness. The first 4 days, by skin was painfully dry and itchy, but that subsided. A little hydrocortizone cream did the trick. I will finish the product and hope that the progress continues. This may be the purging period, but I expect clear skin in two more weeks. I will leave another review.
MURAD is not the miracle cure i was hoping for by phopson ,Jul 30 '08
Pros: for me, there were none. Cons: I think the sulphur dried out my skin... making me worse than i was before.
I have had acne for most of my life. Although it was MUCH worse in my early teen years, I am 27 now and am still struggling with my oily skin. I saw the infomercial and was excited to try MURAD because it seemed like a gentler approach to curing the acne without drying my skin.
The first couple of weeks, I experienced the "purging" breakouts, but I stuck with it. During week three, my skin began to stabilize and I though that maybe it was getting better. However, I still wasn't impressed with the status of my skin; although there were no pimples, I was still very oily at the end of the day. Late last week, my chin broke out in an irritated rash that is very dry and itchy. I quit using today... I'm hoping that will return my skin to normal.
Pros: None. Cons: Expensive. Wasted my time. Increased spots and made them worse
I'm 18 and have quite bad acne so i decided to try Murad starter kit. I have been using it for about 6 weeks and I'm getting alot more breakouts each day. This has definitely not worked for me. I MIGHT HAVE WELL JUST RUBBED MY FACE WITH THE CARDBOARD BOX IT CAME IN!! IT IS USELESS.
let me tell all of you something, there are many reviews which say that this complex is BAD for you because it causes more breakouts. But it will work straight away for the person who has LOTS of acne and whiteheads because that person is not ABLE to produce any more spots or pimples because they already have enough on their face, so this will only work STRAIGHT AWAY for the person who has a really bad condition... for the people who are complaining, it is because they only had a small amount of pimples to start with when they used this product.. and now they are complaining.. well maybe you people need to stop being such girls and use a less expensive, less powerful product because you are not suffering with such BAD acne ... even though you may think you are.if you used PROACTIVE before and find it irritating it is because of the peroxide, so if you found proactive bad for you then this will be a much better choice.
Cleared small ones, Created BIG ones by reviewer1821 ,Jun 29 '08
Pros: Excellent moisturizer; the gel shrinks pores and evens out skin tone Cons: created huge, cyst-like pimples in previously normal areas
The product worked for me for about a month. However, about 3 or 4 weeks ago I started to get HUGE, Cyst-like pimples on my chin and temples. I never used to have problems on my temples, and the breakouts I previously had on my chin were nowhere near so horrendous. The pimples were the worst pimples I've ever had in my life and they're only JUST now going away after I switched back to Proactiv. I've never had such disgusting pimples before - it was really awful. I cannot really put into words how bad these pimples were. Luckily it wasn't all over my face.
Additionally when I called to cancel my subscription to the acne complex kit, I was told it was cancelled, and then had a charge on my card a couple of days later. I called again and the service representative told me my account wasn't actually cancelled. So clearly the people who work there are also incompetent.
Pros: Lotion isnt oily Cons: Gave me more acne not cleared it up
I was so excited when i received the box. It came very quickly and the customer service was great as well. My acne got worse then EVER. I used to use Proactive but it would dry my face out really bad so when i saw the infomercial said it didnt dry your face like proactive i decided to give it a shot. My acne got worst but it says that it will get worst within the second or third week and then will clear up. I have already used up my 30 day kit and my second shipment has already arrived and my acne is even worst then ever. I never had so many Zits all over my face. My checks, nose, chin even eyebrows and upper lip. Im going back to proactive. It dried out my face but at least it kept me clear.
I used it the first day and the cleanser just didn't feel like it was strong enough. It doesn't lather and seems very watery and weak. After the first day I already knew it wouldn't work as I felt more and more pimples were starting to come on. 3 days later after using the same routine I couldn't continue using the product anymore despite reading that it's normal for breakouts to occur when you first start. This isn't supposed to happen. It's supposed to get better, not worse. Who has ever heard of it supposed to be getting worse from the start - that's so stupid. It makes no sense. For people with acne, do not use this product. Their other products may be okay for aging skin, but not acne. ANYTHING else is better than this.
Pros: skin perfecting lotion! Cons: exfoliating gel,the kit in general if you have SENSITIVE SKIN.
I purchased the kit 2 months ago..... followed the instructions .... my skin broke out in these red impurities the first week.. they said it should be over by the second "PURGING". by the third my skin wasn't any better only worse than before i started.. the exfoiliating gel burns and irritates sensitive skin which i have ..... I couldn't risk any further use of the product I stopped using Murad during the 3rd week.. I decided to go natural, I bought aloe vera soap, bought an aloe plant, aloe vera mosturizer, and aloe vera juice.... I wash twice a day.. pat dry.. apply the aloe gel from the plant...apply mosturizer...mix the aloe juice with water and drink 4 to 8oz a day... Ive been doing this for about 5 weeks now... not only has my acne cleared up but those previous scars are gone.. my skin feels smooth and I look good.. If you have SENSITIVE skin go natural.. you never know what type of sh** these people mix in their products...
ALOE IS THE BEST!
Pros: The cleanser smells good and the toner feels very refreshing. Cons: Caused irritated, red, and dry/scabby blemishes.
I never had acne issues as a teenager, but now that I'm in my late twenties, I'm lucky enough to have problems! I went to a nice spa for a facial and the skin therapist recommended I try Murad products. The instructions say to try it for at least 6-8 weeks and to let your skin "purge". I tried Murad Acne Complex for 5 months and my skin seemed to get worse instead of better. I feel like it is still purging. While using this product, pimples seemed to appear more frequently and there were more of them. Not only do they look horrible, but some of them are painful. It was a complete waste of my money and time during those 4 months considering I ordered the toner as well, thinking it would increase the effectiveness of the kit. It is very frustrating knowing that I spent a good deal of money on the products and 5 months and I saw no improvements at all.
Pros: It diminishes the acne over time. Cons: It does not clear up the acne.
I've used it now for 3 months consistently. It does not work well for me. It diminishes my acne, but does not get rid of it. I am, however, constantly battling with my acne.
Pros: None Cons: Your life will change... for the worse
Murad claims that 95% of users experience dramatic results. It is clearly false when you read the amount of negative reviews here and at acne.org. For me, using murads products was the beginning of a nightmare that i'm still battling (2-3 years later). New breakouts all over from the beginning, which only stopped when i began to use gentle products and technique. They claim that breakouts in the first two weeks are NORMAL, just "old one's pushing through". Complete BS. Why should a product make your face worse in new areas before it gets better?
Please avoid at all costs, or your face may NEVER look the same, from intense scarring and ruined surface. PLEASE AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Non-drying.
Smooths out texture of skin.
Very effective! Cons: Expensive, but worth it.
I had dealt with some form of acne since I was in middle school. Finally when I got to college I went on birth control and my skin cleared right up. Recently, however, I stopped taking birth control, and I broke out all over my face. I tried Proactiv since it had worked wonders for me when it first came onto the market when I was in middle school. However, this time all it did was make me break out in tiny red bumps all along my jaw line and forehead. I gave it a month, but my skin refused to clear up, so I returned the product. Then I ordered Murad Acne Complex, and I have been using it for a week and a half. So far, my skin seems clearer and smoother than it was before using the product. The best part about the system is the Acne Spot Treatment, which dries up pimples almost instantly! It's amazing, I put it on and 5 minutes later the pimple has shrunk to a quarter of its original size!
