Pros: voice volume, portable, compact, easy to setup and use Cons: does not say street name when providing instruction; no paper manual included
I purchased the Garmin StreetPilot i2 after a co-worker of mine researched it for his children (19 and 17). Found it on WalMart.com for under $200. I haven't purchased a GPS unit before this because they were very expensive and I couldn't warrant ...
Pros: Simple to setup and use. Clear visual and audible prompts. Compact, easily carried & stored. Cons: Clumsy interface. Buggy, out of date mapping software.
I bought an i2 from West Marine on 12-28-05 for $186.99. I've used it extensively for the past two months. Here are my impressions; Setting up the i2 is relatively easy. The most challenging step was loading Garmin's mapping software, Map ...
Pros: Size, portability, ease of use, simple interface, COST Cons: Can not load entire USA into memory, requires computer interface to update map.
I got the Garmin i2 because I needed a small, simply, inexpensive GPS to help with some navigation chores on the weekends when we needed to find a local store/ restaurant/ etc. that we have not been to before. This by far was the most inexpensive one I ...
Pros: Ultra portable and USB powered Cons: The volume control on the side of the unit is a bit too sensitive
I bought this unit from my local Tesco Extra store because I work there so I get staff discount, and I'd also saved up 86 pounds worth of clubcard vouchers over the past 18 months, so I ended up paying just under 185 pounds for it even though it was ...
Pros: relatively inexpensive, clear black, white and gray display Cons: cannot trust it to take the most direct route
The I2 gets you to your destination, but it might guide you to a roundabout route. I thought it was my setting (shortest route versus quickest route), but I tried both and it still told me to take a route that was not optimal. For example, going from ...
Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, works great and it's simple. Cons: Smaller letters in smaller screen could be a problem for aging eyes.
I guess I'm a little different than most users of High-Tech equipment... I like it simple. The i2 delivers on simple. Now for a confession... I actually worked backwards to get to the simplicity that I love. I am in a business that requires ...
Pros: Inexpensive and comes with necessary accessories. Cons: Very poor customer support
I purchased 2 ICN530 units for Christmas gifts only to find that the maps on the units were at least 3 years old. I contacted Navman which informed me that I would have to purchase new maps $99.95 for each unit when they were available. Having to spend at least $200.00 for something that should come with the unit or at least a download does not sound like Customer service to me.
Working now, no or little signal close to home by cob10 ,Dec 01 '05
Pros: Inexpensive, voice command sound if pretty loud Cons: Small and somewhat difficult to input addresses, some signal dead spots
I can't get more than one bar on signal meter, consequently, the receiver doesn't work... Customer support is only avail, central time, to 5pm. I'm on the west coast and when I get home customer service is closed. Guess I'll have to to call in the morning before work.. Nothing in FAQ's or directions helps me fix the problem.
I sent a email asking for help today.. I'll make an update when I get a response, otherwise I am returning the product. Too bad, it's kinda cute. For $210 it looked like a good deal.
A little over a week now no response from Garmin. However, we have found that our home is a dead spot and the Garmin/signal seems to work fine 1/4 mile from the house. The device navigation seems to work okay, fairly accurate. The drawbacks for us is that it's a little difficult to load addresses and the screen is a little small,, but what can you expect for the price.
Not VERY GOOD for Northern Ireland by highelf965 ,Oct 08 '06
Pros: Works well in ENGLAND,WALES,SCOTLAND,IRELAND Cons: DOES NOT WORK IN NORTHERN IRELAND
I bought my ICN 530 after being told it had a full European and UK/Ireland mapping. It works fantastic in England,Wales and Scotland BUT NOT IN NORTHERN IRELAND. It keeps telling me to go to nearest road. I drive to work and I cross one major road according to the device.
Either Northern Ireland is not part of UK, Ireland or Europe this device is as much use as a chocolate fire guard. Could NAVMAN please put on the box "USELESS in Northern Ireland" preferably in bright red. I went out and bought a Garmin Street pilot, that seems to know where Northern Ireland is.
I am pleased with the Garmin I2 by chris46 ,Jan 24 '06
Pros: easy to use , voice command is clear , price is great , Cons: somethings are not listed . I think all other GPS systems have this problem too
A wise word to you who want to buy this GPS , this may save you some trouble . Make sure you have a DVD drive(not CD-ROM) or your software will not load on your computer . A Garmin rep. told me that most all GPS systems now use DVD software . I bought a DVD/CD drive after I thought the software was bad , thanks to the Garmin rep. that showed me the light...My I2 now works like it should . I did not pay attention , maybe this will help some of you who want a GPS . I believe this I2 does just as good as a $1000.00 unit .
Pros: Cost size and ease of use Cons: Stock signal strength could be better.
I am a salesman and travel all over the Southeast. This is my second GPS as I get lost pretty easily. This unit is very intuitive and easy to use. I was able to load the Southeast onto the provided memory and am happy with its capacity. I did have some reception issues while in waas mode and purchased a garmin amplified antenna on ebay for under twenty dollars and now get 5 bars of signal 99% of the time. If you are frugal and want an easy to use unit that gets you where you need to go without cluttering up you car this is for you. I will be buying one for my wife as they are under $200 on WalMarts web page.
Pros: Stylish, Price, Ease to carry, Ease of use and great GPS allround Cons: Nil
I have never owned a GPS unit before but now I am hooked. This product is so easy to use for a person who usually creates mayhem with electronic devices. The Navman iCN 530 even picks up satelite signal in my home which is great for preparing prior to going on a car trip. The multi location trip setting is also fantastic. Let me tell you I would not look past this little beauty for price, ease of use, look, great navigation with male or female voice and great screen viewing even on bright sunny days.
Thanks Navman
A small, brilliant solution for GPS by gselcuk ,Dec 08 '05
Pros: Portable- have the convenience of navigation in any car you are traveling.
Accurate,Affordable. Cons: Haven't seen any.
Garmin Street Pilot i2 is the cheapest alternative to GPS. But it's only cheap at the price. It has all the functionality of a more expensive unit. The strong manufacturer name behind the product, helped me decide purchasing the item.It doesn't have the fancy features (color, touch screen, preloaded maps) but it does what it supposed to do.
Although the screen is very small, it is so clear and visible. The presentation of the map is so logical, so is the entry with the scroll wheel and the button. The software is easy to understand that you don't need to read a manual to start using the unit.
The voice commands are clear, the adjustment of the volume is a good feature.
The information is very accurate and updated.
The reception is good, sometimes weak in indoors, but who needs navigation indoors?
Uploading maps was really easy. I have uploaded about 5 states and still have more than half of the memory empty.
Purchased at walmart.com for little less than 200 dollars.
It's definitely worth a try if you are looking into getting in the world of "Never getting lost".
