Diamond in the Rough

Pros: *on-board combo drive*, 3 usb & 1 firewire, lightweight, stylish
Cons: low battery life (main batt.), hard to find, limited accessories, single ram slot
After searching high and low for a lightweight replacement to a Dell Inspiron 4000, I managed to find one of these NEC Versa TXi's - it ended up being one of the best technology purchases I've ever made ...

NEC Versa TXi - avoid at all costs!

Pros: Light weight, fair specifications
Cons: Extremely expensive, poor battery life, terrible tech support, poor build quality
This notebook computer has been a sick joke since day one. The DVD/CD-RW combo drive was faulty on receipt; it was impossible to change the region code, so DVDs wouldn't play. None of NEC's tech support reps whom I spoke to at any level had any idea...
