Softer sidewalls but no problem
by pastafazool ,Jul 23 '06
Pros: cheaper, more sun resistant Cons: Not as stiff sidewall
I've had 4 tires on my 21ft boat trailer for 2 years now with yearly trips to the keys (8 hours)at 70 mph, and monthly trips to the coast (1 hour). Not a lot of miles on the tires but a lot of heat. They're holding 5000 lbs of boat and equipment
I immediately noticed much more bounce. The tires sidewalls are NOT as stiff as the Tow Masters they replaced due to dry rot,Florida sun. I've had no problems with them and they seem to hold up better to the sun weathering than the others.
So, sidewalls not as stiff, but no other problems.

Nankang Tire Tread Separation
by borderlinepro ,Jun 03 '05
Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Poorly manufactured and dangerous to have on the trailer.
I bought four new Nankang tires for my Sunnybrook fifth wheel trailer in 2003. I kept the tire pressure at 65 psi as recommended and never drove over 60 mph. The tires are Load Range D, which is a range higher than that recommended by the trailer manufacturer. After two years and approximately 15,000 miles of use, three of the four tires had tread separation indicating major tire failure. This was discovered upon inspection and I had the four tires replaced before a blowout occurred, but the potential for disaster is obvious. I would never buy a Nankang tire again.

Nankang tires - Dangerous choice
by tscook ,Oct 31 '03
Pros: None Cons: Low quality
We purchased a 2002 New Vision 5th wheel, used, in May, 2003. It had 5 brand new 2003 Nankang tires, one as a spare. We just returned from a 2000 mile round trip from Ohio to Oklahoma yesterday. We had 3 of these brand new tires fail on this trip. The first, 70 miles from home, separated and lost a patch of tread. The second went flat north of Nashville on the return trip. It has suspicious threads coming from between the tread. Then 30 miles from home, the most dangerous failure. A blowout at 65 MPH. It not only blew, it caused body damage to the camper. Since each tire was in a different position/axle on the trailer and the air levels were checked and adjusted as needed throughout the trip, the quality of Nankang products appear to be at fault.

Early Failure of Nankang Trailer Tires On 5th wheel
by pritchem ,Jun 30 '05
Pros: I really don't have anything good to say about the tires. Cons: Seem to be prone to early failure.
I purchased a Sportsmen 5th Wheel in October of 2004. I have made two trips of about 200 miles each way, and I had a tire come to pieces on the way home on June 28. I have no idea of the cause, but assume I may have picked up a nail and it went flat. I kept the tires at the recommended pressure, and was very disappointed that a tire with less than 900 miles would have problems. I will not replace with Nankang brand tires.
