Pros: Easy to use, works well, good system for all skill levels, quick Cons: Expensive
I have always wondered why the manufacturers of dumbbells never came up with a way to make the changing of weights process a little bit easier. It seems as if they all use the process of using a clamp or some sort of bolt. Both work great at keeping ...
I have had the Nautilus 552 dumbbells for about a year now, so it's high time I publish a review of them. I got them for my basement so when I can't make it to the gym I can still work out at home. They are very easy to use - just turn the dial on each ...
Pros: Comfort, quiet, versatile, compact. Cons: Plastic base, awkward to return weights to base.
My wife and I decided to invest in building a home gym. She was mostly interested in cardio, but I wanted to do some strength training as well. We had a treadmill, got an elliptical cross trainer and a free home gym with it. The room was quite full when ...
Pros: Ease of use, good looks Cons: Kinda expensive
Great stuff. Just received it and absolutely excited by the ease of use. This is exactly what was missing from my home gym. This is easy easy easy and ease of use was the main purpose of this revolutionary mechanism. The only problem I have....I would ...
Pros: Smallest increments, almost instant weight adjustment, very little space required. Cons: Price, size of dumbbells.
I was reluctant due to the price but took the plunge anyway - and I don't regret it now despite the price. What sold me (over PowerBlocks, Hoist, etc.) was the superior ease of use and especially the smaller weight increments. The Selecttech dumbbells ...
The single best piece of exercise equipment for 50lbs and under. by lazur ,Dec 03 '05
Pros: The quickest and easiest adjustments of all dumbbells. Cons: Heavy enough for -most-, but not -all- users.
The number of exercises you can do , and the level of fitness and strength you can achieve with an adjustable set of dumbbells topping out at 50 lbs, is all that most people will ever need. The design of these dumbbells is very good: the handles are well-shaped for a solid, comfortable grip, and the system for changing weights is superior to all others in quickness and maintenance-free solidity. I much prefer the Bowflex over the 'Power Block', with its clunky enclosed design and fragile adjustment pins.(For those who need a heavier set, or plan on doing ballistic training, look into the 'Ironmaster' brand set. They are not nearly as 'fully automatic' as these, and are more expensive, but are 75lbs, with an optional extra 45 totalling 120, and 'tighten up' as solidly as a fixed-weight pro set.)
Innovative, Compact, & Effective by mandrakewell ,Feb 14 '05
Pros: High quality, compact, innovative, and effective. Cons: A little pricey, but if you shop around you can get a good deal.
I purchased this product almost a month ago and I have no regrets. I am a grad student living in student housing and I spent two months trying to find a strength-training program/equipment I could do in my own house. I have had fitness club memberships and I have access to our university's facilities, but I wanted to have something in my home that my wife and I could use together and without having to wait for equipment.
The greatest feature of this product is how effective it is for the space it requires. I am always on the lookout for innovative products that are easy and exciting to use. I am also impressed by the quality of the weights. There is not any "clunking" of weights because they are held stationary and they are covered with a plastic coating.
I bought the stand that goes with it and it was well worth the investment. I do not have to bend over to pick up the weights and put the extra strain on my back.
