Pros: automatic re-routing, high quality maps, voice prompting Cons: occasionally freezes, problems re-routing

Navman GPS 3420 saved me hours
by bsformer ,May 28 '06
Pros: If you follow directions it is easy to load, program and follow. Cons: The announced directions did not always agree with the map. The map was always correct.
I had a subcontract with FEMA to inspect houses damaged by the (2005) hurricanes. In some locations there were no street signs and few landmarks and often no one to ask directions. The 3420 took me to the correct location everytime, nearly 400 different locations in about 24 cities in LA and MS. It saved me hours. The color map and spoken directions helped me navigate down cluddered neighborhoods. The only problem I had was you have to look at the map and not depend totally on the spoken directions. Occasionally it would tell you to turn when you were on a road not requiring a turn. Sometime the system would recognize a bend in the road as a turn. At other times it would route correctly but not announce a turn. It didn't matter because it always got me to where I had to go. Easy to load and easy to input and easy to follow. I used it with my Ipaq 3955. Great combination.
