Pros: greatly helps free up mountains of paper clutter. Cons: At times it has a hard time 'grabbing' the paper to scan, can be frustrating.
Have owned the scanner for about two years now. Got tired of accumilating a mountain of paper documents and decided to give this a try to see if it really was as describled (first saw it on Oprah). I will say that I have been more than satisfied with ...

Pros: Coverts Receipts to transactions like magic (almost); Swiss Army Knife of scanners Cons: Software only works with supplied scanner
I hate paper and that is why I love NeatReceipts Professional 3.0. I actually bought version 1.0 and have upgraded with each release because it has become such a valuable addition to my work and home life. I actually purchased this originally to help ...

Excellent Product
by gbrenneman ,Mar 14 '08
Pros: Portable, powered by USB, accurate business card scanning, easy to use. Cons: Cluttered interface, limited OCR on documents.
I returned a Visioneer RoadWarrior for this product and am glad I did so. This does a great job on business cards and easily exports for Palm Desktop. This scanner also scans picture documents well. Setup was easy and relatively quick. Easy to keep documents straight in scanner. Includes a good cover and slips easily into my backpack. One disappointment is that there are not more OCR features on documents, but that is not the focus of the product. It does work well to scan to PDF and then convert to Word with ScanSoft PDF converter. All of the above works much better than the Visioneer RoadWarrior with far less software. Software includes database for sorting and cataloging of receipts and other papers. The interface is somewhat cluttered. Overall, this is a good product that performs as expected, without frustration and excessive software.

Neat item, does the job.
by subra010 ,Apr 23 '08
Pros: Small size. Eliminates the clutter of small slips of paper! Cons: Sort of slow..about half a minute per business card or small receipt.
This is a nice well built item and in the package I bought at CostCo, came with a nice hard case, a soft slip cover as well as a wallmount bracket. I keep it in the hard case with the cable and it fits easily in my bag.
The Software installs nicely out of the box and the user interface is intuitive.
I highly recommend that you spend half an hour going through the tutorials on the neatreceipts website...it helped me get set up properly.
Have been using it for a week - mainly to scan a pile of receipts for reimbursements which used to pile up. I am hoping to be more regular with this device in getting the paperwork done.
My only complaint is that the SW is rather slow..but understandable considering it runs an OCR pass on scanned business cards and receipts. Takes about 30 secs per receipt or business card...but if you keep it handy and scan in the paperwork periodically, this is quite a practical device.

Doesn't save time over direct data entry
by dsmeeth ,Jul 20 '08
Pros: Cool unit, portable, easy scanning Cons: Takes more time than simply entering receipts directly into Quicken
This product was billed as a time saver for getting data into Quicken. This did not pan out and I took the unit back. I agree with most of the comments made by other reviewers but my main reason for purchasing the unit was to save time and effort over entering receipts manually into Quicken. Process is slow because 1) about 50% of the scanned receipts need editing in the NeatReceipts application and 2) importing into Quicken is problematic at best, with dropped receipts, incorrect category recognition, and incorrect account placement. Overall a nice portable scanner but I couldn't justify the expense without saving some time over manual data entry directly into Quicken.
