Pros: Cheap, easy to use, Cons: just hope it works ????
Hi guys,
I recently started using the Neilmed Nasal rinse for the first time and I was just wondering how long it take to braek down the stuff that has caused so much irradtion and money in my life so far... Was recently prescribed this rinse by an ENT professor.... I have been on it a week, using it 2-3 times daily and all I see coming out my nose it what looks like water i.e. a clear "liquid" .. I have chronic nasal congestion... would appreciate some comments based on experience...
Made things worse for me.. Check with your doctor first by jpepperoni ,Jul 11 '09
Pros: - Apparantly it has helped many people - Drug-free solution Cons: - Danger of making things worse - messy
I haven't gotten a sinus infection in years, it was under sontrol for the most part.
But, I had some problems with my ears and recent throat infections due to allergic symptoms.
Used NeilMed Sinus Rinse for about 3 days and have now developed a painful sinus infection. Worst I've ever experienced.
I was very careful to keep all parts clean and follow the instructions properly.
Just wanted to give out a warning to check with your doctor before using Sinus Rinse.
I am giving the product 1-star only because of my experience with it.
Pros: Safe during pregnancy. Cons: The pot leaks a little bit when I shake it to dissolve the solution.
I had a massive sinus infection in my 28th week of pregnancy. Two rounds of antibiotics still didn't relieve all the symptoms. Doctors don't like you to take Sudafed, and the Benadryl they recommended just didn't help enough. Finally I got NeilMed's Sinus Rinse. I didn't look forward to doing it, but I was desperate. It was easier than I thought it would be, and I could immediately breath better.Despite the sinus infection being gone, I still suffer from a lot of congestion, especially at night. (a common side effect of pregnancy) By morning, I'm all "gunked" up. I started using the sinus rinse a few hours before bed, and I definitely notice the difference by the morning. Less gunk, more sleep!
Pros: Really works! Soothing and calming. Cons: A bit awkward and strange feeling at first...
I had seen this used on Oprah a while back and remember thinking, "The next time I have a sinus headache, I'm going to try that!" I got the chance about a month ago when I was visiting a friend. I had the "sniffles" and it got worse. She had the NeilMed and showed me how to use it [squirt bottle, not "teapot" version]. I was amazed at the results. It was definitely weird at first, but afterwards, my breathing was better and the mucus was gone!
Pros: Everything!!! I can breathe, smell and it has minimized my colds. Cons: Weird at first, not sexy but the benefit is real and great!
I have suffered from allergies for decades, when I was younger no allergy medicine ever helped. We were so desperate we even tried some trial medications that made it to the store shelves and they didn't work. Shots offered little help and when it got it's worst I would cave in and take Benadryl to take a nap for some relief. Nasal sprays are a joke as well and it really ruined my sleep and sense of smell. That was until one day my neighbor who is an ENT specialist gave me a Neil Med Sinus Rinse kit and said USE IT!!! Skeptical I tried it...the next day I woke up refreshed and could smell again!!! My wife said I didn't snore because I could breathe through my nose and since then I have used it 1-2 times daily. I can also really notice when I forget to use it for a couple days because I start to sneeze again. Also, when I feel a cold coming on I use it 2x daily and while I may feel the cold, I rarely sneeze, have a runny nose or congestion..this is a life saver for me!!!
Pros: Easy to use; effective; painless; no side effects. Cons: The idea seems silly until you try it.
It sounds so gross--I didn't want to try it. But after listening to a piece about sinus rinse on NPR, I gave it a shot.
What a difference! I have the deviated septum, and I'm allergic to just about everything, including the dander from my two cats. I constantly suffer in the spring and fall with headaches and sinus infections.
I started using this product in the shower every morning about three weeks ago. The difference is astounding. I can breathe and I can occasionally taste things. I'm snoring a lot less; my husband is grateful.
Rinsing out your nose may seem silly, but it is very effective!
