Pros: Easy to drink, nice nutty taste than is not bitter. Cons: For me, none.
Six of us went out to dinner last weekend. Three of us ordered Newcastle Brown Ale. The other two concurred on my assessment of this beer. This was the first time I gave this one a try. A bit of history from www.newcastle.com: Newcastle ...

Pros: Classic, nutty-malty English Brown Cons: Clear Glass Bottle
Any serious beer drinker will easily be able to rattle off the first few craft beers he became aquainted with. For domestic brews, hell likely mention Anchor, Sierra Nevada, and Samuel Adams. Imports apt to be named will include Bass, Guinness,...
Pros: Good, Nutty Flavor Cons: A Little Lighter than Other Brown Ales; High Price
Newcastle Brown Ale is the number one selling bottled beer in the U.K and a popular export beer to the U.S. and other countries. This beer was first brewed in 1927 and it continues to be a popular beer choice for those who want something dark, but not...
Pros: Readily available, easy-drinking Cons: Not very complex
There's a lot of hype surrounding Newcastle Brown Ale. Why, even back in the dark ages of my youth, when drinking beer was an exciting, illegal thrill, Nookie Broon held a certain mystique. Maybe it was because all the bikers and the bad bo ...
Pros: a decent drinking session beer Cons: seems dumbed down, not overly complex
One English ale that has enjoyed a bit of a trendy reputation is Newcastle Brown Ale. It is a beer readily available in most good beer markets. Like Bass Ale it enjoys a certain prestige among some beer drinkers. To me it is really ...
Pros: dominating beer rich in tradition Cons: none
First brewed in 1927, after several years of development, Newcastle Brown Ale would come to be known as the brown beer with the Blue Star on its label. Newcastle originated as a working class beer from England’s North East and has been winning awards...
Pros: It?s good drinkable beer. Cons: Unremarkable flavor.
Several days ago, I found myself at a few art receptions downtown in SoHo. As mentioned in my previous opinion (for Blue Moon Belgium Ale) [FN 1] I visited the Visual Arts Gallery, and it was also here that I picked up a bottle of...
Pros: Balance of sweet and bitter that goes down fast and clean Cons: Increases blotto behavior
Here I sit, the lone patron at the forkids bar. A sorry sight as I swig mouthfuls of Newcastle Brown Ale, one of England’s best selling bottled beers, trying to discern the reasons that I, my husband, and all of our friends like this beer. I twist it...
Pros: A good introduction to the wacky world of British brewing. Cons: Don't get carried away, it's too bland to be representative.
It's with mixed feelings that I see Newcastle Brown ale as one of Epinions.com's highest-rated beverages. It does prove that I'm not alone in my less than enthusiastic reaction to the large number of watery American lagers I've sampled over the years...
Pros: Absolutely delicious, sweet, soda-like taste; ultra-smooth finish; light body Cons: clear bottles tend to give it the slightest skunky smell and/or flavor (opt for cans)
I rsquo;ve been a huge fan of Newcastle Brown Ale for almost a decade now, but I rsquo;ve never sat down and truly pontificated as to why I like it so much until tonight. Drinking it at home isn rsquo;t quite as good as it is on tap, but even under such ...
Pros: A flavorful beer with mass appeal Cons: Not so good in bottles
Before 1927 the English city of Newcastle-On-Tyne was primarily known for its coal mining industries. Since 1927, the year the brewery opened , Newcastle has justly become famous as the source of one of the world's best beers ; Newcastle Brown Ale. ...
Pros: easy to drink, clean, balanced taste Cons: flat, lifeless, on the expensive side
This is a beer that is meant to be served cool -- not cold. It is brown in color and flat in taste. I liken its flavor to Samuel Adams’ Boston lager... with a more subdued, mellower taste. Newcastle Brown ale has almost no “head” and virtually...
A love affair with a beer? I know, just saying that sounds a little off the wall, but I'd be selling Newcastle short if I explained it any other way. From the very first time I tried Newcastle I was blown away. Newcastle Brown Ale is...
Pros: All round decent tipple Cons: not enough half bottles
Newcastle Brown is one of the few beers that has been placed on the ‘Protected Foods’ list, meaning it can only be brewed in Newcastle Upon Tyne by Scottish and Newcastle Breweries.
It is commonly known in Newcastle as a bottle of dog...
Pros: Delicious and light, goes well with many foods Cons: A bit too light for drinkers of stouts and porters
Whenever I go out and people ask me for a beer recommendation that is different from what they usually have but not a 'dark beer' I usually recommend one of two brown ales: Newcastle or Sam Smith's. Both are wonderful Brown Ales that are light and...
Pros: Very easy drinking - a good standby. Cons: Gets a bit 'samey' after a while.
I live very close to the brewery that makes Newcastle Brown Ale, and if you go to some of the associated pubs in the area, or to the brewery itself, you will have the chance to taste it FRESH. There is no comparrison between the fresh stuff and the...
Pros: A classic British import at an irresistible price Cons: None
British Beer Rules Again…
Every culture has their strengths and weaknesses, and it's a well-known fact that the British know their beers. Accepting this as an immutable truth, it’s no surprise that Newcastle is the number one selling...
Pros: Taste, body. Cons: Overindulgence can have detrimental effects on equilibrium.
I have to admit to being less than enamoured with the poor excuses for beer that infest cans or bottles bearing some big American brewery labels (names intentionally omitted to protect the guilty).
Pros: taste and quality, easy to drink Cons: the price
Okay, I've written a review on Newcastle Brown Ale in the past, but I deleted it and wanted to start from scratch because I feel that review didn't give Newcastle any justice. So here I am, trying to write again.
Pros: at its best under only certain conditions Cons: delicious and the most fun beer on the market
Although I shudder at my own pretenses, I don't think that the Newcastle that we get in this country is quite the same. For one thing, it's often sold in North America on tap, and it is always in the bottle in the UK and Ireland. The draft Newcastle is...
Pros: Smooth, balanced flavor, incredibly tasty. Cons: Can be affected by heavier beers and temperature.
Newcastle Brown Ale is a singularly unique beer. I remember my first attempt at the beer quite well. A group of chums and I were watching some anime on DVD, and someone passed me one of the distinctive clear bottles, with instructions to give it a try....
Pros: Distinctive and unusual taste, good for heavy drinking if you like it Cons: Slightly sweet, not hoppy enough for my taste
I and many others used to drink Newcastle Brown Ale at the UMIST student union in Manchester during their regular Saturday night concerts. It was handy to drink because it comes in a pint bottle with a good heft to it, and it slipped down quite easily....
Pros: A true drink of the North East. If you have any plans to come to Enlgand for your holidays, drink this instead of the other beers or lagers. Cons: Not enough of it at times
Well, what can I say! I am from the North East of England, where they brew NBA and have seen it being brewed at the Blue star breweries.
You do not need to know the facts on when it was first made, who by, etc. You need to know the true...
Pros: Great taste, easy to drink Cons: Only truly good on tap, beware of the hangover
Newcastle is a thin-bodied dark ale that manages not to be as horribly bitter as darker beers can be. It has a sweet chocolate-nutty flavor and is very easy to drink. However, due to travel, the clear bottle, or just age, bottled Newcastle can often...
Being that my teenage years and my twenties for that matter are long gone at this point in my life, when I partake of alcoholic beverages I do so for the taste and experience alone. That being said, if I don’t appreciate the taste of a malt beverage...
Pros: flavorful, better than Killians Cons: import, a little heavy for me to eat a meal with
This is not your little brother's beer. If you are a big Bud-from-the-keg fan, this beer is not for you. Newcastle is a darker more flavorful beer. It is pretty similar to George Killian's Red but has a more robust flavor and less aftertaste. It is a...
If I was stranded on a desert island, and could have an unlimited supply of only one beer, Newcastle Brown Ale would be the one. What can I say, I love the stuff. It is one of those ales with a unique taste. There is no other brew in the world that...
Pros: Sweet, full and unique Cons: distinctive, might not appeal to all
Everyone who's tasted it has an opinion about Newcastle. Some, like myself, find it ideal but others find its sweet caramel undertone too cloying. It's not a beer you'd pound through a 6 pack while watching sports, it's more of a conversational beer....
That's what my very first bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale seemed to whisper to me as it sat there on the table, nondescript. So innocent I was to believe that drinking a bottle of beer could be anything less than an emotional...
Pros: light, sweet, not too strong Cons: well... it's beer
I am not going to pretend to know a lot about beer. In fact, just about the only thing I know about beer, is that for the most part, I hate it. Most beer that I have tasted is just plain awful, either too watery or too strong. I prefer liquor drinks,...
Pros: smooth taste, pleasant aroma and aftertaste Cons: a slight amount of bitterness towards the finish
Though I'm not a beer expert, It's a fair statement to say that I've had a few beers in my day. My waist no doubt supports this premise as its expanded to a rather robust 34. If I get to 36 then I may have to reevaluate the utility of this...
Pros: A great brown ale, for a good price Cons: Tap is worse than bottle.
Newcastle Brown Ale is my favorite dark beer. While not entirely dark and bitter like a Beck's or heavy like a Guinness, Newcastle provides a great balance for those who are sick of the mass produced Millers and Buds, but appreciate the taste of an full...
I do not drink dark beers very often because they are usually too strong for everyday drinking. Newcastle Brown Ale has a nice brown color and interesting, a little bit sweet aroma, sorry, but many mass produced beers do not have any aroma at all. The...
Newcastle has a body, taste, and scent that puts all other beers on a different level. With a deep sugary taste, this jolly English ale is by far the best beer on the market today. If you are going to have a nice evening sitting around the fireplace...
Pros: Smooth, not overly carbonated, goes down easy Cons: Goes down quicker than I'd like
When the event calls for smooth refreshment without a lot of carbonation to get in the way, nothing soothes the thirst better than Newcastle Brown Ale. Whether Ive been working out in the hot Texas sun or just sitting down to a great home-cooked ...
Pros: A great taste for a reasonable price. Cons: It only comes in a six pack!
Newcastle Brown Ale is a honey beer, not in the sweet sense but in the richness of both its color and taste. For an ale, which ales are not normally thought to be light, Newcastle affords a light taste that doesn't weigh your mouth down like a Michelob...
Pros: Sweet flavor, bold taste, presence of body, and no bitter aftertaste Cons: higher price for higher quality
"Got Newcastle?" That is the second question that comes to mind when I walk into an unfamiliar bar. Since I am a 21 year-old male, you can probably figure out what the first question was. Why have I proclaimed this divine beverage the...
This is a wonderful, full-flavored brown ale. If you have only had American made brown ales (while some are very good) you have only been drinking imitations of this excellent beer from England. Unlike some of the imitators, this beer is full-tasting,...
Pros: All-around superiority in a wide range of settings Cons: Premium price for premium product
Newcastle Brown Ale. For those who are familiar with it, the name speaks for itself. Of the hundreds of different beers I have consumed from all over the world, from large breweries to small, Newcastle reigns supreme as my favorite all-around beer for...
Pros: Crisp, refreshing and just darn good Cons: Just a bit Expensive
This is a wonderful beer. I first tried it on vacation in New Zealand. Disappointed I could not find any singles of Kiwi beers, so following a recommendation from a cousin I picked up two of these. I am quite glad that I did. After a steady diet of...
I like New Castle Brown Ale because it has a taste I find appealing. It doesn't turn your stomach, even though it is an ale. There is nothing I like more than to sit down with a bag of Race Car Fritos and sip on my New Castle. In my experiences with...
Pros: Good tasting and thick. Cons: Overrated and overpriced
For the year of 2001, Newcastle Brown Ale wins the most popular award. Don't get me wrong, it's a good beer, but it is not the best beer ever, not even close.
If you appreciate dark beers you will like Newcastle's taste, but you will hate the...
Pros: the smooth brown taste Cons: somewhat expensive, depending where you go
so, over the last weekend, i was at this cheap-crappy bar around the corner from my apartment. i looked for a decent beer and the bartender, who looked like g.w. bailey(of police academy fame), handed me a "new castle brown ale".. wow, i...
Pros: Choc full of grog and smooth down your throat. Cons: Not cheap.
Picture the scene. An endless fridge filled to the top with different beers from different countries. All icy cold. All calling your name. Where you gonna go first?
Newcastle Brown, baby. Why? Well, let's see if I can stretch the word...
Pros: The Taste Cons: You Can't always find it in Restaurants
For me, it does not get much better than a nice cold pint of
Newcastle. Especially if I can find it on draft. It is my favorite
brown ale, and I'll tell you why. Necastle has this wonderful almost
honeyish to brownsugar yet a...
This is the "scotch" of brown ales. Newcastle Brown Ale has been one of my favorites since the late 70's. I loved it while I was over seas (heck, even locally brewed Budweiser taste good over there) and all my associates and I love it over...
Pros: Beautifully Balanced, Creamy and Full-bodied. Cons: Everyone Else Needs a Gasmask
When I'm not in the mood to experiment, and I just want to pick up a sixer of brew that I know I'll enjoy, I go for the Newcastle. Smooth, creamy, and packing that full-in-the-mouth feeling, it's one of my favorite beers to simply crack open and savor....
Pros: Everybody should try it once Cons: Expensive
We'll start with the observation that the British refer to Newcastle Brown Ale as "the dog". As in "walking the dog?", Damn .. I don't know, but it would fit U.S. slang nicely .... "pickin' me up some dog"; "let's get...
Pros: Surprisingly great ale! Cons: Pricey and hard to find.
The first time I had a Newcastle, the person who bought it for me said, "Taste mine first, its kinda strong." I did, expecting the worst a beer can offer - that strong, dry, bitter taste. I was pleasantly surprised! I fell in love and it...
Pros: larger size standard bottles, bottles not cans, fairly easy to find Cons: more expensive than most American large brews, higher alcahol content can sneak up on you
I first tried Newcastle Brown Ale about 5 years ago while on a pub crawl. It was love at first taste. Rich full body and subtle nutty flavor that is dark without being motor oil thick like Stouts tend to be.
Pros: Drinkability Cons: Pasturized and filtered to death.
Newkie Brown. A working man’s beer?
Newcastle Brown is a beer popular with the English working classes in the midlands and north east. With a distinctive and relatively sweet flavor, it appeals to folks with a liking for the sweeter things in...
Pros: Overall excellent beer Cons: Dark color may put some people off
Newcastle has long been one of my favorite beers. It's nutty flavor is inviting and it is extremely smooth. So smooth, in fact, that many of my friends who've tried it were surprised that a brown ale could go down so easy. One interesting fact about...
Pros: SO GOOD! Complex, yet subtle taste that makes it oh so nice. Cons: A bit expensive. Probably not as appealing to beer afficianados.
Newcastle provides a great means for people that drink crappy Macro-brews to become more familiar with truly good (dare I say fine) beers. There are certainly better beers out there, most of which are much harder to find, but Newcastle is a solid choice...
I discovered the delicious taste of NewCastle while @ Blake's, a bar on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley. Me and my friend left a business meeting and decided to get dinner and some drinks. He recommended some...
I can honestly say that this was my first favorite beer. Its distinct flavor and pleasing aroma bring back good memories. Also, its carmel color and rich head only lend to the complexity of this fine brew.
Pros: smooth and flavorful with plenty of character Cons: more expensive compared to your average bud
The first time I tried Newcastle Brown Ale I was extremely hesitant since I favor lagers. I was pleasantly surprised - I expected a heavy ale with a bitter aftertaste, what I got was a smooth, flavorful ale that was quite refreshing. Newcastle Brown is...
Newcastle is an outstanding beer. It has a very smooth somewhat sweet taste. It is not bitter at all. It has a dark body but it is not as full or filling as most dark beers. Personally, I think it has the perfect body, not too light and not too full....
New Castle strikes the pallet with a thick, complex barrage of flavors. The bold flavor, rich aroma, and deep brown hue make New Castle a wonderful change of pace.
Not my idea of an every day beer, New Castle is just what the doctor ordered for a...
Pros: smooth, consistent, no bitterness; delicious at many serving temperatures; perfect companion for a pub evening Cons: filling beverage, light eaters may want to think twice before pairing this ale with meals
Many a night spent in a the pubs of Dublin and London cultivated my love for this beer. Guinness is too heavy, U.S. domestics are too light, but Newcastle - - simply perfect.
This easy drinking ale is a perfect choice when you want to savor...
I am a great fan of ales, and in particular, Guiness and all Irish varieties. I've had a lot of experience drinking/tasting this sort of alcohol. And this ale is perhaps the flattest I've ever tasted. Chilling it seems to detract from its flavor, as...
Newcastle Brown Ale is an absolutely majestic ale, and truly fit for royalty. Everything about this ale is exquisite. The color is a very deep, rich amber with just a hint of auburn. The aroma is mellow and pure and excites the taste buds just by its...
Coming from a small country across the water I am very used to this drink. It originates from the 'city' (population about 250,000) of Newcastle, in the North East of England and is a favourite amongst students here.
I recently visited my friend in Arizona and while we were chilling by the pool he gave me Newcastle Brown ale. I am a very big fan of thick full bodied ales and my favorite until then was Guiness. However when I took a drink of the Newcastle brown ale I...
Newcastle in a bottle is one of the four or five best beers you can find in a good-sized liquor store, but Newcastle from a tap is far finer. Richly satisfying without that ponderousness found in so many premium brews, its flavor is bright but subtle,...
I usually don't like dark beers, but I am fond of two brands; Guinness and Newcastle Brown Ale. Its brown color makes me think that the beer will taste so much more of hops than it does, and the barley is roasted to perfection. It's full flavor of, well,...
Pros: Great Taste
A very refreshing brew Cons: Can be a little expensive
Newcastle Brown Ale is enjoyed by both men and women. It is really just a great beer. If you love beer you will love Newcastle, but beware as it packs a bit of a punch. It is full bodied with a wonderful taste and a great color. It goes down smooth and...
I was introduced to Newcastle by pure luck! I ordered it because it stood out from the other 200 beers this bar offered. The large letters were easy to read from a distance. Anyway, I haven't looked at another beer since.
Pros: Good travelling Ale Cons: drunk by Pseudo's who can't take 8 pints of Guiness
I'm english so this is spelt using the OED not the poxy Webster's.
Like all british beers, Newkie Broon ale is revered by legend rather than by taste. because of its ability to travel well without losing flavour it has gained poularity at...
Pros: Deep rich taste Cons: Expensive and hard to find
I feel in love with Newcastle many years ago at an American pub. Newcastle has a deep rich taste without going too dark like a stout. When you drink it it feels like you are really drinking something with weight, not some America light beer. It also...
Pros: Classy. More flavor than most ales. Not as bitter as a stout. Cons: It's not Guinness.
Although I normally prefer a good stout, like Guinness or Murphy's, Newcastle is one of the best ale's around. It has more body and flavor than most of its counterparts - especially those here in the United States, but it still has quite a smooth...
Pros: Great flavor, and no aftertaste Cons: A little pricey
Newcastle is quite a good beer. If you are going to have a nice evening sitting around the fireplace and talking with close friends then a sixpack of this brown ale would be just about perfect. It has body and flavor, but it is not bitter or wheaty...
Pros: A classic: one for the pub Cons: It's very ordinary, and probably overpriced in the US
Newcastle Brown Ale, a.k.a. Nookie Brown, a.k.a "the Dog" - that's what you tell your Missus when you leave to take 'the dog' for a 'walk'. It's one of the worlds finer sessionable beers. You'd be mad to stand posing at a bar in LA with this...
Pros: A rich, smooth, flavor that lasts. Cons: If anything the price, but I think the price is justified for this beer.
Ahhh, Newcastle Beer. Those words bring to mind a peaceful setting: back porch, sunset, 60 degree weather, and a little music in the background. Definitely not your Miller or Bud which brings to mind, wild parties, loud bars, and spilt beer. Newcastle...
Pros: excellent and tasty Cons: a little harder to find sometimes and expensive
I must preface this by informing you that I am by no credentials an expert in the beer field (mmm, field of beer). Now let me tell you than in my amateur opinion, Newcastle is the best tasting beer I've ever experienced. From start to finish the joy of...
After my many travels around Europe and many beer tasting experiences, Newcastle stands out the most in my memory. It has a very smooth, rich taste and glides down the throat. I recommend this beer for any person who enjoys an ale of royalty, but at a...
Pros: Yummy, nutty, rich, flavorful and tasty! Cons: Too many beers=too many regrets!
I have been drinking New Castle for quite some time. It has remained one of my favorite beers since I was a little tike. It's not hard to find in Los Angeles however it is hard to find through out the United States. It's an English beer and by far the...
Newcastle Brown Ale is the perfect beer! It is great with a fine meal, casual dining, and snacking in front of the television. It is a full bodied beer with a wonderful aroma and taste. It goes with all foods, and can be enjoyed over an entire evening...
New Castle Brown Ale is some of the best beer to hit the market in the last 5 years. Its smooth taste combined with great texture allows it to be drunken at a very fast rate. I have drunken this beer on 4 ocasions and I must say that it goes down...
The Nookie is an excellent beer. A fresh Nookie is the best. In Big Sky MT a fresh Nookie taste so good after taking a few trips down the ski hill. The taste just blows me away. I has a smooth sweet taste to it. I wish that the price was a little...
Pros: Smooth and Delicious Brown Ale! Cons: ZERO!!
I was given a 12 pk of Newcastle Brown Ale this past Christmas as a gift, and I must say I wish I had it around all the time. I had heard good things about it but had no previous experience with it. When I eagerly broke open the box I saw "The One and...
Pros: Nice refreshing taste Cons: A bit too light for my taste
My friend introduced me to Newcastle a while ago. I am used to drinking darker beers. But Newcastle is great too. Especially at the bar that I go to that sells it by the pitcher for only $5. That's not bad considering it's a lot more expensive than...
Newcastle is a very good brown ale. Sweet and complex taste, but not as heavy as most ales from that part of the world. Excellent on draft, not quite as good in a bottle. A bit on the expensive side. People who appreciate a good flavorful beer will...
The words "One and Only" are perfect for this "Broon Ale". I have enjoyed this tasty brew ever since my first trip to the U.K. in 1995. I think it is the best. It goes down so smooth and the flavor is so rich on the tongue. I think...
There is a reason why their label is The One and Only. It has a thick rich taste. If you like a Half-and-Half, its great to mix with Guinness. They seperate in the glass and you can see which is which distinctly. It has a lovly reddish color. Not a...
I love good beer and Newcastle Brown Ale certainly qualifies as good beer. This stuff is so easy and smooth to drink that after a few of these babies you will be hard pressed to go back to drinking schwag beer like Miller Lite or MGD. Newcastle is on...
Coming from Newcastle, England (although I live in Glasgow nowadays) I feel I'm in a pretty good position to be reviewing it, as I can get it on tap most places I go.
To start with, you can tell it's a good beer just by looking at it. A rich,...
Pros: Smooth with no after taste, lightly hopped, reasoable price for the quality Cons: none
As a former hobby beer maker i found this ale to be the best i've ever tasted. It has a nice smooth flaver with no after taste that i can dicern. it seems to have a slight nut taste to it that really ads character. Now it is lightly hopped, and i'm not a...
Pros: Big bottle, wonderful taste Cons: you just can't stop drinking it!!!
Newky truly is a fine drink, originating "oop north" where they know a good beer when they taste one this is a wonderful experience from the moment you open the bottle.
First you get that rush where you wonder if you are going to spill it down...
Newcastle has been number one choice for around 5 years now. The brown sugar is unique and the taste is unlike any other beers. I first tried it from a friend at a party I also was a big fan of Newcastle United Club Team in the english premier league....
The first thing I would like to say is Thanks to the creator of New castle. New castle has to be one of the best, if not the best brew, I have had the pleasure of tasting. It goes down surprisingly smooth considering its thickness. It has a very...
If you are looking for that breakfast drink to replace Milk then look no further. Newcastle beer is an outstanding import beer from England. It goes down very smooth, and won't have you on one of those bitter beer face commercials like a lot of dark...
Pros: Dark, full-bodied, crisp Cons: Tends to go flat quickly, cannot find it in many bars.
When I first became a non-light beer drinker (after graduating from college), I began to experiment with beers other than those most college students drink. Since I was living in Boston, Newcastle Brown Ale was an easy choice, since it was readily...
Every time when I am looking into that big freezer the Ale just catches my eye. I had the beer for the first time about 1 year ago, and I do not think that anything can top it. Especially in the winter.
Pros: Tasty Ale Cons: after 4, it gives a little aftertaste
Couldn't be a better ale for just hangin out and having a couple. This is one of my favorites and is just satisfying altogether. Tastes very good with a cigarette or two!! No really though this import will anyday beat out anything from the states....
Pros: good tasting, mellow buzz Cons: hard to find on tap at local bar
NewCastle Brown Ale is the ONLY beer I've ever consumed that I actually LIKED the taste and aroma of the beer. After many years of imbibing on worthless and way too carbonated bitter beers throughout high school and part of college, a lightbulb went off...
Pros: great taste Cons: can be expensive some places
By far, this is my favorite beer, bar none! It is not a very heavy beer, but it has full flavor. This beer is an import from England, so it can be expensive depending on where you get it. I am from Chicago, IL and most of the bars here run about four...
bartender, ill have my usual, Newcastle by xnjhardcorex ,Sep 01 '04
Pros: strong, full flavor, not bitter at all Cons: not readily available everywhere
i have always favored the European made beers, especially english made beers. i first had a newcastle when i was at a irish pub and i saw they had it exclusively on tap so i said why the heck not and i instantly loved it. very very good beer and i reccomend you all try it sometime. its a very underrated beer if you ask me but its a very good beer and when you're at the liquor store next time and you are going for your budweiser or miller lite and you walk by a section with 6 packs of newcastle i suggest you give it a try and you'll definately experience something new.
The first beer I really liked by fossilsrock ,Oct 24 '04
Pros: It's not too light, not too heavy--Just right Cons: It does cost a little more than others (college student here)
Generally, I say I don't like beer. However, that was all changed by a camping trip. This was with a group of students from my college. One of the guys had a six pack of Newcastle brown and I tried, and I liked. It was perfect--not too watered down(as I've found out a lot are) and not too strong. So thanks to Newcastle for giving a non-beer-drinker something to quench her thirst.
