The One and Only

by bonaire , Jan 25 '00
Pros: smooth nutty flavor
Cons: none
The words "One and Only" are perfect for this "Broon Ale". I have enjoyed this tasty brew ever since my first trip to the U.K. in 1995. I think it is the best. It goes down so smooth and the flavor is so rich on the tongue. I think...

The One and Only for a reason!

by DonGiaconia , Jan 25 '00
Pros: Taste, Price, Availability
Cons: Color
There is a reason why their label is The One and Only. It has a thick rich taste. If you like a Half-and-Half, its great to mix with Guinness. They seperate in the glass and you can see which is which distinctly. It has a lovly reddish color. Not a...

Oh yeah, this stuff is da Bomb!

by thalious , Nov 30 '00
Pros: Tastes great, looks good!
Cons: Pricey
I love good beer and Newcastle Brown Ale certainly qualifies as good beer. This stuff is so easy and smooth to drink that after a few of these babies you will be hard pressed to go back to drinking schwag beer like Miller Lite or MGD. Newcastle is on...

A bottle o'broon doon the toon

by Thrud , Nov 24 '00
Pros: The world's best beer
Cons: None at all.
Coming from Newcastle, England (although I live in Glasgow nowadays) I feel I'm in a pretty good position to be reviewing it, as I can get it on tap most places I go.

To start with, you can tell it's a good beer just by looking at it. A rich,...

Best brown ale made

by darksoda , Feb 08 '01
Pros: Smooth with no after taste, lightly hopped, reasoable price for the quality
Cons: none
As a former hobby beer maker i found this ale to be the best i've ever tasted. It has a nice smooth flaver with no after taste that i can dicern. it seems to have a slight nut taste to it that really ads character. Now it is lightly hopped, and i'm not a...

The dogs dangly's

by Steve_C , Jan 19 '01
Pros: Big bottle, wonderful taste
Cons: you just can't stop drinking it!!!
Newky truly is a fine drink, originating "oop north" where they know a good beer when they taste one this is a wonderful experience from the moment you open the bottle.

First you get that rush where you wonder if you are going to spill it down...

What comes close?

by derekjmc , Apr 13 '00
Pros: TASTE
Cons: brown sugar diet
Newcastle has been number one choice for around 5 years now. The brown sugar is unique and the taste is unlike any other beers. I first tried it from a friend at a party I also was a big fan of Newcastle United Club Team in the english premier league....

God's gift to beer drinkers

by grover420 , Feb 08 '00
Pros: tastes great
Cons: none
The first thing I would like to say is Thanks to the creator of New castle. New castle has to be one of the best, if not the best brew, I have had the pleasure of tasting. It goes down surprisingly smooth considering its thickness. It has a very...

Umm Umm Good!

by chosen010 , Jan 26 '00
Pros: Just plain delicious
Cons: a little pricey.
If you are looking for that breakfast drink to replace Milk then look no further. Newcastle beer is an outstanding import beer from England. It goes down very smooth, and won't have you on one of those bitter beer face commercials like a lot of dark...

The Perfect Transition to Dark Beer

by wendfish , Jan 18 '01
Pros: Dark, full-bodied, crisp
Cons: Tends to go flat quickly, cannot find it in many bars.
When I first became a non-light beer drinker (after graduating from college), I began to experiment with beers other than those most college students drink. Since I was living in Boston, Newcastle Brown Ale was an easy choice, since it was readily...

Need to be Warmed Up

by K2Rider247 , Jan 08 '01
Pros: Just plain good
Cons: Nothing
Every time when I am looking into that big freezer the Ale just catches my eye. I had the beer for the first time about 1 year ago, and I do not think that anything can top it. Especially in the winter.

You just know you are in for s treat...

Mmm Mmm Mmm...

by looper22 , Jan 30 '01
Pros: Tasty Ale
Cons: after 4, it gives a little aftertaste
Couldn't be a better ale for just hangin out and having a couple. This is one of my favorites and is just satisfying altogether. Tastes very good with a cigarette or two!! No really though this import will anyday beat out anything from the states....

Damn Good Beer

by igloo19 , Dec 13 '00
Pros: good tasting, mellow buzz
Cons: hard to find on tap at local bar
NewCastle Brown Ale is the ONLY beer I've ever consumed that I actually LIKED the taste and aroma of the beer. After many years of imbibing on worthless and way too carbonated bitter beers throughout high school and part of college, a lightbulb went off...

What a high quality beer!

by josh9966 , Apr 16 '01
Pros: great taste
Cons: can be expensive some places
By far, this is my favorite beer, bar none! It is not a very heavy beer, but it has full flavor. This beer is an import from England, so it can be expensive depending on where you get it. I am from Chicago, IL and most of the bars here run about four...

bartender, ill have my usual, Newcastle
by xnjhardcorex ,Sep 01 '04
Pros: strong, full flavor, not bitter at all
Cons: not readily available everywhere
i have always favored the European made beers, especially english made beers. i first had a newcastle when i was at a irish pub and i saw they had it exclusively on tap so i said why the heck not and i instantly loved it. very very good beer and i reccomend you all try it sometime. its a very underrated beer if you ask me but its a very good beer and when you're at the liquor store next time and you are going for your budweiser or miller lite and you walk by a section with 6 packs of newcastle i suggest you give it a try and you'll definately experience something new.
