  • Set Your Feet Free

    Jan 9, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Allows you to run "barefoot", enhances natural motion of foot, hyperlightweight
Cons: Takes some major getting used to at the beginning

Summary: This is one of the most unique shoes I have ever experienced. It is definitely not for every person. It's only for those who want to experience in the benefits of running barefoot and to strengthen the natural movement of one's foot. You see, the ... read more

  • i like them but not really barefooting

    Oct 11, 2009 by
    Not yet rated.
    Pros: comfortable and looks awesome
Cons: not like barefoot running or like the vibram five fingers at all!

Summary: I like them, honestly, they are comfortable, I have worn them to do cross training exercises, but they claim to be barefoot running shoes which i dissagree, they're more like normal shoes.  I first saw the differences when reading about them in this ... read more

    Apr 26, 2009 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: light weight; flexiblility; comfort; looks; price
Cons: questionable durability of heel cup; not for runners with foot problems or heavier runners.

Summary: ...it's a running shoe; yes it's both. The 5.0 is the first generation of this unique running shoe and like cilantro in your salsa you either love it or hate it. Because they are the first generation, and Nike has made subsequent improvements to the ... read more

    Pros: Light weight, comfortable.
Cons: Not for long distances, uneven surfaces or wimpy feet

Summary: I bought into this barefoot running thing several years ago. Of course I didn't run at all back then ;) Anyway, as I started preparing for this years LA Marathon I decided it was time for me to get a running shoe and the Nike Free 5.0 fit my ideology of ... read more

  • It's only a fashion shoe.

    Jul 14, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Looks fine, feels comfortable and is acceptable for short distance on concrete.
Cons: Tear & wear (heel rips at plastic rim, both shoes!). Use only on concrete.

Summary: Ok shoes look fine, are very flexible and they feel comfortable. But it's no running shoe and i could only benefit from them for around 4 months then their lifespan was over. Heel ripped at plastic rim (Left shoe). The right one had a little hole at ... read more

    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Light Flexible Stylish Comfortable
Cons: Not enough lateral support Wear out incredibly fast

Summary: I received a pair of Nike Free 5.0 Running Shoes in late December of 2005. I was delighted to find them comfortable, amazingly light, and most of all extremely flexible beneath my feet. They are also a very stylish looking shoe, mine being navy blue ... read more

  • Nike Free shoes getting better

    Apr 11, 2006 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Very flexible, light, and fairly inexpensive ($85)
Cons: Very flexible, allows ankle stress -- be careful!; not durable, although new version has improvements

Summary: I have purchased several pairs of these shoes and I love them. They also have been a bit difficult on my ankles, but that's sort of the point of the shoe. However, they have not been very durable. (thus the buying several pairs of them!) Enough with ... read more

    Mar 31, 2006 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Extremely Comfortable, Light, Cool Colors
Cons: Don't last long enough for the price

Summary: I first bought this shoe in August of 2005 and it was the best shoe I ever owned...for about 3 months. They are light, airy, and very, very comfortable. I was constantly telling people they are the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I am on my ... read more

  • Bare Essential!

    Jan 22, 2006 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Comfortable and prevents injuries by cultivating leg strength.
    Cons: Takes time to adjust

Summary: The NIKE FREE simulates barefoot running, or at least comes half way to the actual experience; hence 5.0. The Nike Free 5.0 are comfortable, very in fact. However, the only reason to buy them is if you’re going to change the way you’re going ... read more

  • Nike Free Trainer Not Recommended

    Oct 20, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Lightweight, foot-supporting and fashionable.
Cons: Poor quality and prone to early failure; few consumer remedies.

Summary: I purchased the Nike Free Trainer (color scheme tan and black) about two months ago. These shoes are stylish, lightweight, and very form-fitting to one's feet. The shoe's arches are high, and it takes a couple days to be accustomed to the fit of these ... read more

  • DO NOT BUY NIKE!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sep 28, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Great if you want DISPOSABLE SHOES!!!
Cons: Shoddy design/workmanship, the shoes literrally fell apart after few uses. The worst customer service!!!!

Summary: I agree 100% with JAMJR45's earlier review. THE FIRST EVER DISPOSABLE PAIR OF SHOES!!! ONLY $5 PER WEAR! Bought a pair and after wearing it less then a dozen times (no running, just light walking) they ripped at both heels where silver ... read more

    Sep 12, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: light, flexy, and comfy
Cons: dude. you're going to pay $85 to be barefoot?

Summary: Pssssst! Don't like running? Neither do I! Now I know some runners might be like, "Dude. This is a running shoe" but you see I had a gift card to Foot Locker and the Nike Free 5.0 was the only shoe I liked under $120 (which would only be ... read more

  • Comfortable, if only they lasted longer.

    Aug 3, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Extremely comfortable, and great looking. You will get compliments and questions.
    Cons: Flimsy construction, breaks easily.

Summary: I really liked this shoe for the two months it lasted. Lest anybody think I abused the shoe, I should say that I'm more a weekend runner, if at all, as I tend to bike more than run. That said, I liked the shoes so much that I would wear them as my ... read more

  • Best shoes I ever owned

    Jun 14, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Your feet and leg muscles DO strengthen and your endurance will improve in running.
Cons: Your feet may be sore for the first few times you use it.

Summary: I was looking for a good running shoe, because my leg and feet muscles were always sore during and after running, and no amount of running would make the soreness go away. I admit I was skeptical about these shoes at first, but after reading about them ... read more

  • FREE 5.0: Nike's attempt to redefine running!

    Jun 10, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: lightweight, dedicated running shoe, excellent ventilation, purpose driven but elegant design, great fit
Cons: limited use, potential health risk if used wrong, relatively plain design

Summary: I just recently became aware of Nike's new running shoe that apparently was inspired by athletes who prefer bare foot running to strengthen muscles that otherwise are supported by typical shoes and may not get as much training as desired. So here goes my ... read more

  • Less is more!

    Feb 25, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Lightweight, flexible, extremely comfortable, breathable
    Cons: Need more color choices.

Summary: In the spirit of this shoe, I'm going to make this review short, sweet, and minimalistic. That's exactly how I feel about this shoe, actually. Someone mentioned that after running in the Nike Free shoes, other shoes now feel like "casts". I ... read more

Cons: The Sole worn out after 5 months of walking.
