sharp edge-to-edge
backgrounds smooth

calculating DOF can be confusing

Pros: Very nice optics, VR, AFS, better build than most others.
Cons: Expensive, VR not too useful for macro, can't match bokeh/sharpbess of Tamron 90.
Here we have what appears to be a made-in-heaven lens from Nikon combining thier excellent 105 2.8 with 9 blades for better bokeh (out of focus rendering) and (gulp!) VR!!! Well, let's cut to the chase. Is this lens worth the money? It depends. If ...

Nikon needs to re-think this one!

Pros: I honestly cannot think of any!!
Cons: Poor focus, Poor vibration reduction, A DOG!!
EXTREMELY disappointed!!! For nearly 800 bucks this lens is far from special. vibration reduction?? REALLY???!! Ken Rockwell was right on. Pass this one by!
