Pros: Compact, light and powerful Cons: Viewscreen washout and poor low-light shooting
I've had this camera now for about 6 months, after my Toshiba PDRM 70 finally gave up it's last gasp. (see previous review of this fine camera) I've used it under lots of conditions and use it almost daily at my job taking pix to document a process or a ...
Pros: Attractive camera with versatile and professional quality. Cons: A little bulky.
When I went shopping for a digital camera I had certain criteria in mind that I wanted it to meet. What I wanted and what everyone else wants isn't going to be the same but more than likely they will be similar. The camera that I was going to purchase ...
Pros: great clarity, low price, many options Cons: hard to use at first, Tripod adapter is too far left.
The Nikon Coolpix L1 is a great buy for someone who's looking to get some good pictures and doesn't know much about photography. This digital camera is automatic so it will do the hard stuff for you. Good Price! This is a great camera for ...
Pros: Takes excellent pictures in all kinds of light Cons: Sometimes the protective cover needs a nudge to open all the way.
We have had our Coolpix L1 for white a while and have been very happy with it - with one minor exception which I will outline below. We bought it to record important moments. Most of our photos include people and most photographers would call what we ...
A year ago I was needing a new digital camera for our annual trip to Mexico. Of course, being the holidays, most camera stores were very low on their stock of cameras. I ended up going to Circuit City where they had a huge selection of cameras in every ...
Pros: Price, size, weight. Extremely nice lens. Cons: Perhaps battery duration and lack of an optical visor; however, the LCD is great.
I bought the Nikon L1 as my first digital camera. I wanted a light and small camera, as I already owned a Nikon SLR film camera, but became tired of carrying heavy equipment around during my travels, and also the nuisance of having to find decent film ...
Pros: Great pictures outdoors, no functional problems Cons: Inside pictures are not up to par
I bought this camera for myself a year ago after seeing pictures of a family members Nikon. The picture have disappointed me somewhat when taken inside, they are not as clear as they should be. The pictures taken outside are wonderful and I have reproduced many of them into 8x10's which are still very clear. Functionally I have had no problems however my son's Nikon broke when the lens would not go in and out and Nikon stood by it's camera, without receipt they fixed the camera and returned it quickly. For this alone I will buy my next camera from Nikon.
EXCELLENT camera for beginners by josimlt ,Sep 13 '06
Pros: 2.5" screen, excellent macro,20X combined zoom, and finally great image quality
Cons: Slow performance , In low light conditions images tend to get blurred.
In this camera everything is kept as simple as possible.
It has excellent macro(close up)performance and the D-lightning helps you to brighten your image more(it is very useful). To transfer images from your camera to the PC, is also very easy(you only have to connect a single wire).
The only downside that i found in this camera is that when you take pictures in dark places, images get badly blurred but the strong flash helps alot. Some others may consider the Slow performance of the camera as a cons. So if you want a digital camera for sports and action FORGET this camera. For me it wasn't a big deal.
Be sure that you buy these things:
-a set of rechargable batteries because the camera eats up AA batteries very quickly(mine have 2500mah power--very good battery life)
-an SD memory card.(At least 256mb I suggest)
-and obviously a pocket or cover to keep the camera safe.
Anyway,If you want a small point and shoot digital camera which is very user-friendly, has great image quality and big bright LCD screen, check this one out.
Pros: Size, weight, price, interface, controls, optical zoom, macro mode, AA batteries, many shoot modes Cons: Very poor night shots, auto focus noise on movies, poor auto focus function, no troubleshooting
I bought this camera some months ago and I'm quite disappointed. I was expecting to have a small and efficient basic digital camera but what I got was a very limited product.
Night shot
It looks impossible to take good pictures at night, it's difficult to focus on poor light conditions and most of nightly pictures blur unless you have a tripod.
Video mode
the auto focus noise (brrr brrrrrrrrr) is recorded in all videos. You can't zoom movies while recording. The auto focus is good enough and the image quality is cool.
Other
It takes too long write to SD card. The panoramic mode doesn't have any preview on camera, the Nikon image software (included) is needed to view the assembled picture.
It has many preset modes and the macro function is very good. Also the 6X optical zoom is awesome.
The user manual doesn't have a troubleshooting section.
Pros: Light, once i used rechargable batteries, hadsome decent battery life, took reall good pics Cons: took blurry pics sometimes no apperent reason. Night shots sometimes blurry for far landscapes
This was a first digital camrea for me, what can i sy, good pics, light, went around everywhere with me. Once i added a 1Gb memory card, i could take a few hundered pics.

Pros: Presettings, decent optical zoom. Cons: Blurs badly at dusk.
I bought the coolpix L1 as my first digital camera. I originally had a film SLR. I wanted a digital camera to save on the price of film and I enjoy the quality results I get from this camera. It has a presetting feature called scene mode that is useful if you don't know what settings you should use for things such as fireworks, snow, portrait, etc... It also has a manual mode that lets you adjust white balance, continuous focus, and shutter speed.
All in all the quality of this camera is above average. Its not quite professional quality but the size of the camera makes it convenient to put in a purse or pocket. Personally, I have photoshoped and enlarged many of the photos I've taken with this camera and been very pleased with the results.
