Pros: Ease of Use, 5.1 Mega pixel, Video, Image Modes Cons: Shutter Lag, Flash Quality, Quality of Night Images
My dad bought me a Coolpix L3 for my birthday this year. I had been wanting a digital camera for a long time but never really wanted to pony up the $200+ that it would cost to get a halfway decent one. I was pretty excited to finally have one and I've ...
Pros: Great price for a 5 megapixels camera, good battery life, easy to navigate menu Cons: Poor picture quality, bad shutter lag, indoor pictures very poor, poor flash and so on ...
I was a big fan of Nikon, but this Nikon L3 really disappointed me. I still have a professional, traditional, film Nikon camera and the pictures are just great. I had then a Nikon Coolpix 2100 as a point-and-shoot digital camera and it was absolutely ...
Pros: small size, large LCD, price, cool features Cons: SLOW shutter lag in low light, no viewfinder, difficulty focusing in low lighting
I am a photographer and use Nikon cameras exclusively. My main camera is a Nikon D-SLR (the D70). On a recent business trip my husband lost my compact Coolpix 5200. I won't go into the details, but finances won't allow me to replace the 5200 with the ...
Pros: Picture quality; ease of use; Choice of settings; Good battery life; Price. Cons: Shutter lag; 5 pixels is outdated.
I purchased the Nikon Coolpix L3 as my first digital camera purchase. I previously owned a Nikon and had it for twenty years before allowing it to retire. I was given an HP 3 mega pixel camera from a relative that broke within 6 months so I made my first ...
After our 3 mega-pixel camera broke, we were in the market for a new digital camera. I did some online research and found the L3 for $110 and thought it was a great deal. I knew Nikon was a quality name and felt it was a safe purchase. We have had ...
Pros: compact body, great picture quality, easy to use Cons: lag between shots
I bought the Nikon CoolPix 4800 a couple of years ago, and absolutely adore it. I *love* the 8.3x zoom, and the picture quality is fantastic. The only drawback is that it's too large to take everywhere. So when I had a few extra dollars, and was ...
Pros: Very easy to use. Great features. Cons: None found yet.
I bought the Coolpix L3 at Circuit City for $179 and am so happy with it! The batteries last for a very long time even when using the flash heavily! I must disagree with anything that anyone has said about the shutter lag on any setting (other than ...
Pros: Great outdoor, zoom, megapixel, large screen, small. Good video quality Cons: Terrible indoor shots even with flash, do not drop unless you wanna buy another camera.
I do wedding photography and I use a Nikon D100. Nikon has great products but I was slightly disappointed with this camera. I was just wanting a point and shoot digital for family gatherings. The video was a nice feature, and all the outdoor shots were ...
Pros: Small. Good picture quality if you know how to set it. Cons: Lag time taking pics. Menu options can be confusing.
I personally can't say enough good things about this camera. For what it is, it does the job for me which is taking decent resolution pictures on the fly. I use it at work and hunting. It is very durable as evidenced by me running over it with my utility vehicle by accident. Tough little bugger!! By 2008 terms, it is outdated having only a 5 Megapixel sensor but when you factor how big the 5MP image is, it it still pretty good. The menu is a little hard to work on the fly, and there is a significant delay depending upon settings from pressing the button to take pictures.
Pros: Easy to use - good pics - indoor and out. Videos are great! Cons: Shutter lag is occasionally an issue.
Shutter lag is a bit of an issue but overall the quality of pics is super and I love the mini-video feature! Batteries (I buy lithium) are long-lasting. I have no trouble with indoor or outdoor pics. Software for transfer to computer WORKS and is easy to use! I'm very happy with it.
Good product with some problems by peggyarcher ,Oct 14 '06
Pros: Clear pictures, excellent lens, light, good user interface Cons: Shutter lag means missing candid photos.
I'll agree that the number one thing I don't like about this camera is the shutter lag - it can take several seconds to focus (more in low light), and that means some missed photo ops if you're dealing with children, animals or motion.
The quality of the images is very good, the software is easy to use, the batteries last a relatively long time and it's small.
What I really like about the camera is the excellent image quality - it's far better than one would expect in an inexpensive camera and the photos print very well.
The video feature is nice, too - it takes fair quality video clips (although I'd still recommend a higher quality vid cam for movies that are important), and is all around a decent camera.
For all that, I won't buy another one when this one wears out - that shutter lag has really cost me some photos - I'll spend a bit more and get the next model up.
I am not happy with this product's Shutter Lag. By the time I hit the button to the time it actually snaps the picture, I young son is already out of the frame. Once it takes, the pictures are excellent, unfortunately I end up with a great picture of my floor.
Pros: Small size, Nikon optics, very good photos. Cons: Image stabilization not included.
I bought this Nikon for a gift for my nephew in Europe. We spent Eastertime with him and had ample opportunity to evaluate the camera. The camera has a 5mp capacity and a 3x optical zoom. Basically all the average photographer needs. The camera takes very good digital photos although the flash is a little on the weak side (not uncommon in this class). The camera uses AA batteries which is a real plus since it is still a very small camera. Overall an excellent camera. So much so, I am buying my sister one in a week or so for her as well.
All I can say is that my wife and I were happy when this was accidentally dropped in the river. While it may seem like a great deal, don't be fooled. It takes AA batteries and they don't last as long as other cameras with L-Ion batteries. Also, the time from when you push the button until the picture is taken can sometimes take a full second or more. I can't tell you how many pictures were lost because of this.
This camera also takes a while to download the pictures.
