Pros: … Cons: …
When I first got a Nikon D50, there were a few things I wanted to get. One thing I new I needed was a flash. This becomes evident mostly when taking indoor pictures. My cat would often get those green eyes commonly associated with pets. Pictures of ...

Nikon SB 600 a winner!
by gregepin04 ,Oct 14 '05
Pros: Overall a very nice flash for professional results. Cons: A bit pricey ...about $230
As a photographer, I am always trying out different photographic items. I regularly use the Nikon D70 and really appreciate the results from the SB 600 flash. The SB 800 is a bit more powerful, but the tradeoffs did not seem worth the price(about $150 more). The SB 600 is quite powerful and has a quicker recycle time along with more flashes per battery set. It can also be used as an independent remote flash with the D70 (or with another SB 800 unit). Great for backlighting at a moment's notice.
The flash itself is very sturdy with a METAL hotshoe. That will please anyone who has had a cheap plastic hotshoe bracket crack after being bumped. The unit has a diffusion screen built-in for closeups. Automatic flashhead zoom links directly to the camera. Cool.
Fairly easy to understand illuminated control panel on back(actually a bit clearer than the more expensive SB 800).Power saver option allows unit to partially shut down after a short period of non-use. It powers back instantly when the camera's shutter button is lightly touched.
