Pros: Reasonable prices, good seafood, free parking Cons: Ugly decor, on a pier - off the beaten path
The No Name is one of those Boston legends that has been around and on restaurant lists forever. The restaurant itself is almost 100 years old. I ate at the No Name in March 2007. AMBIANCE To put it mildly, there is very little ambiance at the No ...
No-Name Seafood is one of the oldest and most well know seafood resaurants in the Greater Boston Area. Probably the best seafood restaurant in the area No-name is surprisingly located in one of the most obscure locations along a pier near Boston Harbor....
Pros: great food, great price Cons: dark, dingy dining room, payment cash only
The No Name really is a great restaurant. If you can find it--nestled on a commercial fishing pier on the harbor there is only a faint sign on the door and a neon "open" sign in the window. It's very dark and it didn't look all that clean. If you...
We had heard of this restaurant through friends of my husbands who had raved about it. On a visit to Boston, we decided to go. Were we thrilled! It is a hole in the wall in terms of visibility. The wait was not long, as the turnover was fast. We...
Pros: Casual, no Frills Cons: Cash Only, Very basic
My first experiences with No Name's were in my college days in Boston. Back then it was a favorite among the university crowd. Then, as now, it had a no-frills atmosphere. We weren't looking for ambience, and No Name's fit the bill. Dining at...
I have been going to the No Name restaraunt since with my Dad since I was a little kid. My dad has always been very (how should I put it) value minded. Now that I'm an adult I often take my friends there and have been known to take a business...
Pros: good service, good food, good price Cons: none
While visiting friends at MIT, my husband and I, along with his family decided to try to find the No Name. This restaurant had been recommended to me by a number of strangers in the airport in Phoenix when they heard I was going to Boston so I thought we...
Pros: great fresh food Cons: limited parking nearby
I have been going to the No Name since I was a kid. My father, mother, brother and I would hop in the car and drive into Boston for a treat. The fish could not be any fresher since it is usually serving fish caught earlier that day. Now that I am...
Pros: Excellent Price! Excellent Fish! Cons: No frills
The No Name is a great restaurant if you do not find not having cloth napkins, refillable drinks (or even regular drinks) and none of the fancy customer service of the seafood places. If you just want good seafood, then you must go to the No Name. It is...
Ugh, tourist trap in nature by sydlittle ,Oct 29 '03
Pros: If you like fried food, then it's okay Cons: Not convenient to get to
With all the really great places for seafood in Boston, I do not understand how people can recommend this place. It's got no ambiance, it is not cheap, and the menu is primarily fried items.
I guess it's the history or tourist angle that keeps this place alive.
If you want the No Name experience, by all means go, but remember to bring cash as they do not accept credit cards.
I would always see families and kids eating here. If you have kids and they like fish, it makes sense but if your kids hate fish, going here is a recipe for headache.
No Name is probably the only restaurant in Boston that I have truly disliked. The food has NO taste and, if you ask me, is quite overpriced for fried fish and frenchfries. What's disappointing is that it has the potential to be a neat little place but really the food, in the end, fails to impress.
Pros: Great value. Cons: Except that, it's not really that great.
Boston's hidden seafood restaurant! Not a lot of people know about this restaurant.
You've got this craving for seafood but you are broke. This restaurant is very good at the moment. Their seafood is pretty good, but it is not expensive at all. So if you want some seafood, but don't want to pay too much, this restaurant is the best!
