Nob Hill Hotel

I was in town for a conference and stayed at the Nob Hill Hotel because the price was good. I called the hotel, and the front desk gave me a rate 15% better than that listed on their website. I ended up staying for only $85 per night!!! In addition because three of the nights I stayed were weekdays, the lady at the front desk bumped me up to a nicer room when she saw me wheel in my large suitcase. (be sure to walk up the hill to the beautiful gigantic courtyard) Overall, they were very good, and the room was great. I would absolutley stay here again.

Cons: fraudulent credit card charges

The Nob Hill Hotel overcharged our credit card by $400 dollars. We stayed one night in The Nob Hill Hotel and our credit card charge totaled $532. In a phone conversation, the hotel manager, Angelos Kolobotos, claims that hotel cleaning staff witnessed evidence of smoking in our room after we had left. Neither I nor my wife smoke.

When I called the hotel, Mr. Kolobotos told us to call back two days later and speak to one of his employees about this issue.

We are in the process of reporting these fraudulent charges to our credit card company, and we hope not to have to take matters any further.

Pros: Nothing in this experience would allow me to recommend this hotel to anyone!
Cons: This is a scam on out of town clients.

Bait & Switch scam! We had on line confirmation and when we arrived they tried to move us to a much less superior hotel five blocks away and charge us the same amount (which was $10 more than our confirmation). Others had the same experience - see www.tripadvisor.com for more. They were over booked and many others had to move as well. The manager was very rude and was going to charge us for a room (that he didn't have for us) so we called the police. They were outstanding and we had to report our credit card as lost to prevent being charged. The file is being followed up by the San Francisco Fraud Section. While we were there at 1:00 a.m. a couple from Kansas checked into a room where other guests were already asleep! I've never seen such poor customer service in 40 years of travel! The Fitzgerald Hotel is owned by the same people but is much more run down.
