Pros: Rugged, good battery life, above average reception, easy to use name/number storage, accending volume ringer. Cons: No calculator. That is the only thing I miss from more expensive phones I've used.
Got this Nokia 5185i used phone a year ago when I lost my LG-510 in a snowbank somewhere. Before the LG-510 I had one of the Startac phones, not sure of the exact model any more. Two things I didn't like about the LG-510: poor fringe reception (just ...

Pros: A pretty good phone with lots of name brand and after market accessories Cons: Phone housing and battery mating surfaces allow excessive movement and wear until phone cuts off.
We own two 5185i Nokia phones that are about two months outside of a 12 month warranty. My three sisters and my mother all got 5185i phones about a week or so later from the same service provider. In all we have eight 5185i phones. Within the last month...

I bought my Nokia 5185i phone at a local Verizon store in Dallas. I was first lured by their great service plans and then they offered me a few different phones. The Nokia 5185i is their most popular phone, and I'm not surprised. I've seen...
Pros: Reliable, Easy to use, long battery life Cons: Bulky (Particularly with a High-Capacity Battery)

We recently purchased two Nokia 5185i phones with the Verizon Family share plan. On our way home from the Verizon store, we noticed that when we went thru a canyon that one phone returned to the digital mode, and one would not pick the signal back up...
Pros: Cheap, plenty of features, usually cheap with a "package deal" from service provider Cons: Pester folks from the comfort of your car!
My goodness, how I hate those cellular phones. The last one I owned "accidentally" flew out of my car window due to a strong gust of wind (or, that's my story, anyway). I assume it was broken as I was driving along at around 80-miles-per hour at the time...
Pros: Varied ring selections, interchangeable face plates. Cons: Flimsy pull up antenna. Occasional echoing on some calls.
Recently my husband and I had a decision to make, renew our cell phone plan or let it go. Since signing up one year ago with a screaming good deal on airtime, we were mostly pleased with our savings, however our original phones (Kyocera dual modes) had...
Pros: Size, battery life, customizing features, easy text entry. Cons: not compatible with mainstream nokia accessories
I recently acquired a pair of Nokia 5185i phones through a promotion with my wireless provider (Verizon). I had upgraded from a pair of Qualcomm 820's which I had found worked well for me. The reasoning for the upgrade was to acquire SMS service.
I...

This is my first Cellular phone, and it came as a suprise. I was going to get a free Motorola phone through Alltel, but got this little gem instaed. I was NOT disappointed!

Pros: Very good size, easy to follow programming, not fancy. Cons: Has to lock keys to avoid dialing if you put it in your purse.
I had my first Nokia 3 years ago - and this make is still my favorite little thing. Not too big - not too small. Gives you the option of having an air-time package or just use a card. Very easy to program everything in there to your personal liking -...
Pros: Nokia menu/functions. Cons: Flimsy. Below average quality.
In the past I have been a loyal Nokia customer. I started with the 232 then the 252 then 6125 and LOVED them all. I have always had multiple accounts and multiple phones. I honestly can not believe this phone was made by Nokia. The very first week I...
Pros: Size, faceplates, accessories, games, rings, versatility... etc. Cons: Faceplates scratch easily :( Volume doesn't go high enough?
I got this phone about 4 months ago. I was so jazzed, these things rock! They're so cute. Not only that, but the kind I got from the service (Verizon) was the smaller, lighter one. It has a much smaller silhouette. *Coolness*
Actually, the first one...
Pros: Good memory function, snake, good call clarity, price Cons: Nokia's poor CDMA implementation, no WAP, had to have phone replaced
This was literally the first phone that I have that was worth it's salt. First, I must mention the positives of this phone. Nokia did an excellent job at designing a user interface that made the phone easy to use. I was able to pick it up and use it...
Pros: Many, many features. Cons: No vibrate feature.
This Nokia and the 5100 series in general are excellent phones. A friend of mine has one, her mom has one, and my dad just got one. They are the most feature packed phones on the market today. My favorite part about this phone is the many ring tones...
Pros: Price, excelent features for such a cheap phone, good construction Cons: Bad power management
Another number to remember with “Nokia” slapped in front of it
Let’s face it; Nokia makes a lot of cell phones. And yes, like every other company that makes anything, they like to give unique model numbers to their various products.
...
Pros: clear signal. Nice battery life. Small Cons: scrolling through address book is annoying
I will keep this brief. I really like this phone. I have had it for about 6 months now and i haven't had any problems, i have dropped it a few times and it is still in perfect condition. I am impressed with the battery life. I talk an average of 30...
Pros: Slim, sleek and does what it's supposed to do Cons: My battery dies very quickly...not enough ring tones.
I upgraded to the Nokia 5185i in December of 2000 after I had problems with my Samsung. I'll admit, I'm a girl, I wanted a phone with switchable faceplates. Plus, I had always heard good things about Nokias, so I figured I'd go with it, since it was...
Pros: Great clarity, small and light, many convenience features and durable. Cons: None so far!
I recently came back to current times and got a cell phone. It amazes me how quickly it becomes indispensable. Very soon you feel naked without it, isn't that silly? I love my little Nokia, it has really simplified my life. I never have to worry about...
I have had this phone for about three monthes now and I do have two other 5100 series phones so I can compare. I have the 5190, the 5160, and of course the 5185i. I just bought this phone awhile ago for use with the Verizon network. I am pleased at a...

My sleek, slim, smooth cellular is a Nokia 5185i. Simplistic, yet ready to please, this phone has many features making it an excellent bargain considering the affordability. Understand though, if you are in the market for a mobile phone with...
Pros: Ease of use, features, overall quality rocks Cons: Bulkier than some newer phones
This is a great, reliable phone. I purchased this phone after coming to my senses and getting rid of my StarTac. This easy to use, functional phone was such a welcome relief.
One of the best things about this phone is how easy it is to use....
Pros: Good old Nokia menus and features Cons: Volume problems with earphones, no dedicated "END" button
I previously had AT&T service with a Nokia 6160 phone and had gotten very spoiled by its features, durability, and overall quality (AT&T coverage in MD/VA did leave something to be desired). I recently switched to Verizon here in MD and wanted the same...
Pros: Light weight, great clarity, easy functions, easy to use. Cons: None so far!
I’m 16 and just got a Nokia 5185i two weeks ago. Up until then, I've used my mom's cell phone...another Nokia that doesn't even have a chance against this one. My mom got this one for me for my birthday. I have to confess- I love it! I've wanted one...
Pros: Handy little bugger this one Cons: not as small as some others
This model is very popular, I can think of at least 15 people I know who have this exact model. The phone is very versitile, it is small, but has a long enough battery life and is not so small that it seems akward to talk into. The phone has good range,...
Pros: It is compact, available and the reception is perfect. Cons: You can't find any problems with perfection...
This phone is the best phone that I have seen thus far. I would definitely recommend this phone to ANYONE that in need of a new cell phone or wants to get their first cell phone.
I was a cell phone "idiot" when I first got this cellular phone but...
Pros: Durable, light, nice features Cons: Battery life, sound quality
I've had 3 5185i phones in a month, 4 batteries and a second charger.
I like the features etc but the battery life is awful. I could never get more than a day and half out of them. That's with no calls in or out
and with a good signal. One...
And it is purple, blue and red! After far too long waffling around trying to decide if she really needed a cell phone again, your Chief Dragon in Residence finally broke down and committed to owning one for a year.
Pros: Price, Ability to change look, Battery life, Keylock, Easy to use Cons: If I had a modem for it, I could get rid of my regular phone.
I purchased my Nokia 5185i as a package offered by a new service provider called Cricket Communications (visit www.cricketcommunications.com for more info on them - they're not listed on Epinions yet). For a price of $94.99 I got the phone, charger, and...
Pros: Compact size, clear reception, many great features. Cons: None known.
The Nokia 5185i phone was received as a gift by my teenage daughter for her birthday. It is the perfect size to fit in her pocket or slip into her purse or backpack when she is away from home.
The reception is extremely clear, without static...
Pros: extremely sturdy, long battery life, good volume, quick menu access, some good rings Cons: terrible headset connector, high radiation level, no vibrate
my first cell phone, but i need to switch to a better one. i go through about a headset a month, and it'll save me a lot of money to get a phone that doesn't need a weird headset connection or adapter. and the radiation level is way up there (1.42 sar digital rating, you can check this at cnet) that i don't much like holding it to my head for long periods of time.
but other than that, i like it. it's really very sturdy- i drop mine all the time and it hasn't sustained any damage. the battery hasn't had any noticeable drop-off in talking or standby duration. the reception is clear, usually- sometime an echo, but not lately, so might have been one type of headset- and i know people don't like those pull-out antennas, but i do, mostly because i can hold it by my teeth if i need my hands for a minute. i probably shouldn't have said that.
