Pros: Norton AntiVirus and Ghost are excellent, Norton Utilities is good, nicely integrated w/one menu Cons: CleanSweep, GoBack PE slightly better than Windows tools, no DOS Recovery tools for XP users
Norton Systemworks 2003 Professional Edition is a useful and interesting collection of utilities for your PC, including the complete and latest full versions of Symantec's widely respected Norton AntiVirus software and Ghost hard disk imaging and b ...
Pros: Unique collection of system tools and disk utilities that meets a critical need for Windows Cons: Significant preexisting OS problems ( especially registry ) or incorrect installation may produce catastrophe
Symantec has long produced some critical pieces of software for people that use IBM type PCs an ...
Pros: Liveupdate, WinDoctor, SpeedDisk, Wipeinfo, etc. etc. This has it all! Cons: Can't think of any!
This program offers you so many useful programs, yes, programs that will be useful unlike so many junk programs out there that just take up space on your harddrive and make your computer run slower. Norton Utilities is awesome. WinDoctor will fix most of...
Pros: easy to purchase (they WILL take your $) Cons: ZERO Service - will NOT reply to service requests
UPDATE: I am very technical and my first attempt to receive instructions (or other help) was on Dec. 9, 2002. I sent my detailed ERROR data to Norton, in writing via Nortons own Tech service form...
Pros: cleans up system nice...helps remove certain bottlenecks Cons: IT KILLS IMPORTANT SYSTEM FILES IN CERTAIN CONFIGS
This software is an absolute waste of time, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. First of all, it is a system bottleneck in itself, it is a resource hog, it deletes certain important system files, in basic computer installations, it does help somewhat,...
Pros: A lot of software for a very reasonable price. Norton Ghost was a life saver. Cons: I have found none.
I built a new PC with Win2000 Professional. I intended to do mirroring as my backup so I changed the drive type from "basic" to "dynamic". I wasn't aware at the time that you can't do mirroring unless you're running server. Windows didn't stop me...
Pros: ?????????? Cons: Doesn't work with Windows XP Home Edition
I purchased this unopened, unused software package from a reputable source about a week ago. It installed easily and appeared to function normally on my Dell 2350 for about two days, after which I began getting error messages on bootup.
The errors...
Pros: Smooth (advanced/custom)install, ease of use. Cons: What cons???
We use this software at work on our laptops and I must say, after I got done installing it and configuring it I was so impressed with its ease of use and features I went to the store and bought a copy for my home computers (Im up to 7 now :-) (It...
Pros: easy install (when it works)
easy customization
good manual
easy antivirus update
Cons: horrendous technical support
installation errors almost impossible to fix
bloated software
I've had this for a few months and I can say that it ran smoothly and the customization and interface features are great but its biggest problem is the installation and support. First - if you crash it during an installation it is a nightmare to install ...
Pros: New IM scanning, Better email scanning, worm blocking, smooth install Cons: nothing so far
Every year I always debate the issue, do I upgrade my Norton program or just renew my subscription and this year is no different than any other year I end up upgrading the software.
I cannot emphasize enough that a good anti-virus program is...
Pros: Best software of its kind Cons: Still some conflicts with XP
I am on my third version of Systemworks and it just gets better. These guys have developed a really nicely integrated toolbox that is very easy to use and far superior to the utilities that come with your operating system. I use it constantly for virus...
Pros: A few worthwhile utilities still there Cons: DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE USING WINDOWS XP!
I've been upgrading my Norton SystemWorks for years, and did so again when I upgraded to Windows XP. BIG MISTAKE THIS TIME! My #1 Priority for buying this program was to create RESCUE disk as I had in all versions in past. Manual told me this feature...
Norton drops support for windows 2000 SP4 by brianpbarnes ,Oct 04 '04
Pros: Eventually defragments a hard drive. Cons: Drops liveupdate after a year.
10 times slower than others.
Mindlessly re-re-re-moves files.
I just installed windows 2000 service pack 4 and now Norton Utilities Speed Disk warns me that speed disk has not yet been tested with this service pack. It's been out for many months.
I fell back on the evil empire's Disk Defragmenter and it was surprisingly fast, just a few minutes to do what it used to take Norton hours to do. Horton has a stupid idea that it know which files I am going to use most frequently in the future and appears to move every file on my hard drive every time it runs. Strangely enough, you can run Norton Speed disk to completion, wait a few minutes and run it again only to find out that all of your files need to be moved again.
Norton Speed disk is nothing but a CPU sucking, disk wearing exercise in mindless file shuffling.
Worst of the Norton Anti-virus programs by lisamlundgren ,Feb 24 '04
Pros: Is an anti-virus Cons: not user friendly!
I was so disappointed with this software. You could do nothing without having to close out different features. Was definately Not user friendly. Returned the program and would sooner use a previous version than this one.
