Nutro Natural Choice for Seniors: Making the Later Canine Years Healthy

by donnamr donnamr is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Pets, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 21 '07
Pros: Nutritional content, visible results!
Cons: Pricey, only available in pet stores. (But worth the $$$ and effort.)
A 2006 report from the American Animal Hospital Association listed diet as one of the major concerns for owners of aging dogs and cats. So many health issues are related to diet: dental health, weight control, mobility, skin and coat health, etc. ...

Pros: Improves coat, skin, joints. has Glucosamine, Chondroitin
Cons: have to purchase at a pet store
Some dogster history:

I adopted my black chow chow, Kuma, around 11 years ago. He was 1 1/2 and unneutered, no shots, but hey, I got him free from a young man who could no longer keep him. Within a couple of weeks, he received his...

The Healthy Choice is Nutro Natural Choice

by poseidon Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Apr 23 '01
Pros: Oscar likes the taste, it is very healthy and has a low moisture content.
Cons: Pricey.
Oscar will be seven years old on June 6th. He’s not even close to old – in fact he’s still more puppy than dog. Since cocker spaniels are considered a small-to-medium sized breed, he’ll live longer than many large breed dogs. So seven really doesn’t...

Natural Choice Senior: Healthy Golden Years

by sherrylee Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 06 '01
Pros: Nutrition suited to the delicate digestion of older dogs
Cons: Moderately expensive, some chemical supplementation
In our home, we have three full time dogs, and one part time dog. My Moms' dog, Jeter, lives upstairs and spends as much time down here as she does up there. For many years, we fed all of our dogs communally, and kept food out at all times. Hence, they...

NNC a Winning Choice for my dog!

by stteardrop , Aug 29 '01
Pros: Excellent ingredients list, smells pretty good, and my dog loves it.
Cons: Don't know of any.
I have a senior 13-year-old poodle mix. She has had one episode of liver crisis that made her very ill and forced her into a restricted diet (low protein). I hadn't really understood the importance of senior dog food until this happened to "My Baby"....

The Best Food for your Best Friend

by JulieBetsy , Nov 22 '00
Pros: healthy, natural, tasty
Cons: a bit more expensive than most
I have an eight-year-old Shar-Pei/Lab cross. Being half Shar-Pei, she has had her share of minor skin problems along with other, more serious challenges. Since switching to Nutro Natural Choice Senior dry dog food two years ago, she has shown great...

A Nice Food

by bfam5kids , Mar 10 '03
Pros: dogs did well on it, decent quality, easy to find
Cons: a lot of grain
We fed this two our two older Dachshunds (ages eight and eleven at the time) for a little while. While they did very well on it and it was a big improvement over the low quality "grocery store brands" they were eating before it. All in all, it is a good...

10 out of 10

by PatriciaMurphy , Jan 05 '01
Pros: Little Poops
Cons: Kinda Pricey
OK.. I was probably like alot of people out there. I bought Pedigree at the grocery and I thought I was doing this big favor for my doggies. And that that high priced specialty food was just that, high priced. But when my Australian Shepherd, Mocha,...

Good food for older dogs.

by lipps66 , Oct 06 '01
Pros: Dog does not know that it is for the old!
Cons: Expensive
We decided to switch our dog Buddha to this food because I have had good luck with glucosamine sulfate. It has worked pretty well for him. It took some time to build up the GS in his system and now he is running like new again.

The food is...

Highly recommended for a senior dog

by Pampushky , Sep 27 '00
Pros: My dog loves it, gives him a healthy coat.
Cons: Can be higher priced than Iams or others
I have a 15 year old miniature schnauzer who has eaten nothing but dry food during his life. I raised him on Science Diet, but approximately 2 years ago the vet said his cholesterol was high, and so I switched him to this food. Since then, his levels...

Good product but not excellent
by keystone3 ,Dec 12 '04
Pros: The product did improve his coat shine.
Cons: The product did not lessen the skin problem nor did his energy level improve.
I purchased this product to improve the skin, coat shine and health of my 11 yr old Miniature Schnauzer. He had multiple bumps (acne) on his back, his coat had lost its shine and he was very lethargic. He had been tested by a vet and found free of any health issues.
