Pros: Save a lot of money on batteries. Long-lasting battery power. Cons: None
I recently purchased a Nintendo Wii game system. Due to the fact that the remote controls (otherwise known as Wiimotes) are battery-powered, I also decided that it would be a good idea to purchase the Nyko Charge Station for the Nintendo Wii. I ...
Pros: Stylish WiiMote Grip Cons: Brightest LED Light... Ever!
So you did all of your homework and decided that you wanted a Wii over an XBOX 360 or PS3, and now you're looking into accessories that the Wii has to offer. You have a strange feeling that you'll be addicted to the ...
Pros: Stylish and cute, easy to use. Cons: Not as cheap as just getting ugly ol' rechargeables.
When I bought my Wii, I kept hearing about what greedy battery-gobbling monsters the remote controllers are, and in fact I had already seen my long-suffering Wii-owning friends wearily breaking out Costco-sized tubs of batteries and changing the AA ...
Pros: Matches Wii, will need batteries anyway Cons: Doesn't hold charge, LCD light bright
The Wii is kept in the adult section of the house which is a more visible area. We purchased the charging station for our entertainment center in hopes that this product would help the area stay neat and tidy. Only one remote comes with the ...
Pros: Easy to use, decent battery life, simple LED readout, good stuff. Cons: Not made perfectly, has it's little things that could be better..
Having read the previous review on this I cannot help but be puzzled because this charger works absolutely fine. I have 3 Wii remotes, this charger works fine... Although the charger only works with 2 at once (just so you know). I bought this ...
Pros: Works well, battery covers help you get a better grip on the remote, attractive Cons: Battery covers don't fit snugly
The Nyko Charge Station was the first thing I bought for my Wii -- I figured it would pay for itself in the long run with all the money it'd save in batteries. And I have to say that it was a good investment. The Wiimotes take two Double A batteries ...
Pros: Save $$$, Ease of Use Cons: Bright Charging Light (very minor problem)
I, like most Wii owners, got tired of spending money on huge packs of AA batteries to play my games. I knew there were several options for saving this money with regular rechargeable AAs, charging stations that plug into the Wii via USB and this type, ...
Pros: Saves a bundle on batteries & has indicator lights Cons: doesn't work with the remote skin/glove accessories.
This is the best idea ever for the wii. It's one of those ideas where some exec at Nintendo looked at the R&D guys and said "Why didn't Wii think of that? Johnson, you're fired." But seriously, this little unit is pretty great. It's got a solid ...
It is nice to have a game system that has a wireless control system... No interruptions from people or animals tripping over cords; being able to sit across a big living room without a cord extender; no tangled cords! Unless you want to spend a fortune ...
Pros: inexpensive, great concept Cons: doesn't work!
I thought this would be a great idea so the kids could easily charge their wii remotes without much intervention from me. We've been through a few nyko's now and still haven't found 2 batteries that will consistently work. First problem was the wii remote would not seat properly in the charge station.
The next problem was, when the kids were playing active games (which ones aren't on the wii), the battery loose connection and the wii remote would turn off. Ugh...needless to say, we've returned them and are sticking with good old double A's.
Not ready for prime time by smjohnson111 ,Mar 03 '08
Pros: Not bad if you use your 'mote without the protective gel cover. Cons: If the protective gel cover is important to you, don't bother with this setup.
The Nyko Charge Station for the Nintendo Wiimote is a good idea that has not been fully thought out and engineered. The basic concept of a recharger station for charging/storing a Wiimote is great, but the engineering has not kept up with Nintendo's advances. Nintendo's new, shock absorbing gel cover on the 'mote is an excellent protector for a delicate piece of machinery. However, when in place the recharger is unusable because the 'mote does not fit nor make contact with the charging contacts. The user must strip off the gel cover, turn it right side out, and find a safe storage place for the cover until the 'mote is ready to be used. Then the user has to put the gel cover back on the 'mote. When done with play a user has to decide whether to find another storage site for the 'mote, or decide to skin off the gel cover again and store the 'mote on the charger. The fine motor control and strength required for all this will be beyond the capabilities of most children and many limited mobility users.
Nimh batteries a 'no-no' in the Wii remote. by hpilgrim3 ,May 29 '07
Pros: none Cons: The rechargeable batteries are not usable in a Wii remote. The product would not work.
I bought this item for my son, thinking to save money on batteries of course, but the remotes would not hold a charge.
So we looked in the Wii instruction book (what we should have done in the first place) and found that only alkaline batteries, not Nimh batteries like those provided with the Nyko Charge Station, were to be used in the remote.
Why Nyko would produce this item, knowing that their rechargeable Nimh batteries were prohibited, is a puzzle to me.
I took it back to the store. It's back to buying batteries at our house, for now at least.
