Does The Job
by laskocooling ,Feb 25 '08
Pros: Does The Job of An Intercooler. Cons: After Week Use, Makes Loud Noises.
This Nyko Intercooler for Playstation 3 does exactly what it suppose to do, cool down the system. What it doesn't do is offer good quality. After about a week of use, I turned it on one day to find a loud annoying noise coming from the fans that you could even here over the game. Later I found out if you leave Intercooler running for a few minutes, the noise should go away. This noise does not go away permanently, with the intercooler shut off for several hours the noise will come back next time you turn it on. There were some good qualities about this that made me keep it. (1) Moves Main Power Switch up front (2) Adjustable Fan Speed (3) Does the Job of a Intercooler.

Works well but has a design oversight.

Pros: keeps system cool, looks great, quiet in comparison Cons: shared power switch is annoying
The intercooler runs even when the PS3 is in standby mode. The only way to turn the fan completely off is to turn the shared power switch off. This turns the PS3 completely off as well. So, in essence, you eliminate the standby mode of the PS3. This is a pain when you want to use the remote or the controllers to turn the PS3 off but don't feel like walking across the room to turn the intercooler off.
