Pros: Funny story. Cons: Dumbed down gameplay and mechanics.
Author’s Note: This review was originally written in 2001, hence all the references that seem at least somewhat outdated. If I were an ambitious man, I’d go through and fix them all for a 2003 audience—but since I’m not, this disclaimer will have to su ...
Pros: A great RPG for any PS2 owner. Cons: It's a weird game... I can tell you that.
Of our time, there have been a number of RPG games, in different shapes and sizes, colors and in quantity. But, never has there been an RPG game quite like this one. With artwork that looks as if it came straight from the head of the dark moviemaker, Tim ...
Pros: Great artwork, challenging, quirky Cons: The story's end feels rushed, shared magic points, simplistic battles
To be quite honest, there were very few games worth sticking around and playing at the 2001 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo. One, almost neglected in Sony's sprawling booth, was Okage, the story of a boy and his evil, tyrannical overlord....
Pros: Truly humorous story, interesting characters, excellent design Cons: Predictable RPG gameplay, nothing new, average graphics even when produced.
Overall: 6 Gameplay: 7 Graphics: 7 Sound: 6 Concept: 6 Replay Value: 6 It's fair to say that the PS2 is an RPG console. The sheer quantity of RPG titles available is mind boggling, even when you look past the numerous Final Fantasy ...
Pros: original plot, Madril, Stan is cool Cons: boring and repetitive dungeons, huge flaw in combat system
It's a shame when a game like Me and Satan King (Okage's original Japanese name) gets massacred before seeing a stateside release. This has happened with excellent games like Dragon Warrior VII and now Okage, an already flawed game that could've been...
Pros: Funny, fun Cons: Could have looked nicer, dungeons boring at times.
OKAGE : SHADOW KING I remember this being one of the PLAYSTATION 2’s first RPG’s. I was really psyched to play this game, hoping that it would fill my RPG hunger until FINAL FANTASY 10 came out. I believe I first saw an ad for the game in a GAMEPRO MA ...
Pros: Filled with gut destroying humor, fantastic soundtrack Cons: Camera angles, dungeons are a nightmare
I rented Okage:Shadow King thinking it would be a cool little game. Then I ended up buying it not too long after in order to finish it and it now among my top 5 favorite RPG's. Story: You start as Ani, simalar to Link in that he never speaks for ...
Pros: cute funny spooky and heck its got a good plot (unlike FFX) Cons: it had one of those boy falls in love with princess things.
ART WORK: couldn't have been better it was SD out of proportion but I loved it. It was so dark yet with a twist like a nightmare before christmas. It was cute chibi dudes running around and killing stuff. Some time I found it alittle scary in the night...
For someone who like to solve puzzles and riddles, this is a great game. Playing this game is like reading along to some sort of twisted nursery ryhm.
The main character is a child who is "haunted" by an ancient evil shadow king. The goal is...
Pros: Good story line. Nice Rpg elements. Cons: Long loading times. Get's repetetive.
You walk into your nearest video game store. There it is! The Playstation 2 display! Hmm, Okage: Shadow King... never heard of it... oh well! You hand the clerk your money and are happily on your way. You go home and open it up and load into your PS2 to...
Pros: Characters, humor, simplicity Cons: No voices, graphics
Lately, we see the turn-based RPG era dying. But every now and then we get a new game that has the simple, dragon warrior type battle system a lot of us enjoy. This is one of them. The enemies appear on the map, and contact with them initiates battle. ...
OKage: Definatly not the best game. by jetts ,Apr 12 '05
Pros: Dungeons are neat
Somewhat humerous Cons: only 10-15 hrs long
everything gets repetitive
OKage im going to make this quick. First the story is about a boy that get's a shadow that's bad and wants to take over the world. First the graphics are average at best. Also the gameplay, There's not much too it. It can get boring. HOWEVER i like the dungeons there so easy. all you need to do is touch 4 vases and then you go to the next level. Although it's repetitive and boring its easy. And its like 10-15 hours long
A marvelous game; original, stylish,... by keinojou_dt3000 ,Jan 01 '03
A marvelous game; original, stylish, and imaginative in the most brilliant ways. I especially enjoyed the witty dialogue. This game is sure to suck you right in. Elements for almost every gamer were smoothly incorporated into this game. Among these elements are battles, challenging riddles and disturbing plot additions. Not only was this game in a class of it's own, but it also inspired me to play more games...and that's good right?
