First experience with digital camera... by double_a_dt3000 ,Nov 12 '02
First experience with digital camera besides observing others and hearing comments by owners of other cameras. D-510 Zoom is a great camera whether you are entry level or moving up from the lower end. I keep a USB cable permanently connected to my computer for immediate downloading. Makes sending photo images a breeze via e-mail.
I agree that one of the previous negative reviews is not well informed. This camera really does have a lot of features for this price point. Although, I do understand why that person wrote a negative review - a detailed manual is not printed. Not only are the features not obvious, you have to do a little research using additional files on the provided CD to learn to do things like save your preferences. I am an experienced photographer and wanted a point and shoot until the prices on the professional systems come down. I am very happy. Other than the lack of good instructions, I think the camera is easy to use once you understand it. Even without the manual, you should be able to figure out how to get it to work at least at a basic level. My five year old has it mastered. I just wish I had used Dealtime to research the price before I bought it. $299 in March 2002. Buy NiMH batteries and a 128MB card. Another $80 or so. It is worth it for 250 hi res photos. Good luck.
I researched digital cameras for... by jim1372_dt3000 ,Mar 19 '02
I researched digital cameras for nearly a month before I decided to purchase the Olympus D-510. This camera offers more features, by far, than any other camera in it's price range including 2.1 megapixels, video clips, output to television, night picture mode, and more. I have only one complaint: Olympus must put more memory with their cameras! This is a problem with all camera manufacturers (with the exception of 1 or 2). They make money selling accessories....so relax people it's just business!! Despite other reviews I've read on this camera....the Lens cover is a very intelligent and sleek design and it DOES NOT stick out from the side of the camera!!! I wish people would right accurate reviews!! One other tip...buy some rechargeble batteries. Other than that this camera takes great pics and has it all! EXCELLENT BUY!!
Very suprised at the quality... by batman_dt3000 ,Dec 03 '02
Very suprised at the quality of the pictures taken. With the Olympus software the Panoramic shots turned out great and seamless, was even able to use the panoramic feature to put my wife and myself into a single shot with only one of us in the scene at a time or even make myself into a twin. Bought rechargeable NiMH batteries to solve my battery usage problems.
