Pros: Easy to use, relatively accurate, 5 year warranty. Cons: Still too big to be portable, like while walking.
Well, now I can take the pressure. I have had heart disease and high blood pressure for a while now. Suddenly, however, I find myself with a very unstable blood pressure "to the moon, Alice, to the moon". I had an older sphygmomanometer with a built in ...
Pros: Sturdy, accurate, reliable, easy to use, long battery life. Cons: I guess I'd like a printer, but I can always write.
The Omron HEM 711 is one of a group of closely related automatic sphygmomamometers that share the same basic engineering, sold under the Omron name (Omron Healthcare, Inc.). These are all designed to allow individuals to measure their ...
Pros: Omron quality, accuracy, and ease of use Cons: My DD actually likes to play with it!
OK, I looked around and didn't find my model monitor, but I did find another review of it by another epinionator. That being the case I'll just do what she did, so forget about the Omron model HEM-711 and read about that little jewel, the Omron model...
Pros: Easy to use, just put on the cuff and press a button! Cons: Doesn't always get a reading on the first try
For anyone who needs to easily monitor his/her blood pressure on a regular basis, I would recommend this Omron monitor. When choosing a blood pressure monitor you’ve got a few choices to make. A monitor can be manual or electric, and measure from an...
Pros: Very easy to use. Accurate when used with correct size cuff Cons: Need to purchase large size cuff separately.
I purchased this unit after my manual digital blood pressure unit's hand bulb started leaking. In order to avoid that problem in the future, I decided to purchase a fully automatic blood pressure unit. After learning that independent research testing ...
Pros: Easy to use and read. Accurate Cons: Somewhat pricey.
When a blood pressure machine in Walmart showed my pressure at the stroke level, my daughter took me straight to the doctor who brought it down and prescribed medication, but it was hard to keep under control. The doctor suggested I buy a monitor and...
Pros: Quick, easy, accurate, long-lasting power Cons: None
Regular monitoring of your blood pressure is so important and you really can't beat the convenience of the Omron HEM for this. In less than a minute, you'll have an accurate reading to compare with previous measurements as part of your overall personal...
The unit my family uses is OMRON HEM-737 blood pressure monitor. I bought this unit without any prior knowledge of the company or the reliability of the product. I bought the monitor at Kohl's for about $70. At the time, it came with a free cookbook...
Pros: Very accurate, easy to use, easy to read, big digits! Cons: Cuff size could be a little bigger.
I have been through at least two other BP monitors for my Mother. This one has been the best so far as far as accuracy, ease of use, large digits which are easy for her to see. I only purchased the Omron approximately two weeks ago, but am very...
Omron HEM-711 - I use it everyday. by keithns ,Apr 14 '07
Pros: I use it everyday, sometimes more. Batteries last quite a while. 14 session memory. Cons: After using it for about 3 years, I can't think of any cons.
I like the idea of controlling when I take my blood pressure to get a consistent reading. I sit somewhat still for about 20 minutes, not soon after a meal and take a reading.
With this monitor, I've learned the effects of different diets, like those with more or less grease or oil. Also, if I don't exercise for a while, the readings on the monitor tell me its time to get out for my walks.
Pros: Cuff comfort, features. Cons: Reads 30-40 points higher than my known average B.P.
I purchased this monitor the day my doctor started me on meds and told me to check my readings 2x per day. After starting the meds, I began taking readings and I was startled that my readings jumped 30 points / 15 points. I relayed this info to my doctor who doubled my meds after about 10 days. The readings were still very high and he asked me to come in for an appointment. I was getting quite scared! At my appointment, my B.P. read 128/79 several times. I was very relieved. I exchanged the monitor for a like model after this appointment, but it still read very high. I have since returned it to the point of purchase. I called Omron for troubleshooting and they did not find any problems with my technique. I asked them about altitude (I live in Denver) and they denied any problems relating to that. Sure wish I knew what was up because I like the comfort of the cuff and the features on this model.
Pros: ease of use for the non-technically inclined Cons: cuff needs to be longer
I have found that monitor is easy to use and read, but the cuff is too small. When the cuff is on, I have it completely expanded and found it has a very snug fit. Consequently, my blood pressure readings can fluctuate 10-15 points! For the record, I'm chubby, but by all means, not obese. If you have large arms, you need to consider if this product would be useful to you.
Pros: Options such as large cuff, AC adapter make this quite flexible. Cons: Not very accurate. Questionable Quality Control.
I bought this model because Doctors don't consider the wrist varieties of blood pressure monitors to be reliable. This one looked good, and the large cuff was a plus because it would accomodate my 15" bicep. When it arrived I eagerly opened it, and followed the easy instructions on how to try it out. Boy was I disappointed. The reading said that I was well into the hypertension range (140/100). The problem is that I work out at a hospital most days and I have access to pretty high quality monitors there and also live physicians who take my BP every day -- so I know my real BP is much lower than this model said. The next day I took the monitor to the hospital with me and confirmed -- THE OMRON WAS ABOUT 50 POINTS TOO HIGH. How could Quality Control let something this inaccurate out the door. I returned mine immediately for a full refund.
I get my Blood Pressure tested at doctor's office with some frequency. Always normal. With this device, however, often 30 points higher than measured at doctor's. And successive readings in one sitting show swings of 20-25 points. Seems more like a random number generator than a measurement tool.
