Pros: Sincere, affecting, beautifully performed music. Cons: One track not up to the rest of the album's standard.
The sophomore slump is something that plagues many an artist, and with good reason. You have your whole life to draw from for your first album, and the time frame between first and second album is obviously much more limited. Add that to the fact that, ...
Pros: The production fits exactly what he's trying to do - make good music Cons: Might not get enough airplay to get in enough hands
After the success of Get Lifted I imagined John Legend in the hot tub with a bevy of dark skinned honeys (and not the strobe light kind), partying the night away, letting his new found platinum status get in the way of making music the way he ...
Pros: Great songwriting, Legend's awesome voice, nice update on classic sounds from other eras. Cons: Maxine isn't very good. Coming Home doesn't fit the mood of the album.
John Legend is probably one of the best R&B discoveries for this decade. His songwriting skills are genius, his voice is a baritone that sounds like sonic satin and the production on his albums is so well done. I became a fan when I attended the Alicia ...
Pros:sigh Where does one start? Cons: He gets us all excited... and then the album ends. Such a tease.
It's a little too easy to arrive at the conclusion that John Legend is, true to stagename, the golden-haloed savior of contemporary R&B. But then, these days, the bar's set so low that anything that starts out with the assumption of the ...
Pros: It starts. Cons: It doesn't go on forever and ever and ever.
John Legend burst onto the scene two years ago with "Ordinary People," (a breath of fresh air in the overproduced R&B music market), sold a bajillion albums, and, as Bill Maher pointed out, became the only Penn graduate to win three Grammys. Now he's ...
Pros: sophisticated, capitivating grown folks r&b, introspective, production, relaxed, natural Cons: could take a listen or two to really get
Even though I was MIA from Epinions for many moons, I continued to read and keep tabs on certain people and certain releases, always eager to see what you guys had to say about the latest bestseller or an old favorite. I tended to agree with the reviews ...
Pros: The Beautiful and Magnificent John Legend. Cons: -
As this CD opens you automatically know that what you are about to hear is the ultimate groove. Then, John Legend's sultry, masculine voice breaks into the first words of the song and one simply begins to swoon:" Say that you'll stay a little, don't say ...
Pros: A R&B record truly deserving of a Best in Class status Cons: Prospect of a solid R&B record may shock some into cardiac arrest
It seems as if an eerie and shivering calm has touched down over the R&B front. Given the general disenchantment that most of 2006s higher-profile *ahem* urban contemporary releases have elicited, though, its hardly a stretch to ...
It took me a minute but i got it..... by slydestone ,Nov 17 '06
Pros: Sophomore album jinx never crossed his mind. Cons: some folks may not get it......
I agree with everything the other 2 reviewers said. It took me a listen or 3 but I got it. "Once again" is the masterpiece of it's kind. It's old school, new school, neo soul and everything else mixed up in there. I love every song but, "Another again" is my favorite on the CD. I've listened to it maybe 12 times on any given day. Part two to "Again" No one else mentioned it, so I thought I would. He could release both as singles and I'd be happy. John Legend. A young living "old school soul" legend.
Once Again, John Legend s new album, is many things, chief among them, it s a pop/soul album fueled by intelligence, intuition, sensuality, spirit and...More at Buy.com Marketplaces
