Pros: Some outstanding songs, great production quality, impeccable vocals... Cons: Not consistent, not as good as their debut, doesn't make me dance like a monkey-girl...
Donning spandex outfits reminiscent of Steven Tyler and a voice all his own, Justin Hawkins leads the hilariously tongue-in-cheek yet still incredibly talented British band The Darkness. Along with his brother Dan (guitar), Frankie Poullain (bass ...
Pros: a bunch of good to great songs, unexpected musical growth Cons: really short (35 mins), too many ballads litter the second half
Well, this certainly wasn't what I expected. Not that that's a bad thing... To be honest, at this point, British rockers The Darkness could've released a disc very similar to their 2003 debut Permission to Land and I wouldn't have cared ...
Pros: A generous glimpse now and then of a genuine zip Cons: A lot of words beginning with ‘over.’ Overdone, overproduced, over…dumb?
Permission to Land was a fairly withstanding classic hard rock album from England’s biggest hard rock group, The Darkness. It was the product of a band who knew they were silly, and so built on it, while having a little fun in the process. ...
Pros: There may be one entire song worth your attention here. Cons: It is otherwise quite terrible.
The release of a new Darkness album alerts us to the fact that the group does not, in fact, consider itself a joke. With One way ticket to Hell and Back, frontman Justin Hawkins and co. return, clad in matching leotards and/or ...
Pros: Fun, loud, creative Cons: Some ballads aren't as good people may not like the change
The Darkness One way ticket to hell is the second album by the darkness. I got to know them by listening to them by a friend back when they had their first album out. I liked them a lot so I listened to them more and found out that I absolutely loved ...
Pros: First new catchy hard rock in years. You will find yourselves singing it all day! Cons: This is a short album, does not have the same appeal as some earlier work.
The Darkness "One Way Ticket To Hell & Back" This album by the 2004 UK stars is full of uplifting and fun songs. The primary attraction being lead vocalist JUSTIN HAWKINS strange range of notes and 1980's rock flair. With a falsetto that would ...
Pros: Great harmonics, stunning, complex songs Cons: There are only 10 songs! I want more!
First of all, I'd like to state that this is the only album that I've ever been able to listen to from beginning to end without hating some of the songs. Each and every song on here is bound to become a classic. They've all been written with passion, and each song is just simply amazing. The vocal and harmonic complexities are absolutely stunning, and to top it off, every song has a great beat. For anyone who thought rock was dead, they should pick up a copy of "One Way Ticket to Hell... And Back" by The Darkness. I'm sure their opinion will quickly change. One thing's for sure, this is one of the most unique sounding albums to hit the shelves in years.
