Pros: Backlight; electronic logbook makes it easy to track critical data for diabetics Cons: Bigger and bulkier than Ultra; Screen gets dirty and is hard to clean.
Several months after my oldest son was diagnosed with Type I diabetes in 2001 at the age of 5, we switched to the OneTouch Ultra meter for blood glucose testing. The meter he had received from the hospital took 30 seconds to calculate the results, as ...
Pros: Easy to use; provides tons of information; will interface with your personal computer. Cons: None
Saturday, June 25, 2006 was for me one of those defining days that people have once in a lifetime. It was most assuredly a day to remember, but definitely not in a good way. You see, this was the day I was diagnosed as a diabetic. I hadn't ...
Pros: Speed, convenience, data entry and retreival, light, durability, reliabilty, cheap. Cons: None. Strips expensive but cheap compared to strokes and drooling the rest of your life.
Introduction to Diabetes I write this review in deep thanks of Johnson and Johnson, the owners of Lifescan who make the One Touch meters. Diabetes is a really hard disease to live with because you are always pontentially on the brink of ...
Pros: Accurate, flexible, easy to use and can provide vast amounts of important information. Cons: Expensive for a basic meter. A bit complicated for the casual or occasional user.
The "One Touch Ultrasmart Blood Glucose Monitoring System" is quite a pretentious title for a glucometer. It sounds like 'hype.' It's not. This device is something more than a simple glucometer, although it serves that purpose well and conveniently. And, ...
Pros: Stores a whole load of info, fast, good service Cons: No strips included,
The OneTouch UltraSmart is certainly not your typical blood glucose meter. It is an enhanced version of the regular OneTouch Ultra, which I have also reviewed. Not only does it measure blood sugar in just 5 seconds, but it also stores a whole world of ...
Pros: Easy Sampling, Rapid Results, Integrated Log and Averaging. Cons: Device resetting not obvious from instruction manual.
The easy to use UltraSmart blood glucose monitor is much more than a blood glucose tester. Here is a list of some of its features that I use the most: 1. Log Book: The monitor itself is a powerful logbook capable of holding thousands of test entries. ...
Pros: High quality product, manages and analyzes information about glucose testing, food intake, insulin and more. Cons: Expensive, not for visually impaired or those with poor manual dexterity.
I've been insulin dependent for nearly 20 years now. I've gone from visual blood testing strips to my first meter (which took 2 minutes to complete a test) to waiting 5 seconds for a result now. Of all the meters I've used (several lifescan products, ...
Pros: Easy to use, very clear, stores tons of information that is specific to diabetic care Cons: Have to insert test strip, problems w/ deleting information
The previous recommendation was spot-on...I can only add the following comparison w/ my previous meter by DEX. Positives: In addition to the previous excellent review, I would add that the meter is very light, and comparable to other meters in ...
Pros: Easily identify patterns and trends so that you can make adjustments for better glucose control. Cons: None. There is no other meter out there like it.
If you are making insulin adjustments or want to better manage your diabetes, this is the meter for you. It automatically collects and organizes your glucose data by time of day. All you have to do is test and the information populates inside the meter ...
Not for adults, not for kids by mom-in-nc ,Feb 24 '05
Pros: The palm like technology is great. Cons: This is NOT a meter for kids.
It is nice to hold in your hand, and comfortable in size. The buttons and text are large enough for those who need glasses, but don't like to wear them and seem to work easily.
The test strips that this meter uses are much more picky than the Ascensia meter we have from our Endo Dr. You must ONLY touch the blood drop and not your finger. The result of touching your finger in anyway results in an error and a re-prick and new strip. Not very user friendly in this aspect. This is not a meter for children or anyone who may have tremors (shaking due to low blood glucose levels)
Much more info than you can use by monyepinions ,Aug 07 '06
Pros: Configurable. Big lighted display. easy to use Cons: None really, maybe too advance for some persons.
I've had this meter for over 2yrs. I'm a brittle diabetic who has used this to track food/insulin/exersize/stress. This is basically a PDA for your glucose. If you take the time and measure all your food you can track exactly how your body responds to exercise and food as well as injections. It is complettely customizable. I would suggest buying the PC cord. You can DL the software for free and it will allow you to print customized reports and even fax them to your Dr. This has been a real help. I always fax in my 90day reports to my Dr about a week before my appt. This gives them a headsup and they can have a plan not just a reaction.
Ask your endrocrinologist or diabetes educator about this meter. I got mine for free just by asking.
