On my quest to build my budget home theater, that would allow me full access to the beauties of blu ray i.e. loss less audio I came across an amazing deal on this Onkyo receiver! $257! WOW, in my budget and now in my home theater! I will be ...
Pros: Excellent Power, Simple Design, Ease Of Use, Lots Of Features Cons: Gets Hot "Will Require Plenty Of Space", No Smart Remote
I purchased the Onkyo TX-SR605B because I needed something inexpensive to fill in for my brand New Marantz SR7001 that took a dump on me in the first two weeks of ownership. Needless to say, I was very impressed with the performance of the little Onkyo. ...
Pros: Great sound quality, easy to use controls on the receive unit itself, easy setup Cons: Complex remote, must read the manual to use effectively.
The Onkyo TX-SR605 AV Receiver is a very good buy when comparing the cost to the feature set. The receiver is comparable to any of the higher cost competitive models and has more than enough features for any home theatre. I was surprised at the price ...
Pros: Easy to set up, intutive controls. Cons: Taller than many receivers out there.
We bought this receiver to replace our aging Bose Lifestyle 12 system. A surround sound system is a must in our house - we watch a lot of movies and TV and listen to CDs. After careful research, we chose the Onkyo because it offered the most bang for ...
Pros: Great Name, Great Price, has the new HD sound decoders. Cons: Difficult to configure, no upconversion
Well I was expecting some major differences from my previous 5.1 Marantz. I was hoping for more room filling sound for movies. I will say that my expectations of sound are disappointing, however this is a personal preference. I also have been ...
Pros: Well worth the money Cons: must take your time
I would recommend google this & read more details. This was bought back in Jan 08. The setup was easy BUT take your time. DO read each section you have a doubt about in the manual. I am replacing a Outlaw 1050 which I love & I am using a HD DVD Player & ...
BIG BANG FOR THE BUCKS by rollinrobert ,Oct 01 '07
Pros: Onkyo tough . reasonable price . more sound than most any home theater needs . Cons: didn't get it sooner .
This is my 2nd Onkyo receiver . Replaced 15 yr old unit so I could run my high def tv input through the new unit . Asked sales person at Circuit City what he recommended And he said "You cant get much better than the tx-sr605 " I was pleased it was an Onkyo as I have had a great run with my original . I am amazed to find this one sounds even better ! Set up is ... well if you can read plain English you can hook this baby up . The set up mic is awesome it works so great ! ez to use and spot on just set it and forget it . I turned up the power to my sub woofer just a little but I like the the walls to shake a bit and this receiver can do it .
Onkyo TX-SR605, worth the extra bucks by dissturbbed ,Sep 06 '07
Pros: outstanding sound quality, durable, easy to use, plenty of input and output connections Cons: bulky, heavy, gets hot
at first i bought a sony STR-dg710 and that was a waste of money the sound was kinda clear but had millions of problems, i then returned it and payed a few extra bucks for the onkyo and it was a world of differance the sound was unreal, it has all the input and output connections you will ever need in a reciever, hdmi is a must use for this reciever otherwise it will downconvert the video from your dvd player and trust me you will know the differance if you have a true 1080p hd tv, it does get hot so make sure you ventilate it and dont put it in a closed cabinet, it is very easy to use even though it comes with a bible size manual the pages go into to detail so granny can understand each feature
Pros: Options, features. HDMI connections, upscaling. Cons: setup was time consuming, and took some reading. Understanding all the different sound formats.
Great receiver with lots of features for a great price. Has plenty of room for all needs. Also does 2nd zone. With all the HD features plenty of ways to grow for future technology.
