Pros: The right price for a starter exercise machine Cons: Doesn't hold up well over long-term, regular use
The Purchase Back in the summer of 2000 or so, I had seen the OrbiTrek several times and began wondering if I could stick to a workout program if it were as fun as the infomercial made it look. They promised no stress on the joints and even had a ...
Pros: Gets your heart rate up, easy to use, no mechanical problems. Cons: Assembly could put off some, not the highest quality, not exceptionally stable, weak customer support.
I've been using the older model Orbitrek for at least four years now, and while it suits me just fine, I can understand why it wouldn't be accepted by hardcore exercisers. Without recapping others' reviews, which all sound reasonable, IMHO the unit is of ...
Pros: The Orbitrek is affordable, easy to move (has front wheels), and takes up little space. Cons: VERY poorly made/dangerous(falls apart within 1 yr), has high shipping charge-$50
I had joined a gym and truly enjoyed the use of elliptical trainers, so I opted to buy one for my home. I had seen the infomercial for the Orbitrek awhile back and had forgotten about it, until researching ellipticals online. I had purchased a stationary...
Pros: Price, compact size and durability. Cons: None.
I bought the original back in '98 after seeing the infomercial. I used it regularly (3-4 times a week for 20 mins. per use) for about 2 years. I trailed off over the years using it less and less because I stared to get away from working out. For the last ...
Pros: inexpensive. can get workout initially Cons: falls apart without any help from you; waste of money
I am very disappointed that I did not take the time to research, and purchase a reliable elliptical home exerciser. I knew that I intented to use it daily, but, still I chose to try to save a few dollars by buying an inexpensive machine, the Orbitrek. ...
Pros: Versatile; challenging Cons: Not for those with high blood pressure
I bought my Orbitrek almost two years ago as part of my New Year's resolution to lose weight. After using it for a few times, it went into the garage, not to be seen again for almost another year! This year, I started the Body-for-LIFE program, in...

Pros: Good price Cons: Poorly made, breaks easily, noisy
I thought it was too good to be true when I saw the Orbitrek advertised on TV for such a good price.....and after buying it I was proven correct! It never seemed very sturdy and would make an awful high pitched noise no matter how much I oiled it. So watching TV with my family whilst using it was completely out of the question. Then it started to drop iron filings, and began making other strange clanking noises now and again. I must say that it seems to have lasted me quite a while when I compare my experience with others who have reviewed this item. However, almost 2 years after I bought it the tension belt snapped and the whole thing was rendered useless. To be honest, part of me is glad that it has finally 'died' as now I can buy a better quality one. This is something that I should have done in the first place!
I had used the Orbitrek for about 2 months when the bearings started to fail. User weight about 135 lbs. Also the foot peddles are very slick and you spend all your time trying to keep your feet on the peddles. I knew it would not be the best machine for that price but, I thought it would give me time to tell if an elliptical was right for me.
This is not the machine to use even to start.....unstable, peddle problems, and many other factors make an bad impression.
Pros: product works good at first, Cons: poor quality machine, outrageous s/h return costs for their faulty product
I'm working on my 3rd machine. It falls apart after about 10 months.First tension knob and resistance go then the black welded arm from rear falls off now the wheel is loose and clanging in front making loud noise. The company wanted to charge me an astronomical price to ship the old one back to them. I bought the machine through Seventh Avenue and they did replace the machine 3 times until warranty expired with no charge for shipping and handling. As I told Seventh Avenue, odds have it that this machine, which is of poor quality, will break again and I'm out of $200.00 as they wouldn't replace my money.I will never buy anything from this company again.(Thane)
Pros: NOT ONE Cons: BREAKS AND THE warenty may as well be written on a piece of toilet paper!!!!!
I had the machine for 4 months and 2 major pieces broke .the peddle bolt was stripped and would fall off in middle of session I fell of about 3 times. the the one handle part cracked and is breaking !!!! 4 months and almost 200 bucks down the drain,I contacted the company they won't replace parts and the place I got it from doesn't think it is there problem!!!!
So now I have a big piece of equipment in my basement that cannot be used safely and no one wants to help me !!!!
Four months four months and it falls apart.
2nd one that fell apart!!! by dumbdumb ,Jan 06 '05
Pros: Light weight, practically impact free. Cons: Didn't take long to become noisy, less fluid, and then, to fall apart!!
I bought an Orbitrek, used it to compliement 3 days of weight/resistance training! Loved it, dropped weight with the 2 workouts combined and was able to notice stamina increase also. THEN THE PROBLEMS 13 months to the day it started falling apart...peddle literally snapped off!! I only weighed 144 AT MY HEAVIEST!!! NO WAY, ACCORDING TO THE INFOMERCIAL, INSTRUCTIONS, WARNINGS, ETC. SHOULD THIS HAPPEN AT THAT WEIGHT!!!! Of course, WARRANTY IS DONE!!!
2ND ONE!!! My friend gave me hers cause she didn't even like it after 3 months and bought a treadmill instead, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!!!!!
TOOK TO A WELDER, HE SAID CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP METAL, CONSTRUCTION SUB PAR AND NOT WORTH REPAIRING!!!
MY OPINION....TAKE A LOOK A AT BETTER QUALITY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT (UNFORTUNATELY MORE EXPENSIVE USUALLY)
I have had a Bowflex for almost a year and AT THIS TIME it is everything advertised and still works perfectly!!!!!
I have owned two Orbitrek ellipticals, the older version that is black and has a large plastic flywheel, and the newer version which has fan blades enclosed in clear/blue plastic. The older unit lasted for a year and then the sprocket bearing came apart. On the newer model the bolts that connected the foot platforms broke twice. This is a very serious safety issue in that the user could easily fall from the unit when this occurs. The Sprocket ultimately failed on the new unit too. It turns out to be the same type of sprocket used in the older model. Orbitrek consistently fought not to honor their warranty. When the second foot platform bolt failed, I paid for the replacement bolt because the hassle to get them to perform on their warranty was too great the first time. I decided to get rid of the new unit when the sprocket failed, just too many problems to contend with in the face of terrible support.
Obitrek is a flimsy machine by orbitrek ,Sep 23 '09
Pros: It Gives a good workout Cons: Pity its not made to last
I have had 2 machines in the last month, the right handle broke off from the structure because the metal used was cheap. I had to return the prodcuct at my expense twice as I was told that head office dont do coeections. I weigh 70ks and my daughter weighs 35ks, so it has nothing to do with weight. I have since returned the machine and got a full refund. I would not reccomend this machine to anyone who wishes to excercise for more than a month...
Pros: easy to use/understand no stress on joints Cons: cant think of anything bad pertaining to the machine itself
I purchased one new. I am a heavier person (200 lbs). This was a great machine for me and I have not had any issues with it at all. The only difficult part is it is and can be an intense exercise so I could only do acouple minutes to start. But didn't take long and you start to work up. I would highly recommend for a beginner/intermediate type user that wants elliptical but doesn't want to spend a fortune.
