Pros: Quiet, not unattractive. If it's really purifying the air, that would be a plus, too.
Cons: The too-frequent arcing/snapping sound and the pain-in-the-neck cleaning procedure.

Cons: Almost constant "Snapping" or arcing soon after purchase. Which is annoying.

I purchased one of these purifiers because of what I saw on the TV Infomercial. For the first 2 weeks or so, it worked fine. Then I cleaned the "Truman Cell" and the "Snapping" or Arcing began. Now I have to clean it every 2 or so days. And its not easy to do either.
I am not even sure its purifying the air either. My wife says she notices a difference in the air quality, But I do not.
Overall, I regret purchasing this machine. Its been more of an annoyance than a benefit. Especially at night when I have to get up and shut it off because of the "snapping"..
Do not buy this device. Its been a HUGE Dissapointment for me.

I actually ordered two Oreck air purifiers and am totally dissatisfied. The parts are sooo cheap and it's highway robbery to charge the prices that they charge. The air purifiers seem to work for the first 6 months but after the first cleaning (followed instructions perfectly), it started to spark and crackle. When I followed up with customer service, they said "that's normal". When I asked why it didn't happen the first 6 months, they really had no answers. Anyway, I've gone to every website that allows reviews and have given 1 out of 5 stars. I need one more air purifier but will never again buy an Oreck. In fact, I was thinking about buying the vacuum cleaner but know that it will also be poor quality.

Pros: Kills odor and mold. Quiet.
Cons: Cannot think of any as my crawl space smells fresh now.

Put my unit in a sealed crawl space with a De-humidifier and my mold / smell problem was sloved. Saved a ton of money vs an air exchanger.

Pros: fan will ventilate room.
Cons: This product just cannot work in the way it is intended.

I bought two of these units and placed both in a room for a weekend running on high. There was some stuff that got caught in the various filters and plates.

Then I opened the door of the room and in this 1080 cubic foot room a whole new 1080 cubic feet of "dity air" came in by the door and the window.

Think about it...This kind of device can only work in a closed system. As soon as you open the door or window, all the cleaned air goes out the window.

That's why in "clean rooms" in labs, they have a two door system to get into the clean room.

These things, including the Sharper Image ones provide only a placebo effect for the average consumer in the average home. It's a great idea; it just doesn't make any logical sense that it would help you.

And yes, if you blow cigarette smoke into the thing it will clear up the smoke....But if you are smoking do you really have any right to clean air given what you are doing to your lungs?

We bought this to clean the air in our bedroom. We have 2 golden retrievers who think that is also their sleeping room. It can and does get dog stuffy, the oreck did the trick-eliminated the dog smell & stuffiness. We haven't had it long enough to complain about the snapping or cleaning of the unit already. So I may ad to this in a couple weeks. But for now, I like it

noises result from improper cleaning. soak cell in cleaning solution; hose off and dry THOROUGHLY. careful use of cleaning swabs is useful if careful of filaments.

had another manufacturer's cleaner that came with busted filaments. drove me and cats crazy.
i've had two table top cleaners for more than 18 months
and am very satisfied.

Pros: Clean Air..no allergy in house..
Cons: buy a charcoal filter for the unit which the advertising don't tell you about

I have had the machine for two years, in fact I have two of them... I have not had any problems with either no arcing or snapping....if that occurs one needs to clean the machine ..it explains the arcing in the manual.
Until now, I need to bring the machine to a local store to repair the motor/fan assembly..seems like it stopped recirculating...Anyways..it's under warranty.

Pros: You can buy one on Ebay for $100
Cons: Overpriced. Poor on dust, allergens.

Most of the reviews on here you'll notice are very well written, in fact too well written.
I bought and Oreck and found that it did not remove dust or pollen very well. So I sold it on Ebay for $122 (and lost $250). Turns out You need a HEPA filter to collect pollen and dust because they aren't "charged" partciles that an electrostatic can collect. So I bought and Airpodcleaner 9000 instead with HEPa and UV for 1/2 the price
