Worth a Second Chance?
by outdoorsbound ,Sep 03 '06
Pros: Lightweight, shoe friendly Cons: Baggy
I have owned at least 3 pairs of gaiters, these being the lowest cut. Like others, I've had problems with the snap digging into my shin but socks worn high can help. I like how the lower elastic helps keep the gaiter close to the shoe. The instep cord is also a little easier to adjust for shoes than the strap and buckle style. There are a little baggy; one size fits all. I'll be looking at a stretch fabric to remedy this. I've owned this particular pair for several years but they've been in the closet for a year or so. As I'm doing more wading I've pulled them back out. I've also used the Crocodiles wading but like the lightweight and more streamlined Rocky Mountain's when wearing shoes. I ran 3 miles tonight wearing the Rocky's and had no problems.
UPDATE: I tested the OR Flex-Tex Low Gaiters today and like how they fit better on shoes. The front clip wouldn't stay on the shoelace so I'm going to try and tighten it up. I hope to use these in an adventure race next weekend.
