Pros: Cleans lettuce keeping it crisp. Versatile. Durable.
Cons: Nuisance to store and retrieve for use.
Background: I have always thought of fruitcake as something that gets passed around at Christmas time because no one wants it. I have had the same experience with salad spinners. On occasion I would hear from a friend that she received this ...

Spinning lettuce into salad

by owling Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Oct 11 '02
Pros: Easy to pump; it has a brake!; durable; decent-sized capacity
Cons: Hard to dry off
Ahh, salad. We've been dieting again, so lettuce is a handy thing to have around the house. We like to buy our lettuce at a local farm when possible, however, so it's always dirtier than those pre-washed salad baggies from the grocery store. (Okay,...

No more soggy salads with Oxo's Salad Spinner!

by telynor Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, May 16 '05
Pros: Easy to use, easy to clean.
Cons: Storing this can be a problem if your kitchen is small.
It's salad season again in our household, but one thing that keeps me from eating them often is the chore of getting the lettuce cleaned, dried and crisped up. Nothing more can ruin a good salad for me than reaching the bottom of the bowl, and finding a ...

OXO Salad Spinner: Physics Makes Great Salads Phun!

by mrs-j Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Jun 09 '03
Pros: Easy to use and delivers clean, delicious, dry salad greens!
Cons: Cumbersome to store in the refrigerator. Not a "multitasking" tool.
I've been buying salad out of a bag for years. It's not that I particularly like salad out of a bag, but as a single gal, I usually planned my meals on my drive home from work. Leftovers were things that padded my refrigerator until they became ...

Spin me up Scotty

by dalesky Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Nov 13 '02
Pros: Large size and easy pump. Can buy accessories also
Cons: Storing it takes some space
I love this thing! It takes a large quantity of lettuce and really spins it clean and dry.
Ever bring home, or cut your own lettuce or greens and find they are dirty? Or worse, bit into a salad with grit in it? A spinner will clean it better than...

Pros: A highly recommended product that accommodates a large amount of lettuce and works easily.
Cons: None. This is my favorite salad spinner.

A Decent Spinner

by qute , Sep 26 '07
Pros: Large capacity, does its intended job well, multi-uses.
Cons: Rubber ring comes off, bulky, can be awkward to use.
I like Oxo. They make kitchen gadgets that work, look nice and, in my experience, last a fairly long time. When I was in the market for a new salad spinner I was happy to pick up this model. Overall, I am pleased with its ability to spin the excess ...

Great salad spinner!

by aleroluver , Jan 28 '08
Pros: easy to use, good quality, stylish bowl that can be used to serve
Cons: large/cumbersome to store
I'll start off by saying that I think Oxo makes great products. I have yet to find one of their products that was not good quality. This salad spinner is no exception. I do not eat salad a lot, maybe twice a month. However, I love gadgets and things ...

The Best Ever!
by monkeyette ,Apr 12 '04
Pros: Easy to use. Button can be locked down for easier storage.
Cons: Some would say it's too expensive.
This is by far the best salad spinner I have ever owned or used. It was a little more than I was interested in paying, but I have no regrets. It came in a set with the plastic knife, (who wants a plastic knife? Not me!) a berry keeper thing, (also useless in my life) and a vegetable peeler. (That's what I remember, but I could have forgotten something.)
The spinner is easy to use. Pressing down on the button is far superior to pulling a little rope.
I buy them as gifts for the people that I know eat a lot of salad. Everybody I know loves it!
I bought it (in the set)at Costco for 25.00.

Not as good as my old one...
by kaos99 ,Aug 02 '08
Pros: Large enough to hold a family salad portion, gears are good
Cons: doesn't really dry the salad well. Expensive
I guess most people are happy with their OXO salad spinners so I seem to be the lone voice of "not completely satisfied". But I am not. I love salad and having a good salad spinner is right up there with a "good pot" for me.
So first I fill the spinner with water and soak the salad then I pour off the water so my salad is pretty wet. I then rinse to make sure the dirt is gone. Then I spin. The spinner mechanism works and has never burped in terms of malfunctioning. But my salad, no matter how many times i spin, never completely dries. If you want salad dressing to stick to the leaves - this poses a problem. You know the old adage about oil and water....
Anyway, it will suffice until I find an old fashioned one out there that has a handle. Sadly it is an expensive mistake.

Sorta dries lettuce
by drumturtle ,Jan 15 '06
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Doesn't spin fast or completely dry greens
I seem to be the only reviewer not enthralled with this thing. Yes, the pump makes it easier to use than another brand I own with a crank/handle. But this one does spin as fast, and hence does not dry off the lettuce as well as my older but smaller model. Since it doesn't spin fast or long, I'm not sure the need for the "brake," but there it is. The extra lid is nice for putting this container in the fridge. But, the extra lid also means more items to keep track of, and I keep misplacing it.
